Was Great, Now A Rip Off

I was with Bluehost for 10 years. They were wonderful- no down time, no lost email. It is time to renew. Great tech support. All of a sudden, they want twice as much money for much less space. Basically, they offered me 5 email accounts (they had been unlimited), each with 100 MB of space (space was unlimited before this), and a very limited amount of space for my website. They would not negotiate.

My new company is 1/3 of the price, unlimted space and email accounts. Tech support from this company told me that Bluehost has been sold to a big company (EIG), and that they will also be outsourcing the tech support.

All of this was deeply disappointing. They seem to want to drive away service. They have a cheap come-on rate, and now are really jacking up the renewal rates (this is actually called an upgrade!), and providing substantially less.

Been With Bluehost For Over 10 Years...10 Painful Years

Email issue. Server down time, not secure, and now nickel and dime. Recently they shut all my sites down and said I had malware somewhere and could not get my sites back up until I removed it.

They offered now help to identify where it was at and gave me a list of a few hundred pages where it might be at.

I asked how they would identify my changes if they do not know where the malware is at? Basically the did know where it was at and wanted to sell me SiteLock service for $249 a year.

Avoid these guys.

Domain Is A Hostage

Initial setup was quick and easy. I am at fault for jumping in too quickly. E-mail and calendar tools not strong enough for my team. While bluehost partners with Google apps for work, I would prefer to go direct with that relationship.

Bottom line - excel used the 30 day money back guarantee, but functionality to add a DNS record to a domain suddenly is not working. A transfer to GoDaddy who can support my needs will not happen for 60 days from registration. Cannot get google set up without the DNS record and bluehost will not add the record.

Thanks bluehost, for putting my business on hold.

Yes Yes Yes

They are great...

Good support very helpful lots of ad ons and unlimted everything.

Only thing to watch out for is that the number of files you use doesn't get too big (50,000) but that's about it.

From the UK I use them with a cheap calling card and I get through to someone who is knowledgeable patient and helpful... who cares about me as a customer.

Have moved here from heartinternet.co.uk which I had used before but who were obstinate when you tried to stop things automatically renewing... it makes you feel like they care more about the money than you... not the case with bluehost.

highly recommended... just keep the files below 50k (easy if you aren't bulding joomla websites or using moodle)

A Honeymoon Host

I received a great hosting service from Bluehost for the first year, but after that the relationship turned a little sour. With no warning or reminders that the account was about to auto-renew, they suddenly took twice the price of the first years hosting out of my bank account. This very nearly put me over my overdraught limit and set me up for all those lovely bank charges.

I contacted Bluehost about it, and to be fair they did offer to cancel the account and refund the auto-renew charge - but by then I was in a corner, as I wouldn't have had time to migrate my website to a new host. so I was obliged to suck-up their new price and deal with it. So I did accept their inflated price for that year, but then left for greener (cheaper) pastures.

As I said Bluehost did provide a decent hosting service, it's just the sneaky up-charging and auto-renewing policy that got my heckles up.

I Use Bluehost To Host A Wordpress Blog, To Give M

I use Bluehost to host a Wordpress blog, to give me more power than hosting it on Wordpress.com. I was amazed how simple it was to setup (just a few clicks) and also extra domains were quite cheap to purchase ($10 for .com). So, I'm a happy customer!

I LOVE Bluehost. I move to Bluehost from POWWEB when they were bought and their customer service/tech support took a nose dive. Bluehost has helped me on numerous occasions, and you really cant beat their price. They just expanded their offerings (bandwidth/emails/other services) and didn't raise their price.
