Mitsubishi L200 Animal Double-Cab

the l200 i have is not all it seems!guy i bought from deals in 4x4's n the engine blew on him. he doesn't rate the engines atall. anyway he fitted a 96 pajero engine n it goes well. now is v reliable not speedy but loads low down grunty power. rev counter not working or fancy electric mirrors, but real workhorse. great thru the snow and towing and the kids abuse!

Purchased a new Animal 2.5TD as a company vehicle in March 2005 [after running a 3.0 V6 on LPG for 4 years without issues]. Average mileage 26K/yr mostly motorway driving, would be more if vehicle had been available for use 24/7 52 wks/yr.

34K - new engine & radiator fitted.

68K - top end rebuild & radiator replaced.

102K - top end rebuild & radiator replaced.

130K - replacement engine & radiator fitted.

131K - replacement engine fitted.

All warranty repairs thus far & as a result of overheating & water loss apart from the engine that lasted 1K when the crank shaft snapped in two.

143K - running hot & off the road again overheating & loosing water, diagnosed as cylinder head/head gasket issue, currently at main dealers awaiting confirmation of problem once dismantled. No longer under warranty & Mitsubishi have estimated as much as £1700 + vat for getting the truck back on the road even though the last foc engine has only done 12K.

All work including servicing at the recommended intervals has been carried out by the same main dealer apart from when the alternator fell off & replaced by another Mitsubishi dealer.

Lemon yellow would be a more apt colour for this vehicle!!

L200 animal had for 12 months and had engine blow luckily under warranty but have a feelin this wont be the last time.

Had new engine ordered and it also had a defect, this then happened again when they sent a second replacement i'm starting to think that all the engines are usless.

Off the road now for a month and still waiting.

Oh well at least they gave me a 1.1L corsa!!!!!!

Do not invest!

i have a L200 i have had for nearly 2 years now, whe i brought the4x4it was allready used and the owner befor had have everything changed from lights to the ecu the standerd 99bhp are good L200 but the upgrade hasa lot more pulling power, but i do think that the L200 is more of a luxary 4x4 as they cost way to much to run round town and round the village, but also you wll find with the L200 that they are grate when it comes to a little bit of mud but when it startsgeting deep you will find the back end is way to light but asits bee snowing real bad this week i havebeen out for a play and i think they are grate when it comesto snow but as i sed if you want it to play with i recomend not to because its very easy to get stuck as the back end has no weight behind it.

Head gaskets and engines a real problem fail constantly mitsubishi will wash their hands of them denying there is a problem ......do an internet search and draw your own conclusion (l200 animal with ECU upgrade is worst)

mine two head gaskets and needed new engine in less than three years on the road.

My Mitsubishi L200 Animal bought from new in 2006 has just done 50,000 miles and has Just had the Head Gasket go for the THIRD TIME!

Do not buy a L200 unless you have plenty of money for head gaskets. Mitsubishi do not stand by the product either.

Looks and drives great but engine is cr ap!

The new Mitsubishi L200 Animal is great a vast improvement on the old model I upgraded from the Warrior althugh I loved the Warrior but this Animal is totally different, from the ride to the sheer power it is great and looks stunning. The interior is much improved although the lack of cup holders is dissappointing but the legroom in the back is much improved and more comfortable for passengers. The rear electric window is a great feature.

The Mitsubishi L200 Animal Double-Cab is good looking and good fun

I love the styling of the new l200,a real head turner with all the chrome upgrades that come as standard on my animal.

The cabin is a comfortable, well equipped place to be.

If you are going for the new l200 make sure you get the engine power upgrade that comes as standard with the animal,money well spent.

Fuel consumption has vastly improved from the last model, I'm getting around 33 mpg which compared to 25 mpg if your lucky on the old l200 is a great improvement!

I think the l200 animal is great value for money for all the equipment that you get as standard, you would be talking another eight grand for a similar spec shogun.

my animal has been very reliable so far touch wood, so I don't think you can go far wrong with this truck.
