Great Little Machine, Don't Believe The Negativity!

I read so much negative stuff about this before buying that I have to post this after more than a month of use. I'm making beautiful (ie. delicious) espressos and cappuccinos with this and my Ascaso Dream. I use the next to finest setting for a double shot. The finest setting might work for a single shot, not quite sure since I understand it is advisable to make double shots all the time - they just turn out better. I've had no issues with it at all. Yes, sometimes the beans don't flow into the grinder, but a single up and down shake does the trick.

The serious coffee snobs say you have to spend as much on the grinder as on the coffee machine. Well, yes... This depends on your preferences. I like good coffee, but I'm not buying a grinder for over 300 €. I bought this grinder second hand for 15 €. My coffee is better than ever and better than in most cafés. That's good enough for me.

Best Value

Having read a number of negative reviews of this product, I had to provide a balance. A number of reviews suggest that you cannot grind an espresso with this machine and if you try it becomes clogged. This maybe true if you fill the hopper and expect 100gms or more, however if like me you only grind what you need, then there is no problem.

It is quieter than the previous mill I used - Krups 75.

It provides well ground coffee at all 17 settings.

All in all a great product if you consume 2 to 3 cups of coffee per day and use only the amount needed for each cup.

Not Perfect But Pretty Close!

I have had the grinder for a few months and it has been a dream! You have a choice of coarseness and amount which is great, makes such a difference in flavour! It is a bit loud, but I don't suppose there's any surprises there and I had one small issue where I though the fuse had broken but actually I just wasn't cleaning the top bit properly so switches weren't being switched. Otherwise very very chuffed with it!

Things I really like - the options it gives and the accuracy, ease of use.

Things I don't like - needs accurate cleaning, bit noisy.

Worked Perfectly, Straight Out Of The Box.

Brilliant machine, I do not know why I waited so long to buy it. German, made in Germany, therefore perfect construction. Churns out 2 filter pots and one french press full every day, seven days a week. I even use it at work for grinding test cuppings as part of our routine batch control for our coffee roasting facility. When we get round to it we will buy another one for the roaster laboratory they are so good. Poor at grinding for espresso, but that stuff is for hot milk drinkers only. Adults drink filter.

Krups/krap

Looks great...but didnt actually work. I went straight back to shop for a refund. Krups clearly need to get their QC sorted on this one.

Don't Waste Your Money

I started having problems with my Krups grinder almost from the start. Having bought it to replace my little $19.95 grinder (which worked just fine) I was dismayed when I began to have problems with this one. You have to continually shake the beans down in order to get them to grind, but most frustrating is the fact that it just stops working for no reason. You can push the power button again and again, and nothing. I have cleaned it and done everything possible on my end to get this thing to work. I finally took it out again tonight to give it one more try, and the same thing happened. It ground about 1 cup of beans and then just quit for no reason. I wiggled the top, the ground coffee receptacle, unplugged and replugged it, pushed the power button, changed the grind setting, and nothing. Luckily, I had kept my little inexpensive grinder and finished up my coffee with it. This Krups GVX2 is going in the trash. I won't even donate it and do this to someone else.

Krups Coffee Grinder Could Be Great If It Would Only Work

Owned the grinder for over a year and from day one the beans where not flowing into the grinder unless it was shaken, smacked, or banged then it would work for a few seconds. Nobody at Krups seems to care nor do they want to talk about it. I have been hung up on when i tried to explain the problems i was having. Very frustrating. I am just about done with this machine and will start looking for a replacement from a diffrent manufacture.

Love my coffee! Just hate the grinder.

I have cleaned it and tried everything i can think of to get this grinder to work properly on a daily bases but to no avail.

Poor Build Quality

Received the grinder as a gift to replace our aged propeller grinder. It's pretty loud (probably not avoidable) and seems to have some odd electrical issue where, even if not turned on, it will run when we use another appliance in the same outlet (though perhaps that's just the house wiring). That's more weird than problematic, however.

Real issues with it: the push button to start grinding broke off under normal use (it simply disappeared into the interior of the machine), and the bin that the grounds collect in (as mentioned by others) generates a terrific static charge when grinding more than 6c worth or so, sending grounds literally flying across the counter when you open it. The cut-out switches on the lid and bin are also fairly sensitive, and occasionally interrupt the grinding process when the lid/bin is in place.

For the last couple months, it needs to be shaken continuously to get the coffee to grind, probably meaning that the burrs need to be replaced/the whole thing needs to be taken apart and cleaned out. I don't think this is a flaw (just a matter of time) but I can't say it looks like the process will be easy/intuitive.

It's Easy To Use, It's Possible To Specify The Num

It's easy to use, it's possible to specify the number of cups needed and the size of the grounds. The coffee tastes very good. It looks quite good and is not too large.

I Contacted Krups Shortly After Buying Our Gvx2 As

I contacted Krups shortly after buying our GVX2 as I found the top part became hot if left plugged into the wall socket. I had an immediate acknowledgement - then nothing. A second try brought the same results. We took to switching it off at the wall, which seemed to work. It stopped working shortly after guarantee ran out, producing a high pitched whine, but no coffee. I eventually had a reply from Krups to say in effect they were not interested. Unknown to me, my wife bought an identical machine a month ago. Same fault, heating in the upper (metal) part if left connested at the wall.

I dismantled the first machine to find a resistance (R2) had scorched the pcb and was the obvious cause of the trouble. Contacted Krups. Not interested. Now stuck with another of the same. For how long?

In addition, the static on the plastic collector box throws the coffee over quite an area when you try to fill the small dispenser for our espresso machine. Not a happy bunny.

Convincing because it had enough detail for me to follow the sequence of events AND understand the flaws with both the grinder AND Krups' customer service. As far as I'm concerned, in my current buying decision, these are FATAL flaws!
