I have or at least "had" several domains and hosting plans with UK Web Solutions Direct. Service has been fair over the ten years I have been with them and the tech support equally so. They might not have cracked a problem on the first shout but a response to a followup ticket usually sorted the problem. The wording on a lot of responses "assumed" you had client/server based knowledge as it was quite technical - fine for me but not ideal for those that are not tech savvy.

One of the biggest issues I had was the "limited" bandwidth. It is not very big at all. In fact, it is smaller than most competing hosting providers and my personal website (astronomy/photography) had been throttled back on a number of occasions to the point the pages often failed to load. When I mentioned this they were very quick to offer me (at discount) another server for an extra £20 a month !!!!

The final nail in the coffin was a change in payment methods. I used to pay using debit/credit cards and some recent security change meant I was no longer able to use this method. I raised a ticket and they told me to pay using online banking (which I don't have). They offered me no other method so I had no other option but to leave them. That is what you get for over 10 years of loyalty ;)

From the recent correspondence and lack of direction, I would not touch them with a barge pole. Such a shame !!!

I've had multiple websites with these guys for close on 10 years. Good hosting service, easy to use online account, and best of all is the ultra-responsive support, it's rapid and unprecedented in the industry.

I have been a long term reseller account customer of UKWSD, in the past I have used several other hosting companies, none compare to UKWSD for stability, up time and excellent support when needed.

During my time with UKWSD they have been bought out by another company, I was worried this would ruin the great support and up time - it has not affected it at all, if anything there now appears to be more support staff and all my issues have been dealt with very quickly.

There are cheaper companies, but I have found to my cost you get what you pay for, all hosting companies have occasional issues, server migrations etc, UKWSD get these things dealt with in a professional manner as quickly as possible, when I have used cheaper companies all appears good until you have an issue, that is the point when you discover the cheaper option is far from a good idea!

I highly recommend UKWSD without hesitation.

My company uses several hosting companies, as well as hosting our own servers and there is a reason that UKWSD is on our list. And that is the reliability of their servers and the responsiveness of their support.

There have been issues, as with all our hosting providers, however these have been dealt with in a responsive and efficient manner.

There are slightly more expensive than some hosting companies but in terms of value for money - they are excellent.

I would highly recommend them to any company with professional hosting needs.

Over the years past 10 years we have tried 3 or more of the leading hosting providers (1and1, fasthosts, 123) and whilst some of their packages may be slightly cheaper they are often lacking in one or more areas.

UKWSD have a fantastic cpanel (for backing up, managing email, stats, etc and their response to our support questions is always speedy and helpful.

When we inherit a new client who already has hosting we are often reminded of how good UKWSD are because of the slow response to support tickets, poor knowledge of staff or poor facilities. So we rate UKWSD very highly indeed and always recommend them to clients when they want to buy their own hosting.

We've been with UK Web Solutions for about 5 years, after having trouble with 2 other hosts prior. Their uptime is very good, anything out of the ordinary is dealt with quickly and often with advance warning.

Due to the number of sites we have hosted, occasionally we need help managing and re-organising them, and the staff are always responsive and keen to help. They will also clarify what is happening, so you are kept in the loop.

We are very happy and will continue to use them in future.
