X9 500sl 2002

Unfortunetly i bought this bike before reading any reviews or forums .

I took the bike second hand and it had 39000 km on the dash and guess what after the first heavy rain the digi dash got damp i had to dissaseble it put silicone over the buttons .

The second problem is that you cannot make any adjustments only just with the diagnostic tool and in my country there is no dealer around so the bike started to misfire and engine stop on red lights i tried to clean the throttle body cause of carbon deosits but no luck it still misfires even on idle speed . Battery is a pain to get to it .

Overall it has nice handling it goes very well but i really regret that i bought it is very cheaply made , i don not recommend to anybody cause u cant enjoy the ridig bacause of the many problems the bike got !

bought second hand with 7000 miles showing ,now at 18000 after 1 year .65mpg all the time , travel at 100 plus mph all the time ( coppers laugh when you shoot past ). have nipped under sports bikes on round abouts , regularly drag the centre stand in the fast corners , and wear the tyres all the way to the edge . ( am using michelin city grip . 60 quid rear , 55 quid front , lasting very well ). did have problem with rectifier/regulator ( can be expensive from piaggio but found one on line 35 quid , new in original piaggio packaging ). starts first time every time , go's like stink , comfy and dry . but i really hate it , its ugly ugly ugly . but if you ride it like a 14 year old joy rider and give it death every where its great fun . my mate rides a honda x11 ( detuned hyabusa 1137cc ) and i regularly beat him down the slip road and out to lane 3 at 110 mph . best speed achieved 112 mph . shshshshshsh . very very good at rubbing people up the wrong way ........

what do you have to say about people talking about the x9 250 evo faster than x9 500 because my 500 has very good 0-20 and keeps pulling up to 75mph very well

had a 2004 Aprilia Atlantic 500, Hated every thing about it, Getting parts was a nite mare, Changing oil and filter was a pain, Had to order the oil filter after seeing how much of a issue to do this simple thing it got a new home , Traded it on a 2008 Burgman 400 and I love it,

Getting the Aprilia to 100 MPH never seen it it, 80-90 mph was tops , The Givi tall windscreen when it was windy was hard to keep on the road, The buger is my choice,

Piaggiox9 Is A Extra Confort Scooter, also Strong And Tuff

1.iam a x9 500 users x9 500 is a very easy handling scooter, smooth going and can reach 178km/h in hingway, i always ride it for 1000km/week and maintain speed for about 160 km/h.

2.something i don't like about my x9500 is the oil filter location. It's not suitble for bumping road (my model is year 2003)its always leaking deu to double stand knocking. But for 2004's model the double stand had been modified... leaking problem solve.

3. speedo sensor coil for 2004's dificult to find. But already found the solution.... for those who use x9 500 evo you can searh at mounster 750 speedo sensor coil..

Piaggio X9 500 Evolution

PIAGGIO X9 500 EVOLUTION PURCHASED LAST YEAR FOR £950 THIS IS THE ONLY BIKE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED THAT HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN AND ONLY NEEDING TO BE PUT IN THE GARAGE FOR MAINTENANCE.I ONLY BOUGHT IT AS MY RANGE ROVER SPORT WOULDNT FIT IN THE GARAGE,SO I USE THE BIKE TO GET TO MY CAR OR TO GO TO THE SHOPS DEPENDS WHETHER OR NOT I NEED THE BEAST. THE X9 IS FAST YET SUBTLE,STILL HAVENT BEEN PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE,UNUSUAL FOR ME!!

IT HASN'T BROKE DOWN ON ME ONCE,USES VERY LITTLE OIL/PETROL IF YOU DRIVE IT SENSIBLY.LOL.THE ONLY EXPENSE PAID ON THIS SCOOTER IS BRAKES AND TYRES,WHICH ARE CHEAP AND IF YOU SERVICE THE SCOOTER WHEN YOU SHOULD DO, YOU WILL SAVE MONEY.LOOK AT ALL THOSE BAD REVIEWS,MOST OF THEM ARE FROM THE PRE-EVOLUTION MODELS.

