My Xk8 Sovereign Is A Fantastic Sedate Ride, Ok It
my XK8 Sovereign is a fantastic sedate ride, ok it drinks a bit but on the
eu motorways it comes into its own. I get 26 mpg cruising, not a town car. This is my 4th jag. cant beleive when new £54k has be the best bargain out there. My only advice once first started ie mornings let it run for a few minutes. The AA take 3 hours to get it going again if not.
Best thing Parts are readily available ie Eurojag

I Would Have To Say That Taking All Other Prestige
I would have to say that taking all other prestige cars into consideration given the choice I would pick the JAGUAR XJ 8 every time. You can drive many cars from lexus to mercs and be perfectly happy with your choice but for me the JAGUAR always stands out and shouts class, lexus is a nice car and so is the merc and they both make good taxis as i have seen, but when is the last time any one saw a JAGUAR TAXI I rest my case they are just too classy for any old night out, when you get out of your JAGUAR you only have to look at the admaration of the average person and you feel important no matter who you are.

The Jaguar Xj8 4.0 Is My Pride And Joy - It's Now
The Jaguar XJ8 4.0 is my pride and joy - it's now clocked up 62000 miles with no problems apart from the battery and tyres purchased for £45 each.
Servicing at £70 a time and there is a great supply of second hand parts. Fuel economy not the best but if that bothers you buy a Matiz. Feel the king of the road.
Make sure you buy the best you can afford and you'll have years of cheap executive motoring.

I Had An Lpg Conversion Done In 2004 Which Cost Ab
I had an LPG conversion done in 2004 which cost about £2200 but it's the best thing that I ever did. Runs faultlessly and is a pleasure to fill up at current prices. Easily repaid me on savings but I intended to keep the car. Annoys me that you can't get any tax breaks for this conversion even though it is "Green" and if you want to get exemption from the congestion charge you have to use one of the specialists on a list. If you love Jaguars (and I have a had a few) then this might well be a classic in years to come.

It's My First Jaguar But It Won't Be The Last. Lux
It's my first Jaguar but it won't be the last. Luxury motoring, performance, looks, prestige.
Difficult not to be impressed by the overall package that Jaguar put together in the XJ8.
Considered buying an XK, but at the moment it would be difficult to part with something that drives as good as this car.

My Jaguar Xj8 Is 1998 4.0 Litre Sovereign, 217000
My Jaguar XJ8 is 1998 4.0 litre Sovereign, 217000 miles.
What can I say that's new? No problems with central locking, or anything else. The engine was changed under warranty by Jaguar at 105000 miles, using minute amounts of oil. Gearbox reconditioned at 145000 miles (£1500). Driver's seat frame broke and had to be welded (I weighed over 20 stone at that time). Still on original exhaust - battery etc. Aircon still works and has never been regassed. After all these miles it is time to sell because daft little things, fibre optics in switches, childproof lock button, squeaky heater fan, are beginning to show up faults. Looking for another.
My Jaguar XJ8 is a 1998 4.0 litre Sovereign, and 117,000 miles.
Just like archiesgrandad, no problems with central locking, or anything else electrical. Driver's seat frame also broke, seemingly quite a common occurrence, replaced with second-hand frame.
Also, still on original exhaust, but have changed the battery. Aircon still works and has never been re-gassed. Timing belt tensioners re-newed for modified versions, along with new water pump, timing belt and thermostat. The car drives like a dream! I have been approached on several occasions by strangers wishing to buy it. It looks superb in Seafrost with Celtic alloys.

1999 Jaguar Xj8 Lwb - Purchased 2004 (74k) - Sold
1999 Jaguar XJ8 LWB - purchased 2004 (74k) - sold 2005 (89k). This car was purchased in auction, with a FJSH, for £9,000. (with the reg. 'SS9980' - value £3k +) and sold a year later for £8,000. without the personal registration. APPRAISAL: The first challenge was to remove the smell of smoke as the previous deceased owner was a smoker. This was eventually achieved after countless hours work and re-work. A lesson learnt - never buy off a smoker unless you wish to drive around surrounded by the smell of stale tobacco! Driving back from N. Yorks. to the Midlands I felt like king of the road and that feeling never left me during my period of ownership. The long bonnet, effortless cruising, plush interior, and Mozart c.d. makes even the most stressed driver relax. Nothing of great significance failed in the car (bar the usual Jag. central locking faults) and it consistently drove like new. Acceleration was great (even in the non-sport mode) for such a heavy vehicle (without supercharger) and its petrol return was good - around 22 MPG. High speed cornering was amazing (far far better than the 'S' type) and there was the option to turn off traction control which was appreciated as it is arguably unnecessary for competent careful drivers. Consequently switching it off stopped unnerving ABS judder on wet roads. Seating is extremely comfortable and I particularly liked the head rest being immediately behind my head. Unlike the 'S' type - during high speed cornering one's head does not bash the grab handle and the relatively narrow 225 tyres appear quite adequate due to the car's axle width and low profile. The computerised mileometer was adequate but sadly fell far short of that on the old XJ40 model. Dials and displays were ergonomically sound but essential displays are blocked out for drivers wishing to drive with the steering wheel adjusted into a low position. How long before all cars have essential readings displayed on the lower windscreen - like the Corvette's 'head up' system)? The car was fitted with a very early sat. nav. system which had a small screen but it was quite adequate. But, the cost of an updated c.d. - around £250. plus VAT is simply ridiculous! Overall I was delighted with this vehicle and can thoroughly recommend it strictly provided you can secure the services of a local specialist mechanic, charging reasonable rates, as many Jaguar garages charge around £100. plus (excluding VAT) per hour and tend to charge for unnecessary work and excessive hours worked. They appear to be geared to serving large companies, who do not check their invoices, rather than Jaguar enthusiasts. Membership of one or both of the two big Jag. clubs is recommended as the benefits gained are immense. (The 'Harewood House' annual event is outstanding.) Incidentally, again unlike the 'S' type, this car DOES drive well on snow. Their is no comparison between this and the 3.2 litre model, and although this model has an extra 40 BHP petrol consumption is essentially the same. Parking is generally a problem in the U.K. with this long car, due to inadequate parking and moronic 'door bashers.'FJSH essential and ensure that all recall work has been carried out otherwise tyres will be destroyed with uneven wear in very little time.

The Jaguar Xj8 4.0 Is Definately A Great Car To Ow
The Jaguar XJ8 4.0 is definately a great car to own & drive. Servicing & tyre costs are the downside, but find a good independent and you're OK. The boot is hopeless if you've got massive amounts of luggage or kids. Much more reliable than you'd think - apart from electrics, which can cause some problems every few years (e.g. sticking radio aerial)
