Vauxhall Vivaro 57 Reg

Had van when it was 2yrs old. Has been a very reliable works van, with comfort, speed & economical on fuel.

Only today had a major problem only had 1st gear and gear stick was floppy could not select other gear or put it in neutral. Vauxhall quoted £220 new gear selector cables plus fitting. Went on utube common fault, open bonnet and on the right side of engine the gearbox housing is attached on top of the housing looking down on it is a lever with a mushroom lug where the gear selector nylon cable end connects onto, This wears and pops off COMMON FAULT they all say new cables. THERE IS A REPAIR CLIP FOR THIS FAULT only £7.00 on EBay. Saved me hundreds hope this helps if you come across this problem.

Envy Of The Transit Owner For Years

HAD MINE 3 YEARS, COST NO MORE TO RUN AND SERVICE THAN ANY OTHER BRAND IVE HAD OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS IE NISSAN, FORD, VAUXHALL, VW.

EX FLEET HIRE ARE JUNK AND REVIEWS FROM TIGHT ARSES WHO BUY ONE CHEAP AND THEN SLATE THEM HERE ALONG WITH TRANNY OWNERS IS UNFAIR TO THE RELIABILITY, STYLE AND FANTASICNESS OF THESE GREAT AND VERY POPULAR VANS.

THE INTERNET IS FULL OF BULLSHIT...DONT BUY ONE ITS YOUR LOSS.

Engine Failure

BOUGHT A USED 1.9CDTI FAMILY BUS A YEAR AGO KEPT ALL THE SERVICES REGULAR.ON A VACATION IN DECEMBER 2012 HAD A BREAKDOWN 300 KILOMETERS AWAY FROM HOME. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO GENERAL MOTORS IN THE EAST-RAND. EVER SINCE GENERAL MOTORS CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM.GUESSING INJECTORS AND FUEL PUMP, THEN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, THEN BACK TO DIESEL PROBLEM TO RE SERVICE INJECTORS AFTER 5 MONTHS SAY TO ME ENGINE SEIZED.I THINK THAT THE MANUFACTURERS/SERVICE PROVIDER OF THIS VEHICLE IS INCOMPETENT IN TERMS OF REPAIRING THE SAID VEHICLE.THE SALES TEAM MUST DISCLOSE THE COSTING OF REPAIRS AND HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO MAINTAIN THIS BUS eg. ENGINE RECONDITION IS R85000,00 AND NEW R123000,00 THIS IS A RIP OFF.

ANOTHER THRASHED EX FLEET LEMON.

annonomys

join the club, exactly the same hapened to me and i also used a GM Dealership on the east rand, they dont know what thet are doing with the cars. its not the car that is bad it is the workmanship from GM due to they dont have trained staff for those vehicles, mine cost me close to R200 000 up to now since my motor broke down and that was all caused by n faulty fanbelt that GM installed.

terrible vans not reliable have had one for 2 years and nothing but hassle with injectors and fuel pump , Vauxhall should be held responsible as they are not fit for purpose or relyabilty, they loose power , had a Toyota haice for 5 years all I did was change oil and tyres and will be going back to one

SPOT ON.

MAINTAINED WITH PROPER OIL AND FILTER ON TIME ALONG WITH CAREFUL RESPECTFUL DRIVING THESE VANS ARE VERY RELIABLE.

EX FLEET HIRE ARE THRASHED AND UNLOVED SO WILL BE JUNK.

VIVARO IS THE MOST COMMON SIGHT ON THE ROADS EVEN TODAY.

THAT SAYS IT ALL.......

Vivaro's Need Looking After !!!!!

Had my long wheel base 06 vivaro for six and half years, just let me down for the first time.

had new clutch, slave cylinder and master cylinder and gear oil,a supply pipe inc labour £543.00

I drop the oil every 10000 mile and keep the brakes up to scratch.

One thing i would pass on to other owners is cover the engine with a sheet of visqeen as best you can because when it rains, the air intake on the bonnett leeks and the water drops onto the top of the engine and seeps down into the cylinders, found this out not long after i bought it as it used to blow out clouds of condensated smoke always after being stood in the rain,it was cured overnight with this simple solution and i believe has saved me a fortune over the years.

Great van but next time its a toyota or vw for me

REMOVE SCUTTLE PANEL, SEAL WITH SILICONE AND BOLT BACK TOGETHER, NO MORE WATER ON INJECTORS, COUPLE HOURS WORK, EASY JOB FOR HOME MECHANIC.

ENGINES ARE SO REFINED, QUICK, AND ECONOMICAL FOR SIZE OF VAN.

SLICK GEAR CHANGE ONCE WARMED UP.

