Shambles Of A Company

I had a replacement Windscreen replaced through my insurance company Sage who appointed these installers. Started with failure of fitters to turn up on the agreed dates which I had to take time off work for. When the windscreen was finally replaced it leaked badly and soaked the interior of my Range Rover Sport. This company is trying to deny responsibility even though I had investigations carried out by 2 other companies who said the windscreen hadn't been fitted properly. They refuse to call me back or pay for a replacement Windscreen or the drying out of my water damaged vehicle and its electrics. In the end I have had to get the windscreen replaced by another company at my own cost along with booking my car in to repair the water damage. Saga also very unhelpful in this matter and expected me to try and sort these issues out with the installers that they appointed.

I now how a huge bill to pay for the damage to my car from the badly installed Windscreen.

If your insurance appointed them to do repair your windscreen say no and save yourself a whole lot of heartache and expense.

After A Poor Repair My Windscreen Was Redone By An Expert

On 11 July the windscreen in my Subaru Forrester was replaced, he started by saying he was not sure he had the screen on his van which was unhelpful, he did the job very quickly and was not keen for me to check it. Being a trusting person I assumed he had done a good job.

When I got in the car later that day the windscreen was very dirty with the round marks where he had used a sucker to put the screen in and there were bits of black rubber/plastic all over the place inside the car which I had to clean up. Two weeks later when cleaning the car myself I noticed that the passenger corner of the windscreen had been damaged when put in and there were cracks beginning to travel across the windscreen.

I telephoned Nationwide - now FMG and complained. The receptionist suggested he come back and put it right I refused as he did such a more job the first time. She sent me a more senior engineer. He immediately knew what had gone wrong and how the damage had happened. He explained every detail clearly and did mention that the previous guy had also dislodged a part of the windscreen and had not bothered to find it, under the Drivers seat, and replace it. He was efficient, very helpful and pleasant, explained what he was doing and did a fabulous job.

If only the original guy had admitted that he had made a mistake and rebooked the job with a new windscreen things would have been much easier.

So a very poor job rescued a month later, thank you.

What A Let Down

This morning I was mrnt to have my screen replaced after waiting 8 days for an appointment so the usual stuff happens turn down overtime wait in all day only to get a message from the engineer that he has been held up at this last job for over two hours and only just decided to send a message to let me know now so definitely not impressed with the communication at all and when I tried to rebook took over 30 minutes to get through so requested to speak to a manager let's see that happens. Such disgusting customer service and definitely not professional at all.

No Communication!

The internal operation is poor, it is only thanks to the field engineering team that I have given this company 3 stars. The people who answer the phones are good it's the ones in the background they call schedulers who need to COMMUNICATE!! I had a SAGA insurance claim because a stone caused a large crack across my L/R Discovery windscreen. It took a long time for the initial screen to be replaced, I had to chase to find out why it was taking so long, THERE IS NO PROACTIVE COMMUNICATION, no one calls to tell you what's happening. Eventually it was done but unfortunately had been fitted wrong and had to be replaced, this caused another long wait for a replacement screen - STILL NO UPDATES OR COMMUNICATION!! I had to phone them every 7 days to ask what was happening and try to find out when it might be fixed, the phone team couldn't answer this and they couldn't get any answer from their internal team. I don't mind a justifiable delay but EXPECT TO BE KEPT INFORMED. Because I didn't hear anything I assumed they had forgotten, so for 4 weeks I called them, every Friday. Eventually the Engineers sorted it out, thank you guys.

Told Three Times Which Window It Was. Brought The Wrong One.

I called because I needed my passenger rear door window replacing. The woman on the phone insisted that my window had TWO pieces of glass in it, even though I was looking at my car and I told her the window was just one solid piece of glass, she argued a little and then eventually agreed with me. When the technician turned up 10 days later, they had brought the wrong window (one that had 2 pieces of glass). So arrogant to think she was right even though I told them three times it was ONE piece of glass. They also gave the repair technician the wrong address. Full day off work with no pay for no reason. I've tried to ring to rebook the fitting, because it's cost me £85, but I've been on hold for 30 mins so far. DO NOT use this company. They have taken my money, not fixed my window and now they won't answer my calls.

Really Good.

They gave me a date to replace my windscreen and they came on that day. The fitter was very polite and helpful. Did a good job and made sure the vehicle was clean and tidy before he left could not have asked for more well done

Q&A

Reglab03

Could you confirm please that it is your company contracted to replace my Ford Kuga plug in car windscreen. This is through my Saga insurance. There have been delays, I have already paid the £75 to the company & am still waiting for the job to be done after 3 weeks due to problems incurred by your company.

If it isn’t your company any advice on who , It is not Nationwide.

PaulB65

How does anyone ever get a call back from Nationwide Motorglass ( Hastings Direct)? They pre-authorised £85 excess and promised call back within 24 hours. 5 days later they still hadn’t called back and blamed the weekend. Worse than that they held onto the excess pre authorisation for another 5 days. I cancelled with them and got the windscreen fitted with the other company on Hastings Glass line National Windscreens who don’t take any money until they carry out the work. Nationwide Motorglass are a complete disgrace.

stevehibbert1

Have Nationwide got a complaints procedure? I have had a screen recently fitted and has developed into a complete nightmare that's ended up costing me two lots of excess.

RedKiaRio

You have to complain through the call centre. Best of luck. Don't forget to leave your feedback once it has been resolved to your satisfaction.

Nick24aa

How long do you have to wait for them to contact you to arrange a date to repair your windscreen? It has been 2 working days now since initial phone call and I'm still without use of my car and no date to fix it.

RedKiaRio

Serious, If I was you I would go back to your insurance company and demand a different auto windscreen glass company. There is a company that drive nice RED vans (usually)and deal with most major insurance companies I have had to use this company several times and always find them most helpful and turn up when they say they will.

Now one thing I must point out FACT not all screen companies carry every screen and some car models alone can have several options for screens and this can cause even more delays.

I work in the auto industry and for instance a Ford Fiesta recent model has actually 5 different screens.

But a more direct answer is once the insurance company put you through you should get a day and time.

hope this helps

I have contacted Nationwide Motorglass numerous times with a complaint, I was advised to put this in writing by e-mail and I would receive a reply by today, I did as requested and sent the e-mail Monday. No call back today so I call yet again to be promised a call back, surprise surprise no call back again. You have confirmed you have my complaint so where do I complain to next?

PaulHands

Hi - to say I'm disappointed to find out that you've had a poor experience with us, then to make matters worse, we haven't had the courtesy to get back to you is a massive understatement - please contact me and I will personally resolve your issues. Please also accept my apologies in advance. Paul Hands, Head of Nationwide Motor Glass, NARS PLC.
