A3 Tdi 2l Quattro
Had this from new and it does take some getting use to as the quattro needs some extra gas to drive it. But what a car. 42 to 50mpg and I have now run 58k miles in it and engine has just been run in so I can notice a real difference. Quattro has never let me down in the ice and snow - yes you still need to be careful but never gets stuck. In the rain it gives you the feeling that it is laughing as it sticks to the road. Just had new rear disc's and pads and fitted Michelin Piolot sport 3, had a full oil and air filter service and it is running better than new (at 58k miles)
most of my driving is motorway but on A' roads it is really fun. Ive changed oil ever 9k (as well as the manufacture service) so I would hope to get this to 150k before I have any problems.
Would I reccomend - oh yes.
drawbacks - you have to chage all tyres at once I had 25k from first set and 29k from Perelli Rosso - changed at 2.5mm depth. Heliex oil change every 40k. it is a small-ish car but quality and fit really good
This car has never missed a heart beat.
Audi service - shop around for best price from main dealer and question what they will be doing for the money - this is interesting hearing some of the variaty of 'we will change the oil and oil filter'!1

Great Car. Performance Is Great And It Is Good On
Great car. Performance is great and it is good on long journeys. It is a very comfortable car to drive, I would definitely look to get an Audi for my next car as well. I get the impression that the engine will go on and on without a problem. The only downside is that I prefer the look of the new Audi's, I should be looking to get a new one though sometime in the future. Great car.

I Have 2002 Audi A3 1.9 Tdi Quattro Sport And Has
I have 2002 Audi A3 1.9 tdi quattro sport and has been modified and rolling road tested with 245bhp and 390 lb/ft torque.the clutch has been replaced with a full performance kit and flywheel.the turbo has been tweaked little, and has had a remap and uprated intercooler.it's in gear acceleratio times are very very quick as the owner of an AudiR8 found out the other day!!!.from the lights it will beat pretty much anything or will at the very least keep up.due to the short gearing and low rev nature, your always gonna have a problem as the latest BMW diesels have tiptronic auto box's.the 330d and 335d are hugely fast and capable cars and will give pretty much anything this side of a veyron a run for it's money!!.the thing I like about my car is that people with expensive luxury/sports cars don't expect to see an Audi A3 glued to there bumper after spending upwards of 50 grand when all I've spent is 2.5k,it really is a wolf in sheeps clothing!!.

Saw A Great Review Of This Also At Http://icarcraz
Saw a great review of this also at http://icarcrazy.wordpress.com/2010/04/30/audi-a3-review/ and agreed with a majority of what it said.
I thought the Audi A3 is a lovely car, and would keep mine for as long as it was running.
I like the comfort and ride of the car, but don't really like the bulkyness of the estate version. But i guess you can't win em all

The Audi A3 Tdi Quattro Sport Holds The Road Asif
The Audi A3 TDi Quattro Sport holds the road asif its on rails. Servo steering is light during parking, accurate at high speed. The engine ...tdi 2.0 is very responsive. This is a proven chassis latest version is only a facelift ,some of the smaller engined models are underpowered (non quatro). The quatro version with 2.0 tdi 170hp(125kw) is up to the job.In all its a drivers car, other car makers could learn from this.

Definitely The Best Tdi I Have Ever Owned/driven,
Definitely the best TDI I have ever owned/driven, the overall package is even better than my Chev/Holden V8 and Alfa 156 V6 was.
Can't wait for the new TDI motor.

This Car Has To Be Driven To Be Believed....its Ha
This car has to be driven to be believed....Its had several mods from chipping,d-valve..etc etc only costing around £1300!
1st gear is really short but 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th last for ever with plenty of torque!!
All it says on the back is 1.9 TDI Quattro and looks completely standard.....
Peeps are always trying to race me but the look on their faces when i pull away from them is priceless!!!!
Yes there is a good remap place in Singleton, SSS Remap its called I think.
I'm looking at gettiing the Audi A3 2.0tdi 170hp quattro, the book says that once remapped, it will be delivering 200hp, what do you guys reckon the 0-60 will be on that?
Im Sid and this question is to anyone who can help..I currently own a 330d BMW and have had it for approx 1 year, how much will i benefit from a remap, (i have had it over 163mph clock speed) i live in the North east and can anyone recommend a place i can go for a remap. If i dont remap this i will be buying a 3.0 tdi qauttro Audi which will be def remapped..
I think your wrong about the 0-60 time, because I raced one the other day in my C230k, and I've only modded mine with a sprint booster/ECU remap and an exhaust totalling just under 240 bhp. He didnt stand a chance to say the least... but I was shocked at how fast he was off the line... still my car does 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds at BEST.
Scoobz, would i be right in assuming you drive an Impretza? If so it figures, you talk of snobbery but it seems apparent to me you hold the usual superior tone of somebody driving a Suburu. An A3 tdi to that spec is quite capable of obtaining those figures and indeed the quttro system is needed more in a diesel to put power down than a petrol due to the extra torque which leads the wheels to loose traction. There is an awful lot of technology in a modern VAG diesel engine, much more I hasten to add than an impretza. Good day.
I don't mean to be offensive but your figures are way out.
The 1.9TDi engine is impressive and when remapped it will indeed manage some staggering performance but it will NOT ever manage a 0-62mph time of under 6.5 seconds (let alone your stated 5.8), even if you had slick tyres and a bone dry drag strip the gearing and low rev limitations prevent diesels from being effective from a standing start. In a petrol version the time would be enhanced by the Quattro system but only because it allows use of the power (via traction) through the rev range up to peak power, with a TDi it is too difficult to obtain a quick shift and get a benefit from the improved traction.
Give the car a rolling start and it is a different story. Then the TDi would really show its colours by having the torque but still it isn't anything spectacular, just rapid.
The Ibiza TDi (160bhp TDi Cupra) will remap exactly the same as the A3 and is in a lighter car, hence it is just as quick.
My Ibiza will run 0-62mph in 6 seconds and the 1/4mile in 14s, then again mine runs on petrol pushing 215bhp and a rev limiter at 7000 rpm not 4.5k...!!
The VAG Diesel engines are very impressive but don't make them out to be 'supercar' performers or enter into the "my car's better than yours" argument like a "1.1 litre Saxo driver", I thought better of a VAG owner, obviously I was wrong and 'snobbery' still exists towards the other brands of the VAG company.