I HAVE NEVER USED THE ELECTRIC STAND AS IVE BEEN TOLD IT WASTES BATTERY,THESE BIKES ARE 4 STROKE AND DONT HAVE A KICK START, A BATTERY IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT YOUR BIKE TO START!!THIS IS WHY I BOUGHT A HEAVY DUTY BATTERY WHICH I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WITH THIS BIKE.IT STARTS FIRST TIME EVERY TIME WITHIN 3 SECONDS.I USE THE SIDE STAND AS IT HAS BUILT IN IMMOBILISER AND OBVIOUSLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE A SIDE STAND YOU WONT HAVE A PROBLEM.(IF YOU DONT KNOW READ CAREFULLY)ALWAYS REVERSE THE BIKE TOWARDS THE KERB AND MAKE SURE THE BACK WHEEL IS RESTING ON THE KERB,MAKE SURE THE STEERING LOCK IS ON THAT THE BIKE IS LEANING TOWARDS THE SIDE THAT THE STAND IS ON.IF IT IS ON A HILL LEAVE IT AT A 10 O CLOCK POSITION OTHERWISE WITH BAD WIND OR A BAD DRIVER YOU WILL FIND YOUR BIKE ON ITS SIDE LEAKING OIL/PETROL AND BADLY DAMAGED.

OTHER THAN THAT A SPOT ON BIKE,KEEP IT GARAGED OR COVERED DUE TO APPARENT ELECTRICAL FAULTS IVE HEARD OF BUT NEVER EXPERIENCED. IF YOU LOOK AFTER IT,IT WILL LOOK AFTER YOU.OVERALL A FANTASTIC BIKE I MIGHT KEEP FOR EVER(STILL ONLY DONE 12000 MILES) HEARD OF THESE BIKES GOING TO 50,000 MILES

Well, I Have Had My 52 Plate X9 - 500 For 18 Month

Well, I have had my 52 plate X9 - 500 for 18 months now, paid £1295 from a dealer. Apart form brake pads and tyres, I have not had to spend any other money on it. It lives outside and has NEVER let me down. Starts on the button first time, and it lovely to ride. Used for commuting through heavy traffic and is a joy when negotiating traffic. Longer high speed rides are a little more uncomfortable - could probs do with a flip screen,as I am quite tall - have looked on the web but am struggling to find one.Centre Stand has an intemittent fault - but rarely need to use it so have not bothered to put right. All in all - very enjoyable, cheap transport that can make a few heads turn as I fly away from the lights - will hang on to it!!

Get a Laminar Lip as an add on to your windscreen. works very well to eliminate buffeting and wind fatigue

My Second X9. I Have A Bmw Gs1200 A Klx 250 Kawasa

My second X9. I have a BMW GS1200 a KLX 250 Kawasaki and a 600 Fazer in the garage. The X9 is my bike of choice for shortish trips into town and beyond. I love the torque and the smooth power delivery as well as the weather protection and storage. OK the handling has to be got used to, but in the real world it's fine. No problems with reliability and as a second "Bike" for practical fuss-free riding it's spot on.

This Is My 4th Review Of The Piaggio X9 500. I No

This is my 4th review of the Piaggio X9 500. I now have 47,000 miles on this scooter. The engine is a work horse. I use it every day year round taking me to work and back home again.

Things I like...

The Engine and Transmissions are great. Does not use any oil, steadily get 62 mpg, accelerates nicely, and is very smooth. handles great even over 80 mph, have done 109 mph in it and does not complain.

Things I do not like... Piaggio service is awful, expensive and slow to get parts. Eats brakes. Seating position can be awkward and the handling could be slightly better, leaning into sharp turns really can make your knuckles turn white.

If you really want a maxi scooter, then this is the one you want.

No problems. Steady on highway up to 130km.

Great reliability. Bad news and i think its one of paggios biggest errors, stopping production of this great machine!

I Have Had My Piaggio X9 500 For About 6 Years, A

I have had my Piaggio X9 500 for about 6 years, and even though I love the ride I find it unreliable and cheaply made ... very much so.Have used it in the UK, Spain, France, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy... and have about 50,000 miles on it. Since I am retired, I ride on excursions in the UK continental trips for about 5-8 months of the year.I have had to use tow trucks to the extent that I ran out of the 5 Carole Nash allows in one year and then, of course, had to pay for non-insured support! There is no doubt that the next bike will be not be a Piaggio and will be either Yamaha TMax or Kymco Xciting 500

The Piaggio X9 500 Is Not Bad For A Compact 500cc

The Piaggio X9 500 is not bad for a compact 500cc scoot. Accelleration quite good, storage ok but others are better, 70mph seems a good cruiding speed for this scoot in terms of fuel usage and steadiness. If you have been used to larger cc/motorcycles you will probably not like this machine as it does not handle anywhere near as good.
