Great Touring And Everyday Scooter !!!

I bought a Piaggio X8 400ie 4 months ago ! Mine is a 10/2007 model at a very good condition ! I mostly use it for everyday commuting, going to work, to the beach etc...This means I ride about 15 miles evryday. However I went for a 100 mile trip twice without any problems at all ! In fact I really enjoyed it !

Perhaps this scooters nature is touring ...! Shopping is easy too with the space under the seat. 5 and more bags...Makes your wife happy!!!

GOOD POINTS >> Great engine full of torque and power. Great braking without causing any troubles. Very comfortable seat. Good fuel consumption. Looks great and build quality above average !

BAD POINTS >> Short windshield. Not great instruments panel. A little slow acceleration up to 30 mph.

In general I am very happy with my Piaggio X8 400ie and would reccomend it to people who want an all around scooter for everyday use, but trully capable of long distance comfortable trips without safety issues !!!

I Think The Piaggio X8's In General Are Underrated

I think the Piaggio X8's in general are underrated scooters. I certainly didn't really think much of them before I test rode the X8 400ie. However the test ride totally changed my opinion. The X8 is an excellent scooter and the 400 is probably the best of the bunch with it's torquey fuel injected, Euro 3 compliant engine. It's powerful and has the power just where you need it for overtaking. A slight hesitation at lower revs when pulling away is the only criticism I have of the engine, but this is probably more a transmission/gearing thing. The engine is smooth and leads to a nice ride quality.

The X8 falls somewhere between the more touring X9 and the sporty Nexus in handling. It's taut, and surprisingly flickable for such a lardy looking scooter. On the move the weight and size disappears and it is a good fun ride, with good grip and can handle being pushed quite well.

The X8 400 is a good touring machine, it's comfortable. I rode 300 miles on my second day of ownership and enjoyed every single minute of it.

The build quality is good, the panel fit appears excellent on my 2 year old machine. The only criticism here is Piaggio's use of cheap black screws which will rust if not looked after. There are a few rusty ones under the footwell rubbers on mine where it's damp, and on the water pump but the rest appear fine so far.

I am extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend the X8 400ie.

The new XEvo models are really very similar to the older X8's with only a few styling tweaks and a different dashboard arrangement separating them. I would expect the XEvo models to be every bit as good as the X8.

I have now owned this scooter for about a year and a half and am still just as impressed with it as I was 3 months in.

The scooter is now up to nearly 29,000km or 18,000 miles and has been very reliable. Since the last review I have replaced the battery and also the HT cap, but that's all it's needed.

It's still looking good (when i can be bothered to clean it) and riding just as well as it was when I got it.

Wholeheartedly recommended, an underrated star.

The Piaggio X8 Is A Good All Rounder, For Commutin

The Piaggio X8 is a good all rounder, for commuting, shopping or distances, easy to live with.

Its not a complicated scoot to service after the warranty period, it is possible to do a lot of jobs yourself, belt changes, oil. pads, valve gaps etc.

The bigger new 'Master' engines on the X8, Xevo and Fuoco have an advanced closed loop fuel induction system that eradicates the fuel in the oil problem of earlier engines used on the Gilera 460cc machines, and is used on the Peugeot Satelis as well.

I like the stainless exhaust system as well, should last the life of the machine.

I changed the screen for a Givvi, although this was too tall, I had to cut it down to my own requirements.

Easy bike to live with, would recommend.
