Rust Bucket

I have had my machine for 4 years, and it started rusting at the powder dispenser after about 18 months, it has now rusted all around drawer and at front of machine, unbeatable as l use washing tabs all of the time. Disgusted l chose this for the capacity and the fact it had steam refresh. Never again would chose any make bar this make in future

If It's Hotpoint, Stay Away!

This machine is loud and has needed fixing 6 times, including the cracked concrete block fault!

The tech support is slow and almost useless.

I will in future stay away from anything Hotpoint, no matter how good the price, the quality of this product and the support backup from Hotpoint is so,so bad!

10 Years Old And Strong

I'm doing this after reading all the negative reviews. I have not been a very good owner to this machine and it regularly gets used and abused without love, care and attention it should get. I'm not sure what everyone else is doing but mines indestructible.

I have the first model that came out. The only thing that fell off was a rubber band that went round the dial. It's been a fab washer doing five of us and 2 dogs. I've done the half loads and full. I shove clothes that have been covered with diesel to cement and three school uniforms, every week. Never put a duvet in it but that's my choice I just buy new.

I will be gutted when...if it dies. ;)

Snap. Paid £170 for a virtual new same machine off Ebay in 2012. 8 years on, it's still as quiet as a mouse when spinning. Amazing features like 30 min cycle, steam cycle and delay timer are a godsend.

Hate It

paid over 500 quid for this machine, its awful. The programmes are soo damn long the shirtest being 30 minutes on an 800 spin so you then have to respin taking an extra 16 minutes. If you dont do this they are extremely wet. The white washes are ridiculously long at around 2 hours plus. No rinse hold and rinse and spin option takes takes 49 minutes. Overall i am really disappointed.

Hotpoint.? Hot Piece Of Rubbish More Like.

Do not waste your money on this imposter and don't rely on'which' as as recommendation. The so called experts haven't a clue what they are talking about. I cancelled my subscription to that magazine after it recommended a John Lewis fridge freezer that turned out to be a Dud. Right lets get started on the 'Hotpoint' Aqualatis washing machine. What I disliked:-

1. Cycles are far too long.

2. When economy button is used spin cycle is compromised, in that there is no spin.

3. Soap detergent is left on clothes after wash

4. Even after following instructions of not overfilling drum clothes come out wrinkled and creased.

What I liked:-

1.The machine is very quiet.

2.the machine is able to open midway during beginning of cycle to pop an item in if you've forgotten something.

3. The machine is good looking.

4. Easy to use

Called Engineer as I have 2 months left on the 1year warranty and clothes were only being partly washed and leaving soap detergent residue on them. Engineer ran tests for over an hour and said there was nothing wrong. Couple of weeks later machine played up again doing the same thing. I'm not bothering to call again as I HATE this machine so much. Just saving the dough and waiting for it to completely stop working or until I've reached my cash target of purchasing another brand preferably German or American

If I had known before that the cycles would be sooooooo long and take up soooooo much water I would not have purchased this piece of rubbish.

Who were the people that destigned this? Who were they aiming at?

Hotpoint/Indesit you will NEVER get my money ever again

Overheating Hotpoint Washing Machine

Purchased this washing machine about 14 months ago. had to stop washing cycle as the machine was overheating and the smell of burning rubber was awful. not happy paying for an expensive machine to break down so quicky. hotpot -we'll they are just pushing their protection plan for £14.95 per month or £110 call out an engineer to fix the problem - which I have now discovered a common manufacturer problem with the aqualtis. not happy. looking into trading standards consumer rights even watchdog

Waste Of Money

I bought this machine as it was recommended by 'Which' but wish I hadn't. Just over a year, after purchase, the selector dial stopped working. I am now only able to wash clothes at 30 degrees!

'Which' should instantly stop recommending this machine. I think I'll return to a German made washing machine as they last decades.

3 Months Old And Broken!!!!

Just had to pay an extra £65 to get full cover for an FO5 fault, something blocked so might not be a parts failure. Person on phone said it could be a child's sock or something like that. SO I just bought a washing machine for £475 so my 3 kids could have clean clothes and I am told that a child's sock can break it. Marvelous. The wonders of modern Hotpoint technology. Why did I bother. I now have to wait a week for the engineer to fix it. And it's only 3 months old....

I've Had Nothing But Trouble With Hotpoint Machines

Hotpoint used to be 'the' brand to have, however, this is not the case now! This is the 3rd Hotpoint machine I have had over the past 14 years (only because they had to keep replacing it on the insurance and I had to have Hotpoint) and have just bought a Samsung after refusing to pay any more insurance on this dog.

The bearings have gone on this model a few times and the whole drum unit has to be replaced. The door holds water against the seal which then goes mouldy unless you wipe it with bleach. It stinks! I have never had a problem with this before and the drainage is fine in our house, it's a problem with the pump out on this machine.

There are a few good points on this machine, you can stop it part way through a cycle which is handy when the kids discover they haven't in fact brought all their washing down. The 7.5kg load is great when you always have a lot of washing and the 30min quick wash is helpful when you need something in a hurry.

All in all would I recommend a Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM, errr no!

Consistent Problems. Not Fit For Purpose.

We have encountered numerous problems. The dial stopped working at one point and as it was still under guarantee the manufactures sent out a technician. He admitted that this was a common fault and left another "spare" dial for future problems !!!

The machine OFTEN will not finish a cycle. The timer will be stuck on 1minute and it will not spin. The product seemed to be good value at time of purchase but we have had to re-spin washes so often that it is becoming laborious.

When you call the phone line to make a record of your purchase they put a lot of pressure on you to buy the extra guarantee. £70. The reason they put so much pressure is that you WILL need it !!!!!

When it works it works well but if you lead a busy life you need to weigh up the hassle of phoning for a technician and having to run a programme again because it has not done what it is supposed to !!!

i regret not spending more to get something that does what it says on the tin!

I totally agree with you. I purchased mine last May after my beloved 'Whirlpool' broke down and was put on the scrap heap as it was beyond repair.

I was very hesitant with Hotpoint as I've purchased items of theirs before I.e. Fridge freezer and then a larder fridge and they were frankly rubbish.

More than a few years later I bought this one as I was taken by the 11kg drum and the price £430 but since using it it's been a thorn in my side. The wash cycles are far too long. When the economy button is pressed the spin cycle is compromised, in that there is no spin. I don't overfill the drum or put too much detergent yet the clothes come out with particles of soap detergent on the clothes and are very creased.

An engineer came out a couple of weeks ago as the machine was now washing only part of the clothes, in that some of the clothes were bone dry and some wet after each cycle. Engineer stayed for over an hour testing and found nothing wrong as the machine started filling up properly only to do the same thing no soon afterward.

I'm thankful that I didn't take out any insurance on this rubbish and will NEVER purchase a Hotpoint product ever again. I'll stick to the German or American made ones.

The only plus side I found was that it is very quiet

Q&A

PamWilson41

Our machine had an F5 message flashing telling me to unblock the machine. We have had all the pipes off and cleaned them all through and none have a blockage. Tried doing a wash and the same message has appeared and the machine is full of towels, which are sopping wet and trapped in the machine. Can anyone help? It would be greatly appreciated.
