Online ordered an oil filter for 1 week without notification for collection, it is just like a sham without any staff would help

Halford simply cancel my order by itself without my confirmation.

Diabolical Customer Service From Halfords

Diabolical attitude by Halfords

Halfords are usually good with their customer service. But NOT on this occasion. Absolutely bloody diabolical in fact!

I purchased several items online and choose home delivery. You guessed it - no delivery. The delivery agents DHL misplaced the package in their own delivery depot.

With that in mind I attempted to contact Halfords using the Live Chat feature. Waste of time. I was promised a response with 48hrs. NO RESPONSE.

I contacted Halfords on Messenger on social media - NO RESPONSE.

I finally telephoned Halfords Customer service and after being on hold for 15 minutes, I had to report the missing package all over again! This time, Halfords promised a response in 72 hours - NO RESPONSE.

Due to the non delivery and inaction by Halfords, I have had to resort to my card company initiating a chargeback refund.

Disgraceful customer service from Halfords. And yes, I now await a 'copy and paste' response from Halfords to this monologue!

Ps. My order reference is quoted below, so please don't respond with a "generically generated" post asking of a order reference number, 'cos it's there.

Bad Experience With Work Carried Out After Mot

Earlier this year I had servicing and MOT at Halfords which was fine until they carried out the brake work necessary as highlighted through MOT. My cars dipstick was not put in properly by mechanic, which subsequently lead to an oil leak. I was also left with a strange engine noise which I didn't have prior to visiting Halfords. I'm sorry standards seem to have dropped at this branch of Halfords. They were exceptionally short staffed in February(2024)and I expect this contributed to accidental error, which is no excuse for putting driver safety at risk.

Mot

Had my car in for its mot today and I was told it has failed because of the dim lights. Smiling away when telling me it failed. Instead of showing me the failed paperwork you should have showed me the problem. And to make matters worse they have damaged my car seat causing it to recline half way. So now if I can’t fix the seat myself I have to pay more money in having another garage sort it out. Thank you so much to the two Halford mechanics for giving me the worst experience ever. I will never return.

Free Checks

Booked (Booking Number: A230B038952) few free checks two weeks in advance online. Recieved a call from the Autocentre 5pm the day before to say they can not carry out the free services, as it would take them 4 hours to complete the free services. The centre wanted me to book a full service instead. I said why didn't they call me before but the reply was they were going through the jobs now. I said I would have to cancel and they said yes cancel. They did not care at all. Poor customer service and should not offer free checks if you can not honour the service.

Useless

USELESS

I ordered a car audio system with apple play, and a reversing camera, paid £750 in advance, was given a fitting date which was nearly 2 weeks away. Turned up for fitting after getting the day off work and they hadn’t got it.So just cancelled the whole thing. Now I have to wait up to 5 days for my money back, lost a full days wages and not a very happy customer. They had all my details, email phone number etc but didn’t even let me know in advance, so I could have not lost a days pay !!

I have used Halfords for over 30 years but will not be returning even if I have to travel and is more expensive, this is not the way a large company should treat its customers. If you are going to use them I suggest you pay the smallest deposit you can, as it takes days to get your money back !!!!!!

Re Rear View Windscreen Wiper.

Just back from an unsuccessful visit to your Wellingborough store to have a new rear view wiper blade fitted to my Jaguar F Pace. At reception the assistant said that his computer screen showed no such wiper blade for an F Pace but that he might be able to find something similar. At the fitting bay he couldn't remove the wiper and suggested I try somewhere else. After speaking to my local Orbit Tyres depot I'm havings new blade fitted this afternoon. All in all my visit to Halfords was a complete waste of time .

Waste Of Time And Fuel

32 mile round trip to my nearest Halfords - complete waste of time and fuel.

I’d never had to replace a number plate before, so I rang their customer service number before leaving home and asked whether I needed to bring any thing. Just my ID, said the person who neither spoke nor understood the English language effectively.

After driving all the way there I was told I needed the V5 document.

So all the idiots managed to achieve today was one markedly furious individual who will neither visit a Halford’s again nor recommend them to anyone else.

Halfords Mobile Service; Battery Replacement

My encounter with Halfords Mobile Battery Service left me thoroughly dissatisfied. Despite booking a (home fitment service) battery replacement with a fitment slot between 8 am and 8 pm for the following day, the scheduled fitment day turned out to be a disappointment. At 3 pm, I received a call from their representative, informing me that they lacked the necessary battery for the replacement. This lack of foresight and prompt communication was truly perplexing. After reaching out to customer service, I was informed that the specific battery type wasn't available in stock for the day.

Despite reassurances from customer service, I rescheduled for the subsequent day, aiming for a fitment window between 4 pm and 6 pm. However, history repeated itself with another no-show. Despite being told the engineer was en route and would arrive shortly after 6:15, they failed to materialize. Following a frustrating third call to customer service, the only offered solution was to reschedule. However, given the circumstances, I deemed rebooking unacceptable and promptly requested a refund.

This dismal experience has firmly convinced me to steer clear of Halfords in the future. Despite lodging two complaints, I'm not optimistic about receiving a satisfactory response, given the lackluster service I've encountered.

Q&A

Minxy129

Hi, I have a Peugeot 207 on a 10 plate, I noticed my coolant level is slightly below the minimum, what type do I need? Have I done any damage driving it like this? I noticed the temp gauge isn't rising... eek? Is this the reason?

I have Halfords roof bars on my Citroen Xsara Picasso which I need to remove as I don't use them. The car came with the roof bars already attached. Are there instructions anywhere to show me what to do? Thanks

On the Apollo Childrens fire chief bike, how to u fit the 9v battery inside the speaker? What is the purpose of the small black rectangular piece of plastic inside it? It seems to be taking up a lot of space and I cannot close the megaphone after fitting the battery.

I am looking to get a major service done on my BMW 325i M Sport. Halfords Autocentre have quoted around the £300 mark. Is Halfords Autocentre reliable enough to complete this sufficiently for such a low price?

Thanks All. I think I've heard enough to warrant not using them. Heard nothing but bad reviews.

Come to think of it, I remember (albeit that it was a halfords shop) them struggling to change a lightbulb last time.

Think I'll steer clear.

Does anybody know what the weight of the womens Carrera crossfire 2 2014 model, 20 inch frame is? I can't seem to find it in the specifications on the website.

Thanks!

If my car fails its MOT on minor things like bulbs etc, will Halfords fix them there and then and do a re test some day?

Thanks

Photomic

I have a Citroen C8 which had blown headlight bulb. Went to Halfords to get it changed. "Oh yes we can do it for you". The guy started working on the car. 45 mins later, after he had joined by three other Halfords "engineers", they gave up. At least they did not charge for the greasy bulb.

I drove to the main dealer. Their service guy said "clock me when I do it". Two minutes and 37 seconds later the bulb was fixed.

This took place in 2013, I doubt that anything has changed since.

How much does it cost to put air in my air forks on my mountain bike? Thanks

luckynegi

I can't speak for other bike shops or mechanics but I suggest you do it yourself because it is so simple. A standard tube pump will not do the
