Look Elsewhere, Do Not Trust St Helens Glass!!

Out Windows were done a year ago. The fitters left a mess, which we complained about. The company gave our number to a holiday company who pestered us. Then to top it all they wouldn't fix a loose downstairs window a year later. They say they're now a different company! (Same name, same phone number, and their logo says they've been operating since 1970!) We had to use home insurance to fix the window!! Steer well clear!

Awful

This company is awful - don't waste your time and money.

We had a quote for replacement sofits, facias and guttering and paid a deposit of £200, being told the work would start in 2-4 weeks. After 6 weeks we had still heard absolutely nothing from St Helen's Glass, despite making 5 calls to them. Their customer care is virtually none-existant. When you phone, they just say they don't have any information on their system and will get someone to call you back - they never do call back. Frustratingly they also can't or won't provide contact details for the team who are supposed to call you back, so you have literally no way of getting in touch with anyone who knows anything about the status of your order.

Finally after lodging a complaint today I was phoned back to be told the work had been underquoted and we would have to pay an extra £1600(!) to have the work done. I'm not an idiot so I canceled the order. Apparently my deposit will be returned within 1 week, but based on my previous experience with this company I'm not holding my breath...

So after 6 weeks we are back to square one and £200 lighter. Based on other reviews I've read, this experience isn't at all uncommon for this company. My advise: don't go anywhere near this company if you don't want your time and money wasted.

Worst Ever

After agreeing a price and ordering, had nothing but hassle with this company. Wrong kitchen window fitted, numerous phone calls about colour having told the surveyor who charged £150 the colour. When Windows arrived was told they were tripple glazed,no way. There was 52 different marks on the Windows, the front door strip had a white line down it. The back door panel had moved and showed a light line. The kitchen window should open and swivel. Left me feeling completely stressed.please don't buy from these people.

Awful Company

Salesman visited and we agreed to purchase a door. We were assured that if we changed our mind, there would be NO COST AT ALL. He told us the surveyor would visit at 9 am the following day. No one turned up. When we contacted them the surveyor told us that the salesman didn't have a clue when surveyors visit. Salesman took £149 from us saying it was a refundable deposit. It was an admin fee he hadn't mentioned. He also added a £90 a year service charge and put us on a 10 year payment contract instead of 2. Complaints office was unavailable by phone for 3 hours. We got through by phoning sales department. Complaints officer was completely unsympathetic and said the admin fee was unrefundable and was for any work undertaken...which was zero. £149 was taken out of my bank immediately. Beware of dealing with this company. We have now got an identical door from a reputable company for £550 less!

Stay On Their Case

Installation week commencing 15/8/16 on Merseyside

Initial phone approaches irritating, salesman disarming, knowing the fine details of the installation confusing, installation excellent.

We had the "scrappage" bull over the 'phone and the massive price reductions from the salesman, but the eventual price was competitive with quotes from last year. The surveyor was excellent, pointing out many improvements and alterations that could be made to the existing windows.

The main issue was communication regarding the installation. We were told scaffolding on Monday, installation on Tuesday. We weren't told that the installation would take two days.... We had three missed calls from entu numbers while we were on holiday and one between our return and the installation. No voice mails from any of them. They lose half a star for that.

One of those calls came from entu's Norwich HQ and one of my attempts to call customer services re-directed to the receptionist there: a lovely lady, who was very helpful before transferring me to the scheduling office. When I got through to customer services one of their guys gave his full name and also transferred me through to the scheduling office. So reactively they were very good.

When it came to the installation, the scaffolders arrived 90 minutes after the installers, not on the previous day. They were supposed to erect a platform over our solar panels so that the installers couldn't drop anything onto those valuable assets. They didn't and what they put up didn't even help the installers do the job! Lose another half star. However, they were polite and considerate, paying attention to my requests to ensure the scaffolding bases weren't placed over the broadband cable buried under the lawn.

The installers were great. Really good customer relationship skills and they knew their stuff. The lead installer instantly recognised that the oldest windows being replaced were St Helen's Glass and posed particular problems when removing. They were both willing to explain and address any questions and they tidied up very well. They - along with the surveyor - deserve five stars.

Rip Off Britain

after agreeing a price and signing contract with entu /St Helens I contacted them as they were late in installing my windows I was informed that i would have to pay another £900 considering the full contract was priced for two windows at £1500 pounds I refused to pay the extra. At the time I was promised my deposit and the admin fee of £99.00 back it has taken me two months to get my deposit back I still have not received the admin fee back I paid both by credit card and have entered a dispute through Santander.I dont know how I stand as usually the credit card companies are held responsible for amounts over £100 I am hope my deposit will be taken into account but not sure.my adivce is If you decide to do business with this company do not pay an admin fee but personally i would not choose to do so
