The Best And Most Reliable Touring Bike Around
The ST 1100 is a brilliant touring bike having taken me over 40 thousand trouble free miles around different parts of Europe.
You just get on it and it goes mile after mile after mile.
Changed to stainless steel exhaust as old on rusted badly and sorted out swing arm and bought protection for it. Also got memory foam in the seat so I could go for miles without a problem.
If you find one snap it up.
I am now looking to buy another Pan but this time a St1300 so anyone out there can tell me anything?

Bulletproof, Absolute Reliable Beast Of A Tourer
Bought my first ST1100 used, in 1997 and clocked over 350,000km in under 4 years. Then traded it in for a ST1100Y (2001 model) with a beefed up 40amp alternator. Now 11 years later, it is still soldering on without any issues. Changed the alternator, starter relay, clutch sensor, timing belt, water pump, some time back. Other than the usual oil and tire change, there are no issues with the bike at all. I can take it up to northern Thailand from Singapore and bike on a dime and not worried that it will break down on me. Its a shame they don't build bikes like this anymore.

Best In The Whole World!
137,000km and still running!
only oil and gaz... like a car!
in 10 years, I got only two problems, shutting valve came defect 3 years ago, $50 repear, and a broken wire around cooling fan after a very rough road in northern Quebec to visit Manic 5 power dam.
Do you know a motorcycle which battery lasted 10 years?
I changed battery last year... before I got starting problems.
Best than a women... it never say NO!
If I absolutely want to find a reason to dislike it a little, it's gravity center is quite high, not for those who are to very small or weak.

Got The Honda To Do A Round Great Britain Trip For
Got the Honda to do a round Great Britain trip for Cancer Research UK. What a bike. On the long motorway trips it ate up the mileage and gave me 72mpg. Wish it would give the same on a day to day going to work trip. Only get 32mpg for that.
Anyway it never missed a beat and easily pulled me, three loaded panniers and a back seat with a tent etc strapped on around.
Very easy to work on. Pannels come off and on with no fuss. If you go to buy one look out for rotten Exhaust systems and also the top of the reat swing arm. Get those two bits ok and you'll have a grewat touring bike that does what its meant to do.

Honda St1100 47,000 Bike Is Not To Bad Engine Is V
Honda st1100 47,000 Bike is not to bad engine is very good. BUT the clutch is sticking £400 the brakes need a complete strip and service £208 as they are siezed. The swing arm is rotten ebay £35 and the frame is quiet rusty. The handle barr cover screws have rotted into the ally. Wheels are pitted re coated £80. Before this bike i owned a Triumph Trophy 900 same year it was mint and in my opinion a better bike but did have very poor economy. But never striped the brakes or done the wheels and the swing arm never went rotten. Owned for 6 years never had any trouble and cheaper than a pan. Do not under estiamate Triumph. Tony

I Have Owned My 2000 Non Abs Pan St1100 For About
I have owned my 2000 non ABS pan ST1100 for about a month now having moved up from a Deauville. I only passed my bike test in May so I am still a relatively inexperienced rider. I am still intimidated by the pan's huge weight but only when getting it in and out of the garage. Once out on the road it totally transforms into a different bike. It can be trickled around bends and mini roundabouts at rediculously slow speeds in 1st or second gears. My confidence is building day by day. Honda has built a fantastic machine that you can put your trust in be it commuting to work or crossing continents. Solid reliability, turbine smooth performance (and lots of it) and the nimble handling is a surprise for such a big motorbike. The first time I rode it I wasn't so sure we would be together for very long. By the end of the ride I didn't want to get off. Sports bikes? Forget it I love my Pan!

I Bought My 2001 Abs/tcs/cbs St1100 A Couple Of Ye
I bought my 2001 ABS/TCS/CBS ST1100 a couple of years ago - it spent its life as a police covert traffic motorcycle, and as you would expect has been serviced correctly, and has been run 8+ hours per day, everyday. This fact would normally concern me, but not with this bike......All the emergency services across the world have used this bike for the best part of a decade, and some still do, even though it was discontinued by Honda back in 2002.... That ' s says a lot.
The ST1100's engine is supreme, and is as smooth as velvet... no vibrations even at 100mph+, and no jerking or diving when you roll off the throttle.... you can get power form more or less any gear at any speed.... and the bike has so much torque into the bargain. The bike has 4000 mile oil / filters service intervals, which is fine... as the bikes been built with easy access in mind, and has access panels, and easily removal fairings for nearly every part - so you can DIY.
I have found the standard windscreen to be the only problem, as it directs the air stream directly into your visor, and from 80 mph onwards the wind noise is excessive and the wind buffeting unbearable.... I added a +4" in height screen, which has a slightly wider setup also, and problem solved ( £70)......
I've traveled through France with a friend recently, and covered 700 miles in a day..... My friend was riding a VFR, and at the end said it was too much, due to aches and pains.... I could have done the same again.... the ST1100 is like a 100 mph + arm chair, and will give any of your modern day sports bikes a run for their money, around twisties, due to its low centre of balance and smooth power delivery... all whilst in total comfort.
I can't rate this bike highly enough, and I compare this to other bikes I ' ve own like a ZZR and Varadero.... both great bikes in their own rights, but not a patch on the ST1100.
I've also ridden the ST1300 model, and indeed it is a great bike, but I ' m still drawn to the ST1100, for its simplistic greatness and old school carbed heritage.
A truly great bike.
http://www.st1300-accessories.co.uk/st1100_windscreens.html .........I bought the screen from the link shown. Quick delivery, and a good quality product......hingysaid
Could you let us know what screen you bought please as I am in the same position with a standard height screen and facing a wide choice of replacements.

I Have Tried Honda Goldwings Before And They Seem
I have tried Honda Goldwings before and they seem a bit big and heavy for my use. I love the look and feel of the Honda ST1100. It is light and very responsive for a touring bike.
