I Am Now On My 6th Scooter Having Had 2 Px's A 150
I am now on my 6th scooter having had 2 PX's a 150 and a 200 and several autos including the fantastic GT200. However i am now back on a 2001 Vespa model PX200. As much as i liked the GT for its reliability, comfort etc every time i went to rallies i just could not get away from the'Honda Melody'' stigma and as such have gone back to the classic noisy old but lovely looking 2 stroke which is the one people stop and look at.

Reliable Bike, Easily Tuned (i Have A Polini 207 A
Reliable bike, easily tuned (I have a Polini 207 and JL exhaust) also very simple to work on should anything go wrong.
The PX200 is an excellent bike and rides well (far better than my previously owned lambrettas SX200 and SX150 )with good performance and reliability.

I Had 8 Vespas Or So Over The Past 15 Years, Vespa
I had 8 vespas or so over the past 15 years, Vespa PX 200 is one of my favourite models. It can be very easily tuned up, just get a 213 CCM Malossi kit, racing exhaust and a bigger carb jet and you are in business, for less than 400 bucks!

Having Only Covered 260km's I Am More Than Happy W
Having only covered 260km's I am more than happy with my Piaggio Vespa PX200 Scooter. I decided to get back on a vespa again having owned a PX50 about 10 years ago. It was a mid 80' model with all the style but none of the finesse the current bike has. The new model now sports electric start as well as a convential kick start. It has front disc brakes as opposed to a front drum. The oil mixes with the fuel automatically, I now have two helmet hanging clips under the front of my seat as well as a handy shopping bag clip. There is no 'Neutral' gear selection light which I feel is a shame. But in place of that it now has a low fuel warning light. The only other small thing that annoys me is the hastily choosen medium for the 'PX200' badge on the bike. Simply should have been cast aluminium, and not a squishy sticker.
The 200cc two stroke motor is still only being run in but already looks promising for out running those little 'V' Moto things!
The bike accelerates well, through the good old clunky left twist gear shift. I feel it could have done with a longer first gear however. Crusing speeds of 75 - 85kph are very comfortable. Whilst freeway speeds can be obtained much above 100kph is a struggle and uncomfortable, especially without a wind break.
An allround great scooter with a few niggles as mentioned above. But so good looking they are forgotten in an instant. I cannot wait for the summer and meeting up with other Vespa users. Go and buy one, of course black is the only sensible colour.
Now my PX200 is 12 months old and 5000km's on it. The engine is now just about run in which is characterised in more torque. A second gear hill will now take 3rd gear no problems. The only problem I have had is the LH side cover locating tab at the top (welded to the bike body) has snapped off. I recommend rotating tyres every 1000km and check tyre pressures - makes a lot of difference to tyre wear - the back tyre wears quickly if you do not rotate. The scoot has been excellent - a lot of fun and character - seat really to short for all but a very small pillion passenger.
I have just purchased a new PX200 in white colour (for visability) and rode it home last night. This is the first PX I have ridden. Yes first gear is a little short, but the overall gearing is well matched to the engine with 4th almost being an overdrive. Finish is very good and torque is surprising on steep hills. I am told by the Dealer that they need at least 5000k's under them to loosen up the engine.
The Dealer also said avoid putting premium unleaded in them (use standard unleaded).
This scoot is a classic and still has good enough performance to fulfill a variety of roles, but not on a 110km limit freeway.
I own a new Px125 (750km right now) and agree with a lot you say, first gear indeed should have been a little longer.
I love this scooter, it's most comfortable at 70-80 km/h, from 90 km/h on it gets a little wobbly (official top speed is 87km/h, but I got it up to 98 km/h)
Black is the color (with that beautiful caramel seat)
Well now upto 4500km's in almost 9 months! I spent alot of my summer renovating our house whilst my lovely wife paid the bills. SO I had a lot of time I could nip off down the coast and to our local beach Cottesloe. This really what it is all about, I could use freeways or take the back roads. The latter preffered. I have had NO problems with the bike - but have added for extra comfort for passenger a padded rear back rest/rack. Superb and highly recommended. My passengers now don't hold around my waist but sit back in complete safety resting on the back support.
Few facts.
top speed (indicated) 120kmh - 0 wind level road.
best crusing speed - 85-90 kmh
top speed into wind up slight incline - 95-100kmh
best gear - 3rd!
Kph/100 LOTS
Best bits about owning.
Attention you get from people when you park up somewhere.
Ease of parking.
Sundays - If the weather is good this is the day I remove the cover and drive it out of the garage - driving striaght up into the Swan valley and to the nearest vine yard!
Will add more later.
