The Samsung Dvd-r120 Was Not A Cheap Dvd Recorder
The Samsung DVD-R120 was not a cheap DVD recorder and I have only owned it for 8 months and now have to look at buying another one, as this machine is absolutely useless and resets and doesn't record properly at all. Don't buy it!!!

I Have Never Seen A Dvd Player Work So Poorly In M
I have never seen a dvd player work so poorly in my life and the Samsung DVD-R120 does and it machine wasn't cheap either. I will never buy another Samsung again in my life or anyone I know either. I have wanted to take this dvd player/recorder outside and smash it to pieces.

7 Times Out Of 10 When I Record With This Samsung
7 times out of 10 when I record with this Samsung DVD-R120 machine the recording stops before it should.
If I set the timer for 4 hours, it I find that it will record for only about 1-2 hours.
Also, in my experience, when using the OTR button, it will also stop before it should.
My advice to you would be - stay away from this DVD Recorder. I wish that I had.

The Samsung Dvd-r120 Dvd Recorder Has Two Very Bad
The Samsung DVD-R120 DVD Recorder has two very bad quirks that cause me to rate this recorder as not acceptable. The first is that DVD-Rs recorded and finalized on this unit do not "play-through" the chapters on other DVD Players. That is, when you insert the disc into any other player it only plays the first chapter and then stops. You have to manually go through the menu to select each part of the recording you want to view. The second problem is that the format of DVD-RWs recorded by the R120 is non-standard and you cannot edit or copy it on most computers. It finalizes DVD-RWs using files named "VR_MOVIE_IFO", "VR_MOVIE_BUP", and "VR_MOVIE_VRO" where the VRO file is approximately equivalent to a VOB. The problem is that most players or editing programs don't know what the heck a VRO file is!
Other than those serious problems, the quality and ease of use of this unit is very good to excellent. What a shame that they botched up those two important functions. By the way, the latest firmware on the Samsung website does not fix the problems (as of Sep 4, 2006).
