Great Little Runner Combo 1.3cdti 2009
I bought my 2009 ex-BT van with 110,000 miles on it. The turbo actuator wastegate valve was stuck which is a common problem. Easy fix which took ten minutes with ramps, WD40, and a long screwdriver.
It goes like a little dream. very comfortable (I'm 5`9") and economical. I drive approx 160 miles a day to and from work with a heavy load in it and it`s now just coming up to 140,000 miles and still runs like a watch.
If you can do basic maintenance and change your oil and filters etc every 6000 miles it will last a long time and it is much more responsive than the old 1.7 diesel Isuzu (I had one). Timing chains will break if you run them low on oil or neglect and abuse the engine.
It looks like some reviewers on here have either neglected their vehicle or just found one that was thrashed to within an inch of its life (usually ex-PO). It`s quite true that a lot of people only find out where the bonnet catch is after they break down.
Even though the engine is an Italian Multijet, it does not mean that it is rubbish. These are great little engines.

Great Wee Van
I bought my little combo 1.3 diesel a year ago and I love it. Great on fuel, used for taking my dogs out and going camping. And I can't fault it. It was governed when I got it so had that sorted and needed a new key. And that's it. I highly recommend one, just look after it and regular servicing as you should any vehicle...

Good Work Van
Great work can, very economical on fuel, needs few parts every time it gets D.O.E'd but enstalling them yourself will save you a couple of thousand. Not the most comfortable but it's grand. I've had this van three years and the van is now 6 years old. Van holds a fair load for it's size. It can be annoying as the windscreen Water holder only holds a handful of water so it takes a refill every week or so.
Dont Buy Combo Vans
I bought my combo at 3years old with just 15k on the clock and extensive service history.
It had problems starting from then.
It immobilized itself at needed £600 of second hand parts(ecu and all that)
Cam chain snapped, cost me £500.
Just been told today, needs 4 injectors and pressure fuel pump has leak, quoted £1100 so its getting scrapped with just 50k on the clock.
Before this I had a vivaro with similar injector problems and a bill for £3800 and was just out of warranty.
I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER VAUXHALL !!!!

Good On Diesel But Thats About It
i bought a combo 1.3cdti on a 05 plate with 81k on it,if you drive down the motorway at 60mph you would get 600 miles out of a tank of 52 litres which is great.
the bad bits were that the gear linkege snapped, the water pump broke,i had water coming through into the cab on the floor on the drivers side and through the glove box on the passenger side, the central locking had a mind of its own.
finally after 2 years the engine blew up after 116k and it went to the scrapyard
if the build quality was better then it would be so much better
Q&A
Hi i have a 2005 combovan 1.3 cdti and the ABS is making a horible clumping noise whenever i brake. Is it possibe to dissengague the ABS as i think it will be too expensive to fix?
When does the cambelt need changing?
I have got slight oil leak, with little spots on the driveway. What can this be?

2007 1.3cdti combo timing chain broke, after rebuild van start first time, but no revs only in idle, when press the pedel just go near 1200 then 600 rpm.
