Buy Anything But The Indesit Idl 40.

Not the cheapest dishwasher on the market by any stretch, but it is one of the cheaper slimline units - the ONLY reason it was purchased.

Went wrong twice within the first 6 months of ownership, with call-outs from Indesit Engineers on both occasions to re-seat the thermostat on the back of the door (a well known and well documented design fault with this model).

After the second Engineers' visit we stopped calling them out because the issue recurred so frequently. Took out a 3 year guarantee at the time of purchase, but surprisingly nothing needed replacing during that time - other than the weak, poorly designed "console panel" - or in English, the grab handle on the front of the dishwasher door.

It tears, splits, and eventually snaps the handle clean off. We've replaced it already and now need a third inside of 3 years. Neither of us are heavy handed...

As a result of the thermostat design fault, the heating element has now burned out and needs replacing (which I'll gladly do in order to prevent any Indesit Engineers from taking our money). Not buying it directly from Indesit either...they've had the last of our money!!!

In short, cheap, but not durable, wish we'd never bought it. 3 out of 10, in that it's worked for the most part but has been very problematic.

Idl40 Cannot Be Trusted

I bought this dishwasher as it was the smaller size needed for my kitchen but from day one it had issues.

Sometimes it cleans perfectly but mostly at least half of the glasses have grit over them and occasionally everyhting is covered it grit.

The trays have 3 plate holding prongs broken off and 2 more broken but still attached by the plastic coating.

I would not want anyone else to be troubled with this dishwasher and as soon as I can I want to replace it with a better model.

Does Not Wash Well Or Dry Well. Glasses Won't Fit

Does not wash well or dry well. Glasses won't fit in top without changing tray position; dinner plates won't fit when upper tray is in glasses position. I wish I had spent another hundred and got another Bosch.

Indesit Provide Warning Lights On The Front Of The

Indesit provide warning lights on the front of the IDL40 but no explanation as to what they mean. They will however charge you to send a "technician" to tell you what they mean. Appalling customer service.

I Have Had My Indesit Idl40 For Two Years With No

I have had my Indesit IDL40 for two years with no problems and would buy another one if needed. It's small but with good place settings, easy to clean, easy to use. The only downside is the door doesn't stay open when you want to put detergent in, need to keep my knee on it to keep it down

One Week Within Warranty, Our Indesit Idl40 Starte

One week within warranty, our Indesit IDL40 started not to dry very well, then a warning light shown cycle not complete. Then gave warning lamp signs that filter was blocked and would not complete cycle.

Filter perfectly clean. Tried 2 times again but then would not wash leaving soap tablet at bottom of door.

On hold ages trying to contact Indesit so gave up. Phoned consumer direct, then problem resolved with Tesco from where it was purchased.
