Very Pleased With Aviva.
Unfortunately after taking out our travel insurance with Aviva we had to cancel our holiday as my husband and myself were taken ill,I informed Aviva of this and was told what we had to do to make a claim.
From sending the forms and letters back to Aviva it took around 2 weeks for our claim to be settled,we were very pleased with the prompt attention to the claim.
Thank you very much Aviva.

Cheap And Nasty
Took out multi trip travel insurance but a warning to others - watch the overall claim limit of £5000 per person. It sounds a lot and for most holidays is plenty. However, they keep the same limit for worldwide holidays, and it is very easy for this to be exceeded. We booked a 28 day trip to Australia and NZ via Hong Kong incorporating a cruise and this exceeded the limit. BE AWARE!!

Quick Payout For My Dad
My Father was looking forward to a motorcycle tour in Spain but unfortunately 2 weeks beforehand while on a weekend ride out with me he had a small 'off' on his motorcycle resulting in a broken leg.
He was gutted about missing his touring mc holiday but was insured with Aviva. He found the claims process simple and was in under 2 weeks of having the accident recieved his money for his claim under his insurance policy.
Excellent work Aviva.

Brilliant Service
At the age of 60 I have had my first experience of claiming insurance.I had planned to go with my wife on a Caribbean cruise but in the days proceeding it I caught a flu like illness and was adviised not to travel.I had insurance with Aviva through my first direct account. From first calling them to settlement they have been nothing but helpful.I was able to scan and submit documents electronically and on the occasions when I spoke to their agents (i believe these are employed by a handling firm called cegagroup) they have been polite sympathetic and helpful.Full refund minus a small excess back into my account less than 14 days after submitting documents.I had been expecting a negative experience but it is difficult to think what they could have done better.

Saved The Day
I used the annual Aviva policy via my first direct account. 2 weeks before travelling a family member (not part of the travelling group) suddenly became ill, and 3 days before they died. I kept in contact with them, which helped, but in general the contact, advice and claim were all handled sympathetically and promptly, and the claim was paid in full in less than a fortnight. After all the horror stories you hear about it's great to see that a genuine claim in horrible circumstances is dealt with so well. Well done Aviva. A key part is to give as much information as you can to the medical screening line which proved invaluable in my case.

Never Again
They provide the cheapest travel insurance online but are tardy when it comes to claims. I tried to make a claim since June 2013 and it is now November. I have written to them and nothing has been done to look into my case. What is the use of paying money to the insurance company who does not attend to the customer when things go wrong?
Spain And Over 60
My parents and I took trip to Spain this year and my mother had her bag mugged from her. Aviva are telling her that she has to claim under Personal theft that has an access whereas the mugging has no access to it so telling her she can not claim. My mom was very upset and although she did not have money in her bag she was double upset to be informed of thisfrom Aviva. They have a multi policy and have only claim once in around 10 years. This is unfair time to do something.... Think twice!

Aviva Decline To Honour Their Terms And Conditions
Aviva decline to honour their terms and conditions of their policy about paying out in the event of a valid claim. After the recent death of my father in law Aviva refuse to pay out due to the fact that he was already in hospital. As the doctors have documented that he was stable and not in any way expected to die either before, during or after our holiday, Aviva should have paid out. In their terms and conditions they stipulate clearly in "black and white", that they will pay out in the event of death. Obviously not.
Seems Aviva wish to play by their own rules and not the FSA's.
My advice, do not take out any insurance policies with Aviva or be it at your own risk.

I Have Bought A Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance
I have bought a annual multi-trip travel insurance on 6th March,2010 with 10% online discount for £56.12 (+baggage cover, worldwide excluding USA). There is field to specify the start date of policy and I specified 1,April,2010.I used quidco to get £15 cashback ( so the policy cost is £41.12).
I received the policy in post and it actually starts on 6,March,2010 (date of purchase). I phoned the customer care and they said they are NOT responsible for online orders...wtf..? They said they can cancel the policy &can give me a new policy for £62.36 (without 10% online discount)starting from 1,April,2010. If they cannot honor their own online orders, then how will I be treated during times of claims, if worst thing happens..?. I canceled the policy and looking for better providers.

After A Few Years Of Car Inurance With Nudirect Th
After a few years of car inurance with NUDirect they increased their prices by 6% and way above competitors prices. I phoned to say I was not re-newing the policy. They tried to offer better prices which I rejected. I cancelled my Direct Debit.I received a letter stating I had defaulted on my credit agreement. Not so - so I phoned. They told me the policy hasd not been cancelled and wanted one month premium plus an admin fee of £49. Tehy agreed that if I returned the renewal documents and provved my new insurance - they would waive the fee and cancel the insurance. How generous of them. I returned the documents recorded post. One department sent a letter confirming cancellation wiht a date a month late and demanding £65. Another department sent a letter one day later - demanding payment in seven days or 'further action'.I phoned yet again. This time the call-centre said'we have had a system error changing from one system to another and I have written off your debt. He told me he could see I had phoned the day before - I hadn't.Who do tehy think they are - sending out threatening letters when they know they have system problems. I will not be surprised if I get yet another letter demanding payment.I'm dishgused with then adn they will not see aonne penny more from me.
