Lil B Jog R 2002

I bought the scooter at the end of last year from a popular auction site from a local seller. I rode the bike home with no problems it kick started first time, and has done every time since. The electric start still doesn't work, I have replaced everything apart from the wiring. The bike is quite small I am over 6ft but my wife is only 5ft so we needed something we could both ride. I have a full motorcycle license but she can only legally ride the bike in its 50cc guise. I was a little disappointed with the performance (40mph flat out) both exceleration and top speed. My other bike is a Firestorm VTR 1000 but it was only a 50cc. I found insurance to be on the high side the first quote was for more than I pay for my other bike and I am just over 50. I bought the scooter to go on the back of my motorhome whilst touring Europe. However, I cant keep anything standard for long even the motorhome is chipped and has upgraded suspension. I upgraded the shock on the bike as I am carrying a bit more weight in my old age and the bike will be mostly used two up I have also fitted a rack for a top box. The uprated shock is slightly longer than standard which has sharpened up the steering and greatly improved the road holding from the 11 year old standard one. I have also fitted a 70cc big bore kit (iron barrel) to get a little more performance. It can now keep up in the traffic. I also changed the variator and reduced the weight of the rollers to get a little more acceleration. This action didn't change the top speed just the way it got there. I have also carried out a thorough service when I found the transmission had three times the amount of oil in it than it should (110cc). I have found the brakes about adequate, to cope with the power upgrade I have fitted new performance pads and shoes. I also replaced the rear brake cable which was too stiff and acted more like a switch. Overall I have found parts prices very reasonable however, every part has been replaced by an upgraded product. I have found the bike very easy to work on and would be a great way to learn about mechanics. I would recommend the Yamaha to anyone old or young.

Not A Good Ped

I have had my jog for just over a year now (brought brand new) i was pleased with it for about three months then the Battery failed the speedo stopped working the rollers wore out and needed replacing it no longer pulls away fast and is in the garage again today as its broken down.

Considering its only 14 months old its not a good ped.

I think the Yamaha Dealer was annoyed when i asked if he would swap or Part exchange it for a peugeot speedfight coz they look better and go faster.

Dont Buy one.

Best 50cc By Far

i brought my yamaha jog r aircooled off by brother who had it for 2 years and he had no problems with it at all and now i have brought it and ive been riding it for about 6 months now and i love it the ride is so smooth and just a prefect little bike. great for throwing into the corners but as they say its "yamaha" haha. i have only had the folowing; technigas exhaust, new rollers, partly desrestricted and the carb upjetted i can easily get 50 and pushing it at 53mph. everyone says that at 53mph its gonna blow up but it really doesnt sound like it, it sounds like its going 30 because the engine isnt straining. the bike is litterally perfect i love it so much it handles like a dream and beats most of the geared bikes that i now. you should buy one they are perfect plyus its yamaha. one problem because ive had the carbs upjetted it drinks the fuel.

I Brought My Jog R For Around £600 I Thought

i brought my jog r for around £600 i thought it was a brilliant bike i got atleast 75kmph on the flat with out any problems and i wieght about 15 and a half stone the down hill i got it off the clock to about 86kmph and still could of got more out of it on a longer hill would definalty advise to buy a levince tt exuaghst as it did help quite a bit, i only had one or two problems 1 is that i had to replace both of the brake light activators so the electric start did work with out the brake light on and had to buy a new exaughst as it had a majorly bad split in it witch cuased it to slow down a bit and made it deafening to listen too over all a AMAZING BIKE :)

This Was My First Ever Little Moped And I Loved It

This was my first ever little moped and i loved it....The only problem i had with it was about 20 flat tyres and i smashed it up when i crashed into a wall lol.....other than that a perfect little run around I used to travel about 200 miles a week and I even moved house on the thing :o)

I would recommend a jog R to any new rider. cheap to run and insurance.

Why doesn't my speedo work on my Yamaha jog? How can I fix this?

mark670

I have a Yamaha Jog, it starts well but can't run.and there is no rpm when you pull the throttle. I replaced new carbs, new spark plug, new ignition coil, and new belt, but it's still the same. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
