Stunning Car

Bought a 2006 with 55000 miles from Mercedes used just for the warranty, its a stunning looking car the best I've ever had, its seriously quick for a diesel and its unbelievable value for money I paid £10995 for mine worth every penny had full merc history. ive had a range rover sport lots of bmws other mercs but this is by far the best by a long way. The mpg is brilliant even if you push it, buy one its a 50 grand motor for 11 grand and one of the best looking on the road it always turns heads.

Fantastic Cruiser And Very Beautiful

I have had my 2007 Mercedes CLS for 18 months now and I love it as much as the first day I bought it.

It is fast, reliable and very, very comfortable. I came from an Audi A6 2.7 TDI Le Mans, which crashed over every bump in the road, wasn't very quick, had poor fuel consumption and developed a gearbox fault (which Audi flatly denied existed so wouldn't fix under the warranty) at only 30,000 miles.

My CLS on the other hand wafts me along the motorways with style, speed and comfort - I even got 47mpg on one motorway journey with a very gentle foot.

I have done 25,ooo trouble free miles in 18 months and still look forward to driving it every morning.

Oh, one other big plus is that there is a Mercedes service plan that lets you pay £30 per month and your services are covered at a Mercedes dealer keeping you service history in tact and a very cheap rate.

Heaven To Drive, But An Unreliable Money Pit...

I own a 2006 Mercedes Benz CLS 320 CDi which, I’m delighted to say, is a joy to drive.

Unfortunately it is not a joy to maintain.

I bought my lovely car because I thought Mercedes’ had a reputation for quality, reliability and longevity.

However, since April 2012 I have had to pay out £2,500 for parts which have failed, and the labour to fit them. This is over and above the cost of servicing and £1000 per set of tyres.

The failures include a driver’s door handle, 2 glow plugs, a steering joint, an oxygen sensor, and a major transmission control valve assembly, whose failure led to the car’s inability to change gear properly. It is a matter of luck that this fault did not put me or other road users in severe danger, and that my diligence enabled me to stop the car before it caused over speeding of the engine with resulting mechanical failure.

The car has done less than 54,000 miles. Let me repeat that - 54,000 miles! Never have I owned a car that failed so soon!

In addition to the technical failures, I found that the cost of getting the wheels aligned went beyond mere money – Eventually, I made a successful compensation claim from Merc HQ because of the appalling treatment I had had from incompetent, complacent, greedy Mercedes-Benz Colindale.

All in all, I am well disgusted with just about every aspect of Mercedes-Benz.

I have now agreed a part exchange for a toyota GT86. t will be a wrench to get rid of such a lovely car - I am just not prepared to drive a money pit any longer. Jesus Christ, MB! How can you live with yourselves?

A Beautifully Styled Car, A Very Comfortable Ride,

A beautifully styled car, a very comfortable ride, good performance and economy - but short lived. In the last year mine has been on the road for 9 months!! I understand that it has cost thousands of pounds to date. Not what I expect from Mercedes, excellent dealership helps though. Would I buy another CLS - yes, providing it wasn't manufactured by Mercedes.

I found this review somewhat helpful because...why not tell me what went wrong...

Les Smith

I found this review helpful because...I have been looking to purchase a CLS and I suspect that most of the faults may have been electrical,as these seem fairly common and often difficult to correct.

I Had A E220 Cdi Before The Cls And Thought Is Was

I had a E220 CDI before the CLS and thought is was a great car, I have liked the looks of the CLS ever since I first clapped eyes on it,and knew I would have to own one one day. I have had the car for 3 weeks now and still stand there looking at it every time I get it out of the garage.I bought it as an Ex demo car and it has a lot of extras added(sat nav, parking sensors, surround sound system,Bi Xenons with active cornering. It has the illuminated Mercedes Benz Logo door sills, looks great every time you open the doors, but not sure I would have paid 475 to have these fitted as an extra)We went out for a drive last week mostly dual carriage way and motorway, and it returned 41 MPG which I think is great for the size of the car, so far I am over the moon with it,and would recommend it. Also the CLS is a real head turner, and makes you feel a little bit special when you get behind the wheel.

I've Owned My Cls 320cdi For Over 2 Years And Have

I've owned my CLS 320CDI for over 2 years and have covered over 37,000 miles in it and it still looks as good and drives as well as it did the day I bought it.

It's a very practical full size family car that will sit 4 adults in supreme comfort and has a simply cavernous boot! It provides the best balance between performance (very quick), style (head turner)and economy (a steady motorway cruise of 80mph in France over 250 mile journey returned a fuel consumption of 42mpg!).

The standard tyres are too skinny and the car looks better with the 18 inch wheels and best with the 19 inch AMG wheels though they are a tad costly! I added to mine the AMG body kit (plus dealer only ordered subtle boot-lip spoiler) and the 19 inch AMG wheels and to my eyes, this absolutely set off the overall design beauty of the car from whichever angle you look at it, giving it subtle aggression with a slight hint of menace when viewed from the front. I'm not necessarily recommending this full AMG package to all though as the cost of this is fairly significant and to fit the AMG 19 inch wheels, you have to order the air suspension as an optional extra.

In terms of reliability, it was reliable in the first 23 months / 30,000 miles but has been in and out of the workshop for all manners of minor problems / software glitches; Radio, Sat Nav, Keyless Go, etc. I wonder whether the fact that I loaded the car with nearly £20k worth of options has played its part?

Mercedes Dealers are thankfully a lot improved in the last 2 or so years. This has certainly changed since Mercedes UK bought out most of the Franchises and the quality of the service now is about as good as you'll get from say BMW.

So in summary, if I had my time again, would I buy the car knowing what I know about it now...........AN ABSOLUTE UNQUALIFIED YES!!

What a Motor!

The Mercedes Cls 320 Is A Comfortable, Genuine Car

The Mercedes CLS 320 is a comfortable, genuine car that seats 4 adults in comfort. It also looks different for a coupe. Performance is outstanding for a diesel as is the fuel consumption.

Certainly different - drives beautifully and is a real 'head turner'.
