Seriously Disappointed

Still waiting for next day delivery 7 days later.

This is the third time I'm attempting a purchase from Wex. The first order online following a call to check stock was followed by an email the next day saying they have no stock and will send out when stock is available.

Due to this being urgent I was directed to the store. After a long trek to their new store across London I was told I can't have the item because it is on hold from the warehouses. Obviously this was my order yet they would not sell it to me. This was an emergency item for a shoot in one hours time. I asked the salesman if they had any other product to light a portrait shoot. I was told no despite there being rows of perfectly suitable lighting. I was amazed at their lack of support. I was told I could rent the item I originally needed and he'd call his manager. The manager asked me for £500 deposit for a £200 item. I said that I don't have that on me which was followed by an incredibly arrogant "most people don't show up trying to rent an item without a deposit." I held my mouth despite me never actually arriving to do this. I was told to go to the wex store to purchase this item!

I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again. I purchased over £2000 pounds worth of equipment for next day delivery. It is now 7 days later and nothing.

This is not the store for professionals who rely on a dependable service. Maybe ok for hobby photographers. Never again.

There call centre staff are tring to be supportive though.

6 Weeks And Counting For A Minor Camera Repair

Hello,

I have phoned Wex several times and phoned Nikon twice to try to find out what is going on. I sent my Nikon D750 to Wex for repair almost six weeks ago and still no sign of it coming back to me. If its not bad enough that it goes wrong just over a year old, I have not heard from them since 19th October when they emailed me to say I had to pay £142 to have it repaired when infact it was under an extended warranty. I feel they should have known about this but instead I had to phone Nikon to have them confirm this and then had to call Wex to tell them.

I have given Wex my loyalty & spent thousands of pounds with them over the years but this experience has left me very dissapointed and with little confidence in your repair service to the extent where if I need a repair or a purchase in the future I will have to think twice about giving Wex my business

Pure Idiocy - A Bunch Of Time Wasters

I bought a tripoid head from this shop. The locking mechanism was faulty. Not their fault, of course. I send it back for a replacement. 4 days later they contact me saying they are ready for a replacement to be sent out, but I forgot to return the head's plate and allen key that came with it. I have to send them back before the can send the replacement.

I politely remind them that they have a plate and allen key in the package of the replacement head they have ready to send out: why don't they take them out, keep them and send the rest?

Absolutely not, is the answer. "You just can't do that". Trying to reason turns out impossible. If I were speaking to a monkey I would have gone much further.

THESE PEOPLE HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO WASTE. If you are someone who doesn't, stay away from them

Bad Customer Service Is An Understatement!

I have been left very frustrated and disappointed by the customer service from Wex. Having bought around £1700 worth of equipment on finance. I was left frustrated initially by the stock status online went from 5 to 7 working days to awaiting stock for my order.

I ordered the items on the 24th of July. After over a week I called to enquire about length of time my order will take and if the items are in stock at their distributors. He could not provide me with any information and would be in touch with a date from distributors. Few days of no response from him, I called again and got a different man. He again provided no date and promised to call or email me an update by 6pm regardless if he has any information or not..surprise no call or email.

The next day around 5.30pm I phoned and got through to an advisor, to whom I expressed my disappointment with the service thus far.

He then informed me that only one item (a filter )

was out of stock from my order, I stated my urgency for the goods and understood that as I paid with finance I would have limited options in cancelling the filter to get the order, so I offered to pay additional money for another filter on top of finance , this simple procedure at first seemed an impossible task however after conferring with colleagues I was greeted by news we could send out a complete order to myself on a next day delivery before 12pm!

Naturally I was ecstatic that he took ownership of my stock issue and had resolved this.

So I book Friday as an admin day for work... and 12pm passes by. Around 2.45 I phone to check status of my delivery to find it had not even been processed. And that it will now be sent out for Saturday between 8 am and 1 pm.

No apology again just another poor excuse about an error from barclays their finance partner.

I would not be surprised if the goods don't even show up tomorrow.

I will actively state to people I know not to buy from Wex based on my customer experience. And nor shall I ever purchase from them again.

Anyone else looking for camera equipment go to calumet,CVP, pro av, .. even jessops or curry's... they would look after their customers better.

Bought Lots From Wex And Never Had Any Problems.

