Aprillia Atlantic 500

I had the Aprillia after trading another smaller scooter. The good points are comfort and power. The speed this scooter can cruise at is incredible. It also gives a chopper like feel as it is stress free and relaxing. However the bad points are that it is not brilliant in the wet, it is very heavy which makes moving it around a pain, it is quite tall which is a problem for shorties like me and then the worst part.... the electrics are really unreliable. Parts are expensive and I have no confidence in this bike electrically. After 3 months I have given up and I will go back to the brand that I find the most reliable. Honda. What use is a speed machine if you are never shure that it will be working? This is despite regular servicing and gentle treatment. The engine is wonderful but I would never buy another Aprillia.

I found this review very helpful because...just bought a used 2004 Ducati Aprilla Atlantic. After downloading & taking on first short ride, the low fuel light was on & analog fuel gage (needle) showed needed gas. After filling w/premium, light extinguished, but needle still pegged/stuck in the 'red'. Is there some 'float' or something I can do? I can't find any Owner's Manual or Service information ANYWHERE!!! Original owner doesn't have either... can't do ANY maintenance on my own scooter??? Thanks for confirming my frustrating search efforts for maintenance info - love the scooter, but not looking forward to 4-hr road trips to have any service done.

I Bought This Scooter To Get Around Town And Ridin

I bought this scooter to get around town and riding the roads. I did research and looking up info. But when I rode it and get use to it's playful nature. I was blessed by the Scooter Goddess herself! This is the most fun I have had on two wheels since I use to put cards in my bicycle spokes! Great on gas. Always starts strong. Rides great since I got new tires. 65-75 mpg. Endless power and takeoff without loosing traction. I just want others to know of the sweet maxi-scooter that the Aprilia Atlantic 500 is a wonderful piece of scooter art! This is worth looking for! Take care everyone...and keep riding all you can! ;-)

Bought My Aprilia Atlantic 500 With Only 1200 Mile

Bought my Aprilia Atlantic 500 with only 1200 miles on the clock. Nice bike while it is working. However fixing it is dam expensive. Be ready to be shocked. Parts are not redily available and take forever to get compared with the ease of japanese parts. Electrics are a nightmare and will let you down ultimately. Better to buy a mainstream jap scooter which will give less headaches.

It Looks Good, Cruises Great. 2004 Needs The Manuf

It looks good, cruises great. 2004 needs the manufacturer to fix the gas venting problem. I think it is a perfect bike once everything is fixed.

Engine has plenty of power. Feels very safe in all road and weather conditions. I would buy another Atlantic 500 with confidence.

Its Too Heavy, Unreliable And Not Particulary Comf

Its too heavy, unreliable and not particulary comfortable for a pillion passenger. My wife hated it. Fule consuption and performance no where near as good as my slightly smaller engined Burgman 400 K4 - but the burgamn is lightly and faf far more pleasant to use - plus the reliability of Japanese machines.

I have said it all in the bad points really - I would like to try the Nexus with the same (overal Master engine - but I wasnt impressed with the X9 500!

i bought a new 2007 burgman and recently bought 2003 aprillia i still own both.i put 8 muffler gaskets in 2 yrs in the burg. aprillia is so much smoother ride that i cant believe it.it gets 57 mpg burg gets 58mpg. my aprillia is a 500 atlantic. hands down atlantic wins this one.it has 19000 miles on it burg has 17600.both motors are strong.burg has orginal battery just replaced aprillias last week.im tall so the aprillia floorboards fit like a glove where the burgs floorboard is much higher for a smaller person.
