Brilliant ,brilliant, Brilliant
My wife pointed it out in the paper , she,d never seen one, l said I wouldn't be seen dead in one. But she persuaded me to take her to see it ,.y reg 74 thou genuine miles, started it up and have to say the engine sounded so sweet I started to give it the benefit of the doubt . We went for a test run and fell hook line and sinker, they just do every thing you ask of them , no complaints. We went to cornwall from yorkshire and it got 4 of us and all our camping gear and clothes down there and it felt like I,d driven ten minutes down the road . Don't be put off by the looks , its like that cos it is so damn practical. Its also very economical ,we regularly get 45+ mpg , some pratt rear ended ours and wrote it off ,gutted! But guess what we are looking for now ,? Nothing else comes close , buy one you,ll not regret it ,:-)

It Was With Some Trepidation That I Sold My 2001 J
It was with some trepidation that I sold my 2001 Jaguar 3.2 XJ8 Sport for a 2004 diesel Multipla, albeit a top of the range Mk1. Having taken early retirement my role was now to be chief babysitter for 2 granddaughters and the immaculate cream leather Jag interior was decidedly at risk!!
I got good deals on both the Jag and Multipla and I rapidly became a Multipla Mk1 fan. I love its looks. I like 'quirky' and the Mk1 is unlike any other MPV on the road. I used to wonder why people were flashing me but now I do it to other MK1 owners myself.
The Multipla is so practical and having removed the rear parcel shelf my grandkids can have a comfortable nap in fully reclining rear seats!! These same seats also quickly unclip and can be removed turning the car into a van.
The beauty of this MPV though is that it drives like a much smaller car.
My 115 JTD is very nimble and its acceleration takes quite a few people by surprise.
My grandkids love the fact that both front and rear central seats can be turned into picnic tables, and I love the fact that the upholstery and trim is so robust and easy to clean.
I don't regret buying my MK1( in fact it has turned out to be an inspired choice ) and I can't see a natural successor to this car.

Bought 1.9jtd From New And I Would Buy Another If
Bought 1.9JTD from New and I would buy another if they made the bug eyed design. Multipla is definately a grower, it never fails to let you down and is the ultimate in practicality. Only car that comes close currently is the Honda FRV. Had discs replaced, cambelt, clutch and flywheel, bottom front arms are a weak point also only regular wear and tear. The 1.9 JTD handles fantastic for a big car and 0-60 in just over ten secs feels quick. Great, comfy cruiser. BUY ONE!

When I First Considered A Fiat Multipla I Was Worr
When i first considered a Fiat Multipla i was worried what i was letting myself in for.As being from a large family and with plenty of friends i was expecting people to take the p**s out of me for owning such a lovely looking car,but i can honestly say i didn't get one remark. As never owning a Fiat before i always believed that the build quality and engines were very poorly made.My Multipla is 9yrs old and is the JTD diesel version which is the top of the range. Its not got a bit of rust and engine runs like a dream. As being a father of four my two eldest children often fight to sit a the front as being a 3+3 seating plan. The drivers seat is electric and adjusts very high and i can see over most of the cars infront which gives added thinking distance.Just like when i was in the Mini owners club, every time you pass another Multipla owner while out and about all passangers give a wave and drivers give a quick flash of the headlights.Would i ever sell mine ????????????????? No..

Bought Our Fiat Multipla 1.9 Jtd Elx New (sep 2000
Bought our Fiat Multipla 1.9 JTD ELX new (Sep 2000). 2 years later we emigrated to New Zealand and took it with us. We still have it (Mar 2009 at 90,000 miles) - this is a testament to our car's practicality, economy & reliability.
In 9 years the repairs have been : New Front Discs (73,000 miles); New Drivebelt (74,000 miles); New Clutch (75,000 miles); New Glow Plugs (85,000 miles). Cam Belt was replaced at 85,000 miles.
General question for the vehicle manufacturers : Why, since Henry Ford started mass producing in early 1900's, do 99% of vehicles still have the same seat configuration - especially since the Multipla has proven the way in 3-abreast ?

My Later Version Of Fiat Multipla (2005) Has Been
My later version of Fiat Multipla (2005) has been quite a surprise to me. So far (49000 miles) no problems. Besides reliability, it's economical, spacious, light and comfortable. Been back and forwards to continent with luggage and passengers many times - great to get 6 people in comfort. No other MPV can do that. Didn't expect this from Fiat.

The Fiat Multipla Is A Design Classic - No Other C
The Fiat Multipla is a design classic - no other car that I have driven fulfils the need to transport up to 6 people + luggage in quite the same way. For example, the vertical sides give plenty of shoulder room and stop drips from landing on the seats in the rain. The 3x3 seating gives a short car that, width allowing, is easy to manoevre. The space frame chassis gives a low centre of gravity, and the firm suspension and the width add up surprisingly fun handling. And while minor bits have broken down it has never left me on the roadside. My main gripe is with our local Fiat dealer. For each repair I noiw book it in three times; once so they can fail to bodge a quick repair, once so they can order the wrong part and once to actually fix it. Otherwise, the rear electric boot release has not worked since I bought it (dealer repair attempts pointless), the seat fabrics wore very quickly and it lack s some of the clever family touches of, say, a C4 Picasso such as easy rear seats and enough cubby holes. However, overall it has been my favourite car of the past 20 years. Put it this way, twice we have bought cars to "replace" the Multipla as our main family car, and the Multipla is still here while the replacements are gone. We have just bought a much newer and posher CRV because we are looking to buy a caravan (the Multipla is too light to tow a family sized 'van -hence my point above), but no prizes for guessing which keys I reach for in the morning.

Owned The Car For Nearly Five Years. Bought It At
Owned the car for nearly five years. Bought it at nearly three years old. Had most if not all the known regular problems. When they go wrong they are a pain like any car, but when they go right, fortunately most of the time, they are better than anything else like it on the road. When your used to the width thewy are easy to park being short, they tow well as the wheelsare at each corner and they sit squat to the road. Unlike normal people carriers thessuspension is firm so even fully laden road holding is excellent. One up some may think they are a little bumpy some may sporting....er, honest! The commonest model is the 1.9 diesel which is very economical. The 1.6 petrol can be a bit revvy and less economical.
