Sad Experience

Please I was persuade to get a card from them with the sim of 6k dollars on getting know the card will not even arrive to my location I waited a lot before I reported to ERIB.IO they file a complaint against them and I was able to recover my money back

If I Could Give 0 Stars I Would

Santander is stuck in the middle ages. Over the last few months I've encountered inadequacy of service I did not believe possible. It has taken around 4 months for us to remove leavers from our business from our bank account, which creates a huge risk from a business perspective (as people who have left our business have had ongoing access to our bank account). When we sent over the KYC info for new directors, someone accidentally ticked a box, which removed our ability to make online payments and ground our business to a halt. I immediately sent another document (by post) which arrived one week ago. We still do not have the ability to make online payments. We have been advised that to make payments we can either send a request by post (lol) or that myself and our MD can both ring the bank to request a payment is made (hold times are up to 45 mins). I've spoken to the bank 3 times and the issue is not solved. Do not use Santander if you want to operate a viable business.

They Should No Be Accepting Accounts

Been with them for quite some time but now looking to change. Dont give you enough space to write complete name of comapny down then payment rejected as name is incorrect. people at Santander said we know this is an issue but up to Technical department to correct it 2 years later and we are still waiting.

The do not care about you or your business and thier Business accounts are a joke and expensive.

Don,t waste you time and look elsewhere you will have an easier life.

Awful Experience

I have had a Santander account for my business for 18 years (Previously it was Alliance and Leicester before Santander took them over)

In November 2022 they summarily closed my account,without notice or reason having made me ,and my business partner expend quantities of time on AML verification which included listing all my assets in detail along with a plethora of other items that were way beyond the normal scope of AML procedure.

What a waste of time!

Since closure of the account they have failed to return my funds 76,000 GBP despite 6 weeks elapsing.

I have made numerous appeals and wasted countless amount of time on phone calls to a series of hapless agents in their complaints dept! I have been told variously,that a cheque was in the post,that a cheque has been lost and cancelled,that a new cheque is in the post,that a bacs transfer is being done to my nominated other account,that they can t actually do a BACS transfer......and so the saga goes on.

This is deeply stressful and could have caused operational and reputational damage to my business which has a flawless credit history.

Myself and my business partner also have top credit scores and are full UK citizens domiciled in the UK and with

full UK tax status.

Santander are a total disgrace and should never be allowed to treat people like this.

Please avoid this strange organization!They have revealed a dimension of incompetence and callousness that I have only ever read about existing in 3rd World countries.

Stay clear of this Count Down to Crisis trading program. Lots of losing trades. And his customer service is horrible. I have emailed support multiple times & haven't got a single response at all. All my funds has been stocked up in there. Thank God got a refund from the 3rd party Joan C.Hopkins.

The Worst Bank

The worst bank to open business account or to remove signatory from the account

When I open the accounts the head of accounts asking me to fax the paper work

I did that 5 times and then he realised that he asked me the wrong paper work

Now I wanna to remove a signatory from the account and here we go again

Has Been Ok, But Can No Longer Recommend.

We opened a Santander business account 5 years ago. We have simple banking needs (no cash, hardly any cheques, just online payments). For this it's all worked smoothly enough. When I have had a query, it's generally been answered OK.

That changed this year. OK - I've made some allowance for delays many companies experienced this year and got used to waiting a 2-3 days for an answer, but the problems are bigger than that.

We were trying to get an answer about an issue which did not involve any detailed account or transaction information. Sent a secure messagem, but I was directed to their phone service instead. That took ten minutes to get through all the while recorded messages trying to get me to go to use Secure Messaging or the website. When I did get through to someone, it was an answer that could have been given by secure message.

Tried to follow up on that and just got another response telling me to call instead. Couldn't even reply this time as they have now terminated the secure message service altogether. So now you have to use online chat. I don't mind online chat, but of course, it's chatting with a bot which means when you have something that's not run of the mill you're expected to jump through hoops before you can get near a person.

Then there's no way to continue that dialogue if the issue is not resolved on one chat - you start from scratch again.

Frankly, this poor level of service does not justify the monthly fee which is slightly higher than other banks.

Santander blocked my business account three days ago with no notice. This is the second time in three years when Santander damages my business. I called their customer service and complaint department. I have an impression that they employ parrots. They all say the same 'We apologise but we cannot give you information why your account blocked, you have to wait'. How long one week, month, year? I explained that I have contracts, containers at port, I am bearing huge losses. They do not want to know anything. If your bank does not care that it makes its client bankrupt what king of bank it is. I do not recommend this bank to anyone!

Extremely poor service. Trying to close down a business banks account and after 2 years of jumping through hoops I still haven't jumped through enough!

Just a relatively small amount I need to pull out but everything conveniently "not enough". Disappointing and would stop me having anything to do with Santander either business wise or personally.

Simple, Cheap And Brilliant!

I'm a sole trader small business with <£150k turnover. I bank 99% via online DD in, BACS out. Cash deposits and the odd cheque goes through local branch or via the post office. I've banked with Santander for over 10 years now and have found it to be low cost and really good. The website is fantastic and simple to use. If you are a small service based sole trader I highly recommend!

Very Poor App And Online Service

They got very primitive app. No Face ID. Everytime you have to enter your password and security no. After 3 failed attempts you are locked out. You will get your password through post.

You cannot add a new payee usung app. Total nightmare.

Opening account wasn’t easy either. For every contact with the customer services it takes them 72 hours to resolve your query. It took me 6 weeks to get an account. Stay away.
