A Classic Ruined

McVitie's need to learn that what customers want most of all is for THINGS TO STAY THE SAME. My heart sank when I saw the new packaging and that ominous "New Recipe" flash. New, but certainly not improved. These are pale imitations of the celebrated Cafe Noir biscuits of old. They are too small to dunk, no longer taste of coffee, are far too sweet and lack the hard, satisfying crispness of the original. I may as well have bought a bag of Iced Gems, or a packet of the cheap generic iced party rings on sale in Pound Shops. Not a smart move, McVitie's.

P.S. I am now off to look for recipes for coffee-flavoured Royal icing so I can have a go at making my own. They couldn't be any worse and, who knows, I may make my fortune if it works!

Mcvitiea Cafe Noir Biscuits.

The original Cafe Noir was one of my favourites, but the. New biscuit tastes revolting, nothing like a " Cafe Noir". Why

Did they ruin this lovely recipe, The tiny biscuits are ridiculous, more like for a dolls tea party.

Horrible and I will never buy them in this recipe again.

The inner packaging tears and splits too easily , and can never be re-sealed, rediculousawful tate now compared to the older, larger ones.. Im sure that suprisingly they had a very low sugar content.. Not now !

Vegetarian At Last But No Coffee Taste

I like the fact that these new Cafe Noir biscuits are vegetarian, but they have no taste at all. We need half the sugar and double the coffee in them. Why are they so small? The old size was much more satisfying to eat. There is no flavour in these at all. These used to be my favourite biscuits. How did these ever get past the tasting committee at Mcvities?

It is like soggy cardboard and no coffee element to them. Biscuits this size probably means we spend far more for the same weight of food. It is like a cardboard biscuit for midgets. Please redo the recipe and keep it vegetarian but make a real coffee biscuit. A delicious coffee biscuit to nibble with a cup of coffee these are not!!!!

Not A Patch

Very disappointing. Bring back the original ones. Too small, poor taste, not worth the money.

Worst Biscuits Ever

The old version of cafe noir biscuit was crispy tasty and not so sweet. The new version is absolutely horrible. I gave them to a few people , everybody hated them and then I threw them out. What was wrong with them to change the original biscuit.

Unless they bring back the original I would never dream of trying this biscuit again. Personally, whoever came up with this recipe should be fired.

No star from me.

Bring Back The Original

Loved the original Cafe Noir, had introduced them to Friends and family who had not tried them before and they loved them so very disappointed when my husband arrived home with this poor make over of my favourite biscuit, nothing about these will make me buy them again, terrible and how when the original single biscuit was apparently 27cals ,yet the new half the size and half the glaze are also 27cals?? Bring back the original.

New Recipe, New Size - Utter Rubbish

Not a patch on the originals, half the size very little glazing and taste totally different. It wasn't broke so why fix it. We shan't bother buying them again. The original biscuit was great - these are a poor excuse. We liked nothing about the new mini biscuit in a box. Bring back the original.

What A Shame - No More Cafe Noir For Me!

Having loved Cafe Noir for years I was very keen to try the 'new recipe'. I wish I hadn't bothered, they wereclike a completely different biscuit, half the size, hardly any icing and what icing there was hardly tasted of coffee, and the biscuit itself reminded me of a lump of cardboard!!! What used to be my favourite biscuit is no longer and I will certainly not be purchasing any more, in fact most of the pack went on the bird table - and they were not very keen!!!

Why Change A Winning Recipe???

Why change a winning recipe... I always look forward to buying a pack of McVities Café Noir when I visit the UK..

Yesterday I purchased a pack, after I finally found them, due to the new packaging. when I opened the box I expected to see two small packs of the same size as I was used to..but no.. we have a bag of mini biscuits..

My first thought was..well they will be no good for dunking..

My second thought was..oh the biscuit looks different and the icing is thinner..

My third thought on tasting them was..hmmm.. they've changed the recipe..

My fourth and final thought was.. well, I won't be buying these again..

Initially I thought the packaging was to save them getting broken which often was the case.. But wasn't sure if I agreed with using more packaging.. This i have found does not add any extra protection, as you now get lots of smaller broken biscuits..

The recipe is drier and not as tasty, the icing thinner and not as coffee rich..

The box takes up more space in the cupboard, and the flip top seal will not keep them fresh..

All in all, a bad decision by the powers that be at McVities...
