Pork Scratchings Are Not Crackling!
What a disappointing roast pork. Instead of the "chef" preparing a roast pork with crackling as advertised, he scattered a few morsels from a packet of pork scratchings onto the plate. I've never been so insulted as a patron of that establishment for many a year.

We Read Reviews From Last Year Which Were Not Good
We read reviews from last year which were not good but this years reviews were much better so we thought we would give the corner cupboard a try. We are glad that we did as it was a really nice place with good food and friendly service

This Hardly Rates A One Star, Which Is For The Lit
This hardly rates a one star, which is for the little waitress who was on duty at 7pm and did her best. We reserved a table for 3 on Saturday 14.11.09. We had to wait to be seated whilst the only member of staff on duty in the restaurant seated and took the order for another table. She said she was the only one on duty as the other waitress had arrived but was having a meal! (The restaurant opened at 6pm). Salmon, Bass and Lemon Sole were the fish on offer. The waitress told us that there was no bass left. This was disappointing as we were only the 2nd table to arrive and order and it was only 7pm. By the time guests at a third table arrived the lemon sole had also disappeared from the specials board, so the only main fish (apart from fish pie) was the salmon. The second waitress arrived to take our order. Her top was so low that it was a wonder her more than ample breasts managed to stay housed. She was incapable of even smiling. One of our guests requested whitebait as a main meal rather than a starter. When it arrived it was piled on a bed of salad and completely covered and towered on the plate; a really unappetising presentation, in fact a mess. I ordered a steak which arrived on a stone cold plate. I then had to wait for the chips and by the time they arrived the steak was luke warm. A jug of water was eventually bought to us and the glasses just plonked on the end of the table. The puddings were the usual pre-packed micro-waved sort, totally uninspired and there was no cheese and biscuits on offer.
When it came to paying the table next to ours asked to see the Manager. He had an issue with his steak but was told there was nothing to be done as he had eaten it. He said it was sometimes difficult to complain at the time but would now like to raise the issue. The Manageress then went to get someone called Andrew but returned saying he was too busy to deal with the customer's complaint. We then asked to pay and I mentioned that my steak had been served on a cold plate and I'd had to wait a long time for the chips. She hardly stopped in passing saying she would pass on my comments to Andrew.
The waitresses were appallingly dressed. Couldn't the Management even provide them with matching aprons? The only person to emerge from the kitchen had hair hanging around face and shoulders and looked to be in a tracksuit.
The food presentation was appalling and the lack of customer care by the (I think) Manageress was a disgrace. The menu was limited and totally uninspiring. I would not go again and with the good choice of other places to eat in Winchcombe would not recommend anyone even bothers to go there.
