Yamaha R6 (2008)

After going from a 2001 R6, to a new 0 mile 2008 R6, the difference was absolutely amazing. The steering was spot on, handling tight corners, to pot holes. She handled better than any other leading brands on the market. The seat to the bars was the perfect length, and ground to inseam, was perfect. If you're a short person this motorcycle will suit you just fine! You may be tip towing, but on two wheels it is a perfect match. I personally think that all bikes should come with frame sliders, even know the end of the bars are technically bar sliders. they don't help the fairings, and tail. On the other hand I love the way that the rear end is made, its small, light weight and design is flawless. The shock, and linkage are stiff, but not enough to handle the everyday bumps. Its a lightweight bike, with top and bottom end with the perfect amount of torque and HP. One thing I hate about the new bikes, any new bike, is the fairing eliminator. They make it huge, ugly and bulky. You don't need everything they give you. I personally think that they need to include turn signals in the tail light and throw on a smaller license plate bracket. As a student at a motorcycle school, I'm not a fan of 4cyl Japanese bikes, but Yamaha is doing something right. When you drag a knee, it doesnt feel as if its going to slip from under neath you, it feels on point, traction is amazing and weight ration from the bike, you and the body, seems to just whip its self out of corners. So in conclusion, the 2008 Yamaha R6 is a flawless machine. Reliable, torque, HP and comfort. And after 2 years of owning the bike, taking care of it and riding every single day, I still get excited to jump on the bike and go for a ride!

I have had dozens of bikes, and this has to be the best built bike I have ever had. I even went on a tour to France on it and it proved to be perfectly comfortable for stints of 2 to 3 of hours at a time, My gearscac tailpack fitted well, and very secure with some of that grippy rubber mat stuff. I find the sports riding position very comfortable - double bubble screen fitted. I also prefer Yamaha for the longer 6000 mile service intervals, and also seem to cost less anyway. If kept above 10k revs will keep up with ANY bike around the twisties. I also think that Yam build quality is at least equal to Honda now - highly recommended.

Had a Suzuki gixxer k5 1000 before the Yamaha R6, this is a superb bike....get one.

Great front end 'feel'.....not experienced this much before. Road the demo bike and can't wait to get mine run in to experience the 12k rush again.

Well think after reading MCN I would have stayed with Honda, but think id be wrong wasn't sure on the tyres felt the front go a twice after 200 mile but my 1st time on Dunlop then again not been the weather for it due to strong winds and spills on road still plenty for me to learn about it for me, well done Yamaha.
