The Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti Type Is A Very Fast Car

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type is a very fast car and lots of bang for your buck. The STI is a very sure footed car and is a great base to modify. Over 300bhp is easily achievable (although mine is standard 265bhp).Bought from a main dealer who were not very good.

Agree with the majority of that and I'm pleased you are happy with your Subaru!!

I currently have one for weekend fun and it never fails to put a smile on my face. Mine is the UK spec car 04 STI but with quite a few modifications, including wheels, suspension, exhaust, clutch, ECU, etc... Running 348bhp and 356lbft, so it is relatively quick to say the least and very sure footed on the road.

If I was to scale-up my weekend entertainment I would probably have to go along the route of getting a Skyline R34 GTR, Noble M12, Ferarri 430 or Porsche 911 Turbo to make any significant improvement over the Impreza!

It also has 4 doors, a big boot and sounds beautiful.... Shame the stereo is rubbish as standard and the dashboard a bit tacky... Oh well, I listen to the exhaust/engine rather than the stereo!

I Got This My Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti Type Uk New I

I got this my Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type UK new in April 03 after having had a 1996 model Japanese Import WRX.

GOOD Points - First impressions were that it was far smoother, handled better and was far better built with much less road noise. The front seats are very supportive and very comfy.

I've found that it is very sure footed and instills confidence in heavy rain / snow etc. I think I'd be safe enough if I were to crash it godforbid.

It has been 100% reliable over the last 10,000 miles and servicing has been reasonable too. The perfomance is great, with a much better spread of power across the rev range than older models as the variable valve timing gives it that extra bit of power when it's needed.

The distinctive flat four rumble always brings a smile to my face when the throttle is opened up!

It's pretty comfy, but can be a little 'bouncy' on B roads etc

THE BAD - Fuel economy is poor. OK, I know it's not going to be great in any performance car, but I'd expect more than 21 mpg average!

There have been a couple of annoying rattles in the dashboard, which I've had to 'pack' up with foam.

The Subaru dealers I've visited have never been the most helpful to say the least and all seem a bit up themselves. I think they need reminding it's basically just a fast family car they're selling, not a Ferrari!!

Overall, I would buy another, but may be swayed towards a more refined Audi S4.