I've used Wex for years to buy my camera gear and items were always delivered quickly and at a good price.

I've also had opportunity to contact customer services many times with questions and a couple of small issues - each time, whether it was via live chat, telephone or email, I've received a quick response which made me feel they were eager to please. Exactly what I want.

I had a faulty camera recently and they exchanged it with no arguments. Sending out a replacement wasn't done immediately as I had been told but I did get it just over a week later.

Wex will continue to be my first port of call for my photography requirements. Highly recommended.

Wex To Jessops

Went through Wex to purchase a second hand lens. Not only was it late to arrive but the wrong lens was sent to me. It took over 3 weeks to get it sorted and when the correct lens did arrive, it was damaged and there was mold in the corners of the optics. Wex refused to refund me so I went to jessops. Not only did they take in the damaged lens for me, they fixed it free of charge and bought it in for £10 more than what Wex had sold it to me for.

I've read many reviews that suggest Wex isn't the greatest of camera shops but after I tried it for myself. I wouldn't ever buy from them again.

Part Exchange Service

Heard mixed reviews about Wex photographics part exchange service but I always try things out for myself. So I exchanged a couple of my lenses and wanted to purchase a new canon lens.

Everything was fine to begin with, my quotation was a good offer and I was told my lenses would be picked up by courier the next working day.

I stayed at home all day waiting and nothing showed up. So I called Wex and they explained that the pick up hadn't been completed properly by one of their staff but that I'd have the lenses collected to following day. My items were collected at 5:30pm. I was informed that I'd receive an email to let me know when they had arrived at Wex. I never reviewed the email. After a week of waiting, I phoned their customer service line asking for any updates on my products and they told me that they'd received the lenses but hadn't even inspected them! 2 weeks later I phoned again in hopes that my items had been looked at. But I was told that they had been sent to their showroom for inspection that day and if I wanted to go into the store I could receive the results. So I did. I got to their store, waited for an hour till someone came to ask me if I was okay, I explained to them the situation and nobody had any idea what I was talking about.

Angry, I contacted the part exchange customer service line and I was informed that they had dropped one of my lenses and that I would be charged for the repair!!! After I refused this and asked for my lenses back, they told me that they had already sold the other lens. I checked my account with them and no credit had been added.

So I was without my lenses, one of which they had sold and the other they had dropped. I had no credit in my Wex account and wasted 3 weeks of my time.

I put in several complaints and was credited HALF the amount I was quoted for my 'good' lens and was given compensation of '£20' for the lens they had dropped (originally they quoted me £130 for)

Very tempted to contact trading standards as this service was appalling!!

Do not recommend to anyone!!!

Awful Service!

Tried to trade in a DSLR of mine, was offered a good price but when it came to the process of the part exchange, it took a month to inspect. I called up several times within the month to find that they had 'misplaced' my item and they're sorry for the wait. Then when they eventually called to confirm a price, they offered me a much lower price and when I declined that offer, the phone was put down on me. Customer service in part exchange is awful!

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND WEX PART EXCHANGE!!

Q&A

Frankwoo

I am considering getting a DSLR camera, having owned/used a Nikon Nikkormat which I bought back in 1975 and a Nikon Coolpix 5000 which I have and am still using, for about 15 years. I have finalized the choice of a Canon 77D body. I am interested in sports photography and always travel with my camera. I would like to try to be more creative and would like to try more landscape, nature and portraiture. Cost naturally is a factor and in order to keep within a budget that I have set myself for the whole kit I am considering which lens to get to be starting with. I have narrowed the choice to two lenses. Firstly, a Canon EF-S 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM which is being retailed at Wex for £514.99. The second lens is the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM coming at £379. In order to get more reach I had considered also getting a Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS II USM telephoto lens. However this last item would push me past my budget so I will have to bide my time until I can save for a later purchase.

Questions:

1. Which of the first two lenses would best meet the needs of the range of my interests?

2. Would the telephoto lens be suitable to provide that extra close-up for more distant subject? I used a 85-205mm with my old antique Nikkormat in the good old days of film cameras. However a little extra reach would be appreciated, in due course.

3. Which memory card and the capacity would you suggest?

4. I have always used polarising filters, partly to keep the lens clean. Should I fit one to the lens? Any other filters to keep on the lens and to help with certain scenes. Thanks.
