Bailey Ranger In Australia

We purchased this van from people in Queensland they had it imported! We were a little concerned when we first looked at it mainly because we had not heard of this van before. It took us some weeks to decide on buying it. The van is very good for 2 people with all the mod cons shower etc just loved the fact I have a nice size oven! The fridge is a little small but can make do. I towed this van 800 kms with a Nissan Patrol DX the way it handled was great.it sat in behind the Nissan and no movement because of the short draw bar I presumed. We have it set up onsite at the moment the annexe is great! But getting it up took all day! Would change the annexe to a rollout type in the future for ease of setting up while travelling. The van is always cool due to the abundance of windows and screens and blinds and curtains make this a very comfortable van. We have a broken outside light that we cant see how to remove! Have sent emails to Baileys but no reply. Overall a very nice van and very well priced compared to other vans with all the same contents.

Bought The Caravan In 2007 And Toured Uk - Nearly

Bought the caravan in 2007 and toured UK - nearly 7000 miles in eight weeks. Travelled from Cheltenham to St Davids - Mid Wales - Chester - Keswick - Culzean Castle (Scotland) - Oban - Inverness - Scourrie Bay - Wick - Aberdeen - St Andrews - Berwick on Tweed - Lincoln - Cheltenham. No problems at all during the time and the caravan peformed perfectly. Towed with a Subaru Forester 2.0ltr. Excellent Caravan and will recommend to anyone.

We Bought This Caravan From The Big Caravan Dealer

We bought this caravan from the big caravan dealers in Dumfries and we are absolutely thrilled with it.

The shower is a really decent size for a caravan which is a real bonus.

It is really spacious as the sofa seats on either side at the front are long enough to make two single beds. We haven't had any trouble with the drawers falling out whilst being in transit.

All in all we have had a good few days of happy caravaning!!!!

Purchased This Bailey Ranger 510/4 Van In 2005 So

Purchased this Bailey Ranger 510/4 van in 2005 so now starting its fifth year of use.

The front ABS panel was replaced under warranty by Bailey in the second year due to stress fractures which seem common on some Baileys around this year of manufacture.

I have towed this van, MTPL 1259kgs, with a Citroen C5 and a Kia Sedona with no problems.

The layout of this van can be used as a five berth with the front bed used as two singles and a tot in the centre, as we have used it with our Grandson. We haven't used the table area as beds yet but may do so in the future now we also have a Grand Daughter.

The van is warm and comfy in cold weather with the heater on and ticking over either on gas or electric.

As previously stated, the rear toilet door should be closed for towing as its likely to strain the hinges which aren't very robust. I also remove the kitchen drawers when towing and store on the floor as they have slid out in the past due to the magnets not being strong enough to hold them in place.

I have found it Impossible to get a nose weight of 85kgs with two gas bottles installed in the front locker without affecting stability by counter weighting the rear. The spare wheel, an extra, will also make the front too heavy. It can be stored under the van with an Alko wheel bracket, but you will find it impossible to remove, using an Alko side lift jack on the same side.

If you can get this van at a good price buy it but do check the front and rear ABS panels for stress fractures especially on the top where they are joined to the roof section, you will need steps for this.

All in all, a good van but I suspect not as good as earlier Baileys.

I found this review very helpful because I am considering a 510/4. I also have a C5 and the bit about stress fractures was very important.

We Took Our Bailey Ranger 510/4 Caravan From Aberd

We took our Bailey Ranger 510/4 caravan from Aberdeen to the south of London for our holidays and never had any problems with it. This is our first caravan and we think it is fantastic value for money. When towing on the motorway it sits rock steady when used with the ALKO Hitch. When we come to replace this van we will probably buy another Bailey as they do seem to give good quality for a good price. We purchased this van from Dyce Caravans complete with full Awning.

Q&A

dnrcs

I have a 2004 Bailey Ranger 510/4l which has a crack in its front window. This window is full width and the crack is on the outer panel near side and starts from the hinge bar vertically down for about 9" with the outer panel having convex shape.

I have seen several reviews on this caravan that suggest that the front panels of this caravan may be stressed. Is this correct?

I would appreciate any comments on my problem with the window.

Could anyone tell me if the 2003 Bailey Ranger 510\4 has electric water heating?