BEST VALUE FOR MONEY ON MARKET IF YOU BUY WISE IE 1 OWNER,FULL SERVICE HISTORY, MINT CONDITION ETC EVEN A 7 YR OLD WILL BE RUST FREE AND SHOULD LOOK HALF IT AGE....BEST THING IS THERE ARE HUNDREDS FOR SALE SO YOU CAN BE FUSSY.

BEST VAN ON THE UKS ROAD BY A LONG MILE

Love My Van !

I bought my vivaro van 19tdi from new on a o6 plate, its been a hard working tool from day 1

I have not had any probs with it up to now, I have it serviced once a year by the main dealers ( silly me ) but i do need this van to be in tip top condition for my work, however :-

just before xmas my indicators packed up, I spoke to a friend of mine who knows abit about cars and he said tap the hazard warning light switch a few times !! so I did and HAPPY DAYS they came back on, no more said untill 1 evening my neighbour called saying my alarm on my van was making funny noises so I ran out to see what was happening, I open the van and there was black smoke belowing out of the cab,it took me 10 mins to disconect the battery before the van was likely to go up in flames !!

Now with some invetigation i have learned it is the control modual that does the centrol locking and windscreen wipers and indicators,

I have yet to get this fixed and I can only think that this is going to be expensive as i think it has melted the wiring as well.

I cant drive it to a garage so i need to find a mobile auto-electrician.

My van has done nearly 80,000 miles and with this problem arising I would still go out and buy another 1 tomorrow.

Has any 1 had this problem b4 ??

If so how much did it cost to repair ??

Feed back would be appreciated

Thanks

Steve

Alternator

i have a 2005 Vxhall vivaro 1.9 CDTI. So far has been a great van .

Does anyone know if a factory recon. Alternator. have any warranty ? Had one fitted about 6 months ago and its on its way out.

Do Not Buy One Of These Unless You Have Deep Pockets

Bought the 115 version of this Van in March 2011 had done 63000 full serivice history.

by March 2012 at 85000 had 0202 code replaced no 2 injector £700.00 now got 1 and 3 injectors gone at 90000.

Garage say they have a new puller and may as well have the remaining 3 done, if they come out clean £800.00 otherwise £2000.00.

My daughter has an L plate Vauxhall Astra done 85000 cost £500.00 3 Years ago, runs like a dream. make no mistake these vans are rubbish.

BRUCE1000

GOOGLE SEIZED INJECTORS, MOST ALLOY HEADS ARE PRONE TO STICKING INJECTORS DUE TO DISSIMILAR METALS.

COMMON THESE DAYS ON MOST BRANDS OF CARS AND VANS.

VIVARO MADE WORSE BY WATER SEEPING THROUGH SCUTTLE JOINT ONTO HEAD AFTER A FEW YEARS USE.

EASY FIX FOR SCUTTLE, AND BRUSH PETROLIUM GREASE AROUND TOP OF INJECTORS...That applies to all manufacturers,

BRUCE1000

SEAL THE SCUTTLE WHEN YOU BUY ONE OF THESE, THE JOINT LAPS THE WRONG WAY ALLOWING WATER TO SIT ON THE JOIN AND EVENTUALLY SEEP THROUGHT THE FOAM SEAL AS IT HARDENS OVER THE YEARS.

REMOVE WIPERS, UNBOLT SCUTTLE, CLEAN OFF FOAM AND REPLACE WITH LOTS OF SILICONE, BOLT BACK TOGETHER AND THIS WILL STOP WATER DRIPPING ONTO INJECTORS SEIZING THEM IN HEAD.

SIMPLE JOB, PROBLEM SOLVED.

VIV-NIGEL

I agree. My van is a 2008 two litre CDTI, Done 75000 miles and injector 1 failed. Paid Vauxhall dealer £700 to repair and now two weeks later injector 3 has failed.

Another £700 !!!!! Why do we have to pay for the manufacturers design faults all the time. Will never buy a Vauxhall again.

Treat Them Well They Are Great Vans

I've had a few problems with mine I had a fuel injector go on me but I blame sainsburys fuel on that, i now put bp in, and now and then a additive I've never had that problem for years.

These vans like be looked after you don't then you have problems and belive its expensive. Clutch went at 50,000 thought that was a bit quick but changed it now its on 115,000 no problems. My gear leaver pin has worn thought it was the cables that was 160pounds wasted bought a new pin for 20 off a scrappy. Windscreen wiper relay went found out the relay is in the motor so had to change the whole dam thing.

Either than that they dive great keep the gearbox oil topped and the oil changed and good fuel you will have a great van that drives better than most vans.
