Comes Up Short
The Luggie scooter in principle is great rides well battery lasts well and
reasonably comfortable.
Had for over a year now so my experience is well tried.
The problem with this scooter is the lack of thought for the person who has
to use it. By nature most usesrs will be less fit and active as normal.
Removal of the battery is for me impossible the button to push is very stiff
and it requires a screwdriver to prise it out. If the battery was shaped with a grip or handle this would help.
Unfolding is not easy and requires considerable strength whilst folding needs care not to catch your fingers.
If you are thinking of buying one make sure you can carry out the folding and lifting prior purchase.
The promotional video say it all with a a large six foot man shown carrying out the various functions.

Delighted With The Luggie Scooter!
I’ve put the conclusion first for those who don’t want to read a lot. Mobility equipment has to be easy for the sick or disabled person and their carers to use. It has to be convenient and reliable, not extra exhausting hassle. In scooters as in cars, you don’t expect a Mini to do the job of a Jeep. They are designed for different uses and both have their merits. The Luggie won’t take a weekly grocery shop home up a steep hill, but as a travel scooter, it is second to none.
The Luggie Elite was bought to replace a Pride Revo 4, which was so heavy to disassemble and put in a car boot that it wasn’t used very much. In two months I have used the Luggie Elite more than the Revo had been used in 9 years. The Luggie Elite is more comfortable than the Revo and performs better, particularly on hills. The build quality is superb and the metals used are top quality, although the plastics on the tiller seem a little cheap.
The Luggie is so portable. It has been on several train journeys, a few buses, taxis and ferries, as well as private cars. It is so easy to include it in everyday life, and this has had a good effect on relationships with family and friends. You don’t have to have strong men at hand to help you get it out of the car and put all the heavy pieces together and then do it all again in reverse. I have just been on holiday with a group of friends who used to get impatient with the time needed for assembling/disassembling, especially if it had to be done at several places on one day. They were very impressed with the convenience of the Luggie, and one of them is a GP. The Luggie makes life easy for everyone.
It can be used indoors, even in homes that do not have specially widened doorways. Being so portable, it is great for hospital appointments, which are usually along very long passageways and quite a distance from the car park or bus stop.
You don’t need a special hoist to get the Luggie in and out of a car, and that’s great because your family and friends are unlikely to have such a hoist in their vehicles. (Hoists would be needed for other brands of mini scooters as they don't have the flexible folding choices the Luggie has. Rented cars and taxis don't have hoists, and you are unlikely only ever to travel in your own car.)
By all means check out the competition, and I’d bet pounds to pennies that you’ll choose the Luggie and be delighted with it.
Things to bear in mind: I have a large 3 wheeled scooter for everyday use, plus I had the Revo and I have used various other scooters from Shopmobility from time to time. The Luggie does not ‘handle’ like other scooters do, so I strongly urge new Luggie owners to take time to get to know their machine before taking it to unfamiliar places. It is a fabulous machine, but it is different, and there will be a learning curve.
It is probably not the best piece of equipment to choose if you cannot walk at all. At times I have had to put my feet on the ground to ease the Luggie up a small kerb or to balance when I have approached a change of terrain from the wrong angle.
You have to be fairly fit to use a Luggie successfully. My ability is about 40% of what it was before I was ill and I cope well with the Luggie now. But when my ability was only 5% of what it had been, the Luggie would not have been the best choice in terms of support and suspension.
Having said all that, I can say sincerely that the Luggie was an excellent buy, and has opened up new possibilities for me and my family. The Luggie can go places other scooters can’t and as it is so ‘luggable’ it gets used very frequently. My partner and I firmly feel that the Luggie has been a marvellous investment and we look forward to lots of fun with it for years to come.

Happy Times
Happy Times What an amazing piece of kit the Luggie is. My husband and I have traveled to many countries in the two and a half years we have had this wonderful machine. We cannot thank you enough for giving him his freedom and independence back. We have been asked on many occasions where this can be purchased and my husband has willingly offered others many test drives. We are once again able to explore the world and live life to the full.
Mileage !!!!!!!!!!
We bought the luggie scooter as it folded small and did 12 miles because of its lithium battery. Now I don't know about you but £2000 is not cheap, so when I found out that the scooter is only doing a range between 5 to 5.5 miles I was really upset especially after the sales man banged on about doing 12 miles. I returned the scooter to be told on their machine ( no evidence of this just written on a job sheet ) it did 9 miles!!!!!!!! I find this very hard to believe and the company is refusing to do anything else. I'm wanting to let people know this and find, out if anybody else has had problems
happy to talk to any department or company that can expose them for what they are. have contacted BHTA who have taken the complaint over awaiting outcome
was informed when purchasing a lggie super that it would be suitable for use on a caravan site, stated this ground is often uneven and gravelly, still told it would be fine. It is not wheels scuffed against gravel scooter become unstable. in dispute with company now. like talking to a parrot, just keep referring you to read the manual and it will be fine. Customer service is useless
Why would they refuse for that to happen if they had something to hide? Surely such testing takes place on a certified testing machine...bit like an MOT machine i imagine? I would just go to the place without warning and ask for a tour but thats just cheeky me :)
Thank you for your response, I knew I couldn't be the only one with this complaint, or they would have replaced the battery or gave me a new scooter. I want as many people to get in touch then I will get in touch with the BBC and expose this company as they are taking advantage of disabled people and are not willing to put it right. I have wrote to the company and asked if I could bring it back in and see the test been done but they have refused. I know my luggie is only doing 5 miles at the most as it ran out on me the other week after been fully charged. Thank you again for getting in touch Diane
I too have had a luggie in the past around 2 years ago. I got the same very little mileage time after time charge after charge, I charged it everytime I used it but was told it might die if not charged ( which I did religiously ).
Maybe contact watchdog see if they will look into testing it??
if yours is only doing 9 why was you told 12? What machine do they use to test these things?
I would ask and see, I sold my luggie (albeit at a loss) but travel on the comfier Minimo, similar the range is truer.
Hope it works out
Great Luggie Scooter - Poor Customer Service
We bought my Luggie scooter one year ago and fell in love with it. After about one month a screw fell out which impacted the steering and the a little while later something in the tiller bar would come forward without me lifting the lever to bring it forward.
We contacted the company and the sent us screws, however they did not fit. They told us to go to a hardware store, however, we even went to a speciality store but were unsuccessful.
We did not get any cooperation about the tiller bar and had to call the BBB to have them work with us. They want us to ship it to them and it would be at least 2 weeks for them to fix it. I use the scooter and what am I to do in the meantime? They do not provide a loaner.
We suggested they send the replacement part and we would have it fixed here. They told us they had a video on how to fix it. After a few months of emailing they finally sent the part they think is broken. No screws came with the part and instruction were not included. Really? Seriously?
It is the perfect scooter for me. It keeps me mobile inside and out. It looks like another email to the BBB is in our future.

My luggie won't fold. What should I do?
