FVS are one of the cheapest hosting companies out there, and if you want to get your website online for a low cost they're a fine option. I do find they suffer random downtimes, sometimes for several hours at a time, where my website will go offline. I know this isn't just to do with my site, however, as their own site will also go offline at the same time.

OK, fair enough, companies do suffer downtime occasionally, but there is never any response when I ask via their Twitter account whether there's any update on when i can expect service to return, or even any acknowledgement afterwards that there was an issue. Since their own site is down at the same time, I obviously can't check there for a status update.

That, I'm sad to say, means I couldn't recommend them at all to a client or to a friend. If the site is going to go down, people really need to be able to find out what's going on.

Way back in 1999 I bought my first domain name, and from this built on my portfolio of domains for both my own businesses and community sites.

By 2007 I had enough of that first host, making mistakes and not keeping up with my needs. So that is where I found out about Free Virtual Servers, and I have never looked back.

For those of you who have yet to buy a domain, for business or for community based projects, or are not happy with thier current host, I could not reccomend FVS any higher.

Over the years my own skills, since becoming involved in computers in the early eighties, I built simple sites, yet when ever there was a problem I encountered, FVS staff would always come to my aid, and way above the service you would dream of expecting.

Being encouraged to use Wordpress, the installation seemed to work fine until I wanted to move it from a test sub folder to its root folder. MySQL database issues stalled my progress and asking for support on a Sunday, FVS started work on the same day and although a few times it was suggested to go to my developer (that I didnt have), by 1pm the Monday all was well, with my new Wordpress web pages and blog all up and running from the root of my domain.

I am a real novice when it comes to anything technical or web related, so I chose Free Virtual Servers because they are a UK based company and had been recommended to me. I registered my new web domain using their Starter Plus package. I needed to set up a couple of email addresses straight away, and was amazed when I managed to do that myself really easily, just by following their tutorial.

So far, so good.... My problems only started when I tried to configure my new email accounts in my Mac Mail program using IMAP...

This is when the after sales service of this company was exceptional. I dealt with an adviser on the Technical team (who I have to say, was an absolute Superstar). It took him a couple of hours of trial and error to configure my new email addresses into my Mac Mail.

Apparently this is due to a glitch with the Mac OS, but he was patience personified and after numerous attempts, he finally managed to get my emails up and running, which is something I would have never managed to do myself.

I am so pleased I chose this company. They have a professional, knowledgeable and dedicated UK based Technical Team (which beats speaking to a technician on the other side of the world who you can barely hear or understand).

I simply cannot fault the service I have received and would recommend Free Virtual Servers to anyone... thank you so much!!

Pros: Fast servers, instant setup, free website builder and 24/7 support. Staff member was particularly helpful with solving all of my technical problems.

Cons: Their Free hosting package can be irritating when it comes to setting up a real business website. To save time, try out their Starter Plus Kit instead.

For those who are planning to try out the free hosting package, then here’s my honest review. It was last 2010 when I first stumbled upon these guys. I’m a sucker for cheap stuff so I couldn’t resist trying out their FREE package. Their team was very polite and very helpful, considering I’m trying out a free product. I still received the type of service that VIP customers deserve. The only issue I had was when my website grew, and I couldn’t take the limited space anymore. After talking to them, I upgraded to the premium hosting package. FVS has definitely surpassed my expectations with their fast service. My site had unlimited bandwidth and web space just minutes after I settled my bill.

The team continues to host my websites today. I can definitely say that they have contributed significantly to the success of my businesses. I recommend them to everyone especially small businesses with a limited budget.

I,ve found freevirtual servers a good combination of value and support, the hosting is very affordable. A beginner will need some of their own knowledge, whilst the standard of hosting service also suits users seeking a professional web presence at a reasonable cost.

Certainly there are some scammers on the web, it's just nice to find a company that actually does what it says, helpful info, someone at the end of a phone, moreover it is FVS that made me stay with them:
