The Ford Galaxy Is Great When It Is Ok But Sadly I
The Ford Galaxy is great when it is OK but sadly it seems to be a common problem with injectors. Had it in the garage more than on the road, changed the 4 injectors which are £500+vat each plus labour (£2800 in total). Same symptoms after 18 months! Can't wait to get rid of it.
Seems to me that people are not aware of the different diesel quality and the injectors as well as power and MPG suffer (as does your pocket) I have several people saying buy Shell fuel and get more MPG, it seems to be true and cleaner burning means the injectors last longer without needing treatment.
It is normal even with modern fuel to put an additive in your tank at least annually to keep the injectors at full flow. Electronic issues are a bit different but not so common.
The older Galaxy has often gone to 250,000 to 3000,000 miles and my own 2003 TDi has done nearly 200,000 only needing a new clutch and a turbo rebuild so it is possible for a Mk11 galaxy to be reliable for 10 years with lots of use, regards Tigerdee1

Have Had This Car For 4 Years And Am Currently Loo
Have had this car for 4 years and am currently looking to change, as it has become too expensive on repairs even at this young age. I have only done 40,000 miles in the car and expected it to last a while longer yet, before the expensive repairs started being needed.

Overall, the Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDi Ghia 130 Bhp is superb. I have had many big estate cars and a Zafira. The Galaxy beats the Zafira hands down on everything but the folding seats. I tow a caravan and although the Zaf handled it fairly well the towing weight (1500Kg) is rubbish. Galaxy on the other hand pulls my twin axled job effortlessly.
I really love owning and driving this car. The kids love it in the back as they have the multimedia kit to play with. Boot space and having to take the seats out is a bit of a bind but you know this before you buy the car.
Diesel fuel is really good as is the power of the 130bhp unit.
Seats are nice and firm and comfortable as is the driving position.
Climate control takes a while to get going, but I generally put everything on high until you get warm. Heated screen is awesome, very quick!
This model is a 03 reg, overall, Extermely happy
