Disappointed And Unsatisfactory

I got a travel insurance for a whole year as I was planning to travel around Australia. During the covid-19, I decided to remain in Australia as I have savings, work, and this country was dealing better than UK. I decided to help the farmers who lost their farms during bushfires. However my travel insurance didn't specify if I was covered doing "volunteer manual work". I decided to phone and check for advice. I have to say that I spent over a week trying to contact them. Few failed attempts of phone calls where I got hanged up. Then an email which was answered three days later with a totally different answer, and finally, after 5 more attempts of phone calls, I got someone to answer my question. " Due to covid-19 we are asking everybody to comeback so if you are not doing any effort to come back we won't cover you. However if you are trying to come back, we will". I believe this answer was extremely unprofessional and very disappointing. I did pay for a travel insurance for 365 days, and it is not up to the insurance company to finish my trip, as they are not even willing to return my money if I need to short my travel. Very disappointed. Awful customer service.

Not What It Seems

please read policy I thought I was getting medical insurance but you are not you are only getting contrys nhs treatment not private medical insurance so wasted money on this policy as your E111 covers this as we found out on our resent trip would not recommend this policy to anyone to who medical insurance is important

I Had To Claim Due To Illness Fantastic Service

I booked a family holiday months ago, we were all going to Greece for a week and really looking forward to it. 3 weeks fore we were due to go I was rushed into hospital and ending up having surgery. I was told that I would not be able to fly due to the surgery I had to have. I telephoned Direct Travel Insurance who emailed and sent out in the post the forms to fill in to process my claim. there were 5 of us travelling on this insurance policy, I was expecting them to say only I could claim as I was the one who couldn't fly! but this is not the case I had all my money back less the £75 per person excess. This took just over 2 weeks for the money to be paid straight back into my bank account. I have always used Direct Travel insurance and will continue to use them in the future. Cant recommend them enough.

Making A Claim A Nightmare

I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS WITHOUT HAVING TO MAKE A CLAIM. HOWEVER AFTER HAVING MYPURSE STOLEN IN MADRID AND TRYING TO MAKE A CLAIM, THE HELPFULNESS OF THE COMPANY DISAPPEARED, I FILLED OUT ALL NECESSARY FORMS AND PROVIDED DOCUMENTATION BUT THEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, I WAS CONTACTED AGAIN WITH ANOTHER LIST OF REQUIREMENTS- IE LETTERS FROM BANKS PROVING EXACTLY WHAT TIME THEY WERE CONTACTED TO CANCEL CARDS - EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T CLAIMING FOR THAT. COPIES OF BANK STATEMENTS PROVING THAT FRIENDS HAD LENT ME CASH AFTER THE THEFT AND THAT I HAD PAID IT BACK!!! ALSO THEN ACOPY OF THE RECEIPT FROM THE BANK WHERE I HAD PURCHASED EUROS, THIS WAS SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER MY TRIP AND I KNOW THAT CERTAIN FIENDS WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PRODUCE THAT - ALMOST A TRAP SO THAT THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY OUT. IF DIRECT TRAVEL THINK THAT I WOULD QUEUE AT A MADRID POLICE STATION FOR 2 HOURS FOR POLICE REPORT JUST SO I COULD DEFRAUD THEMOUT OF £200 THEY ARE VERY NAIVE. SO WATCH OUT WHEN PURCHASING A POLICY FROM THEM - THE PLEASANTRIES DON'T CONTINUE IF YOU NEED TO MAKE A CLAIM

Didnt Pay On Your Return Trip

They refuse to pay the cost between the airport ( London ) to Somerset, due the airline arrived 2 hours late, due bad weather on the airport.. when called to Direct Travel, they told, just cover the flights cancellations or delays, but not the transport inside of the country... never again untrusted insurance

Awkward To Extend Or Change Your Policy!

I have been a customer for annual trip insurance with Direct Travel Insurance for many years and found them satisfactory. This year my auto renewal price shot up over 20% and when I rang to find out why there was such an increase no-one could tell me. (I am a slim, healthy, non-smoking female in my fifties). I cancelled my auto renewal but told them that my annual policy ran out 3 days into an 8 day trip to Turkey and I asked if I could buy a single trip policy to cover me or extend my policy for the same. The operator was not helpful and although this was only two weeks before I was due to travel, he told me to ring back nearer the time! Phone call no 2: after 13 minutes of hanging on the line - a lot of time wasting asking for my personal details twice and reading policy details which I am already covered for for the first 3 days of the trip I was given a price which is more than I have been quoted elsewhere! So yes I am disappointed. There could be better staff training for a start and interest in loyal clients as well as a more common sense approach in dealing with policy alterations. I don't feel valued as a customer with this company.

No Customer Service

After making several mistakes with my insurance I decided to terminate the policy, Eight emails later and at least six telephone calls ( calls cost more than the actual policy ) I was informed I would be getting a refund and compensation for my time and calls, Five weeks later I have received the refund for my policy , but still after three telephone conversations and as many promises that the check had been posted, still nothing.

I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy, their customer services are non excistant .

On the phone ten minutes going through all the preexisting medical conditions Then told that the heart and prostate cancer I had declared would not be covered. What sort of mickey mouse insurance is this? Try Avanti or Saga and obtain insurance that what gives you the cover that is needed. How can any insurance company send you on holiday without full cover? InsureandGo UK you're fired! Regards, If you do not cover heart and cancer inform in your advertisements. 'no Hassle' Claim. Fantastic Service!

Due to a death in the family, we had to delay going on our holiday to a gite in France. We had to pay supplements to Ryanair for changing flights, we lost 4 days' stay at the gite and four days' car hire. Added to that, my wife broke her Kindle DX on the second day! It took a bit of time getting the right documents but Travel Direct paid out in full! There had to be two claims: we paid 2 excesses (£75 per person) for the holiday loss and 1 excess (my wife) for her Kindle. Highly recommended!

Extraordinary Customer Service With Health Claim

This company are amazing. We always use them for health insurance during short trips to the US. Really, they should refuse us cover (but they never do!) cos we keep getting unlucky and making small claims (eg one of our kids cut his finger open and it needed a stitch) which in the US system cost $thousands.

They pick up the phone immediately (no waits or listening to music or messages), are extremely helpful, and deal with the hospital payments system directly themselves. (So they don't bother us, and we don't have to pay anything and claim back later.) They have a US address/phone number one can use to satisfy the US hospitals. They're nothing short of miraculous. I love them.
