Never Again. We Was Visited By Sharman Quinney We

Never again.

We was visited by Sharman Quinney Werrington who won us over to sell our property with their statistics of how great the were but turned out to be a horrific experience. It all started with small things like from viewings, feedback. Basically, we didn't get any without chasing them.

Then we received our first sale in November 2020, a cash buyer great! At one point in December there was a delay from our sellers paperwork, the branch manager insisted I personally go knock at the sellers door for the paperwork... something I didn't feel comfortable with plus were in a pandemic! The searches was meant to be booked in January but we later found out from the other agent that Sharman Quinney "forgot" causing a delay of a few weeks. Eventually we had a survey completed on the house were selling and there was some issues, Sharman Quinney failed to provide the appropriate information to fix these issues with giving only vague verbal explanations causing further delays yet again. We finally got the issues resolved at a cost to us of around £500, our buyer then disappeared in March and would not answer the phone to Sharman Quinney again. We later got the truth from another agent...

So we relisted the property. I requested the Sharman Quinney conveyancing portal is updated but I was passed around from person to person as no one knows how to update this. We basically had to abandon this service which we are paying for because of pure incompetence.

We managed to secure another buyer, everything felt like it was going smoothly until the last 2-3 weeks where we was ready to exchange before it collapsed again. I was made aware by Sharman Quinney that our buyers buyer had been no responsive for some time. I regularly questioned this and as we approached a 3rd week of no response, I reached out to our buyer by post to contact me. Our buyer phoned me and believed the delay was being caused by a covenant, I said its your buyer. It soon become clear that the information I had was correct and they had not informed their client my buyer. They was extremely upset and we all eventually agreed this had once again collapsed.

Now were in April 2021, I explained I needed a buyer whose in a position to buy quickly as we've held on to our purchase upto this point. I spoke to Sharman Quinney on a Thursday and was told that they have AT LEAST 10 people wanted to view my property that they would arrange for the following Tuesday as the house was empty. So they had a number of days to get some interest right? Tuesday comes and I've heard nothing, so I contact them and they say; we think we have 1 viewing... so I'm not happy! We take the viewing and they make an offer, great! We spoke with the branch manager who talked us round into making this offer sound great. We then find out from the other agent that this buyer is selling a leasehold property... Something that is not going to be a quick turnaround! Something that Sharman Quinney failed to mention to benefit themselves once again.

It was at this point we served notice on Sharman Quinney. The process had affected by day to day life, my work and my marriage. I experienced some of the worst anxiety in my whole life and feel Sharman Quinney's only care for me as a client was money and not our wellbeing. For a company that supports Mind charity, the staff need some training in mental health!!!

Now 8-9 months in, were at risk of loosing the property were trying to buy after a catalogue of disasters. Before we went to market, my friend had made an offer on our house which we declined as was too low. In desperation we have now accepted this offer 20k under market value, were having to pay stamp duty and then to top it off Sharman Quinney email to say they will be pursuing their final sale fee. They believe the buyer was introduced during their contract whilst we was on notice but however existed long before. This was like a final nail in my coffin as I'm sure at this point the branch manager is trying to personally finish me off.

I'm now just broken by the process, I've lost time, money and emotions on a whole different level just trying to move to a new family home. Sharman Quinney will tell you everything you want to hear without considering your wellbeing as long as it benefits their pockets. Disgusting!

Major Failing In Conveyancing Leaving Us Stunned

Expecting to have funds of sale transferred on Monday this week. Conveyancing team completely 'forgot' this was happening and have fallen silent. My partner received shocking call to say that Sharman Quinney Home Conveyancing 'could no longer act on our behalf' and could give no reason because of 'confidentiality' and removed our property from their register and have left us (and the Purchaser) stranded without reason and decline to comment other than we should find a new solicitor, presumably they have made a major error and don't want us to know what it is. We have a new solicitor but now we cannot get our documents back from Sharman Quinney to move the sale along, cannot contact the purchaser as no idea why they are an...as the agent is Sharman Quinney, they also cannot act as the conveyancing team have removed the property from their Register. Really? Professional? Don't go near them, find a professional and we wish we had continued with our private solicitor arrangements for our sale as now we have moved out our house, sold a lot of things, have packed up all into storage and planned funds being in our bank Monday this week and now we have been majorly let down by the truly unprofessional and careless Sharman Quinney Home Conveyancing Team. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

If I Could Leave 0 Stars I Would

They mislead you into taking out a life-time membership to access their mortgage services when you first buy or take out a mortgage through their services. When you try to cash in on that life-time membership they ignore you, fail to call you back, give no help or advice whatsoever. They do not uphold their promises and certainly live up to the bad name given to "Estate Agents". Avoid at all costs and don't be taken in by their false promises !!

Wasted My Time

Passive attitude. Not replying to emails and pretending that they did not receive them. Need to go physically to the agency to be able to get a feedback from a visit of our house. Their only strategy for selling is asking you to reduce the price again and again. Fee cost above market. Just wasted my time with them.

Terrible From Start To Finish - Both Sales And Lettings!

Terrible service from start to finish, sales and lettings!

Over valued my property to get my business then told me to reduce it by £10,000 2 weeks later. Absolutely no offers or second viewings in 16 months on a decent house in a good area. Rushed an open house and promised leaflet drop of which I saw no evidence of.

Lettings were ok to start with then lied to me about information they had passed on to tenants, left maintenance jobs unresolved causing over £1000 damage to my property. Tenants also complained formally about Sharman Quinney, 3 times in 3 months.

Horrendous - Avoid At All Costs.

A whole year of my life wasted. Rude, inaccurate, false, aggressive and downright nasty. Trying to talk to the same person twice was impossible. They couldn't sell water to a man dying of thirst and as for treating you as the customer, I doubt they know what a customer is. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Tricked Into Spending £482 With No House To Show For It!

Hoping they have decency to resolve this.

Spent £482 and nothing to show for it, awaiting resolution. Ru sell purposefully mislead us into a house sale when the vendor wasn't ready to sell. Prior to this B rendon never called us back after a viewing, never replied to emails. We started talking to an advisor who was great, honest about the vendor's and started conversations with vendor, but she left the branch. That's when Rus sell just placed a form in front of us for us to sign, I asked is the vendor selling now, he nodded his head and said she was. Then followed lots of emails and calls chasing Sharman Quinney for documents which never came to because the vendor wasn't ready. But in the meantime we paid Sharman Quinney mortgages a fee, Mortgage provider a fee, conveyances a fee. Unprofessional, never called (apart from my advisor) back until I complained to head office.

Never Again

Sharman Quinney in Peterborough has to be one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. So rude, very little guidance for a first time tenant. They have no interest in you or any problems you experience whilst in a letting with them, instead they make you feel like a pain for even contacting them with issues when that is their job and what they get paid for. I would NEVER use this company again.

Avoid Avoid Avoid. There Are Good Estate Agents Out There.

I am in a position where i have an offer on my home and need to accept but I don't have somewhere to go. At first Sharman Quinney seemed to understand that I was desperate to find somewhere else to live and even came up with suggested property that were in a similar position..

This worked, I thought.

I found a property I liked, I had a mortgage offer in principle, an offer on my house which could be shared with the equity available to show I am an honest, upright and financially stable customer. The whole package makes me a viable customer and somebody they should be looking after.

The reality was I felt like an outcast. I was told I couldn't make an offer before proving my financial worth because of money laundering requirements. I explained I had an agreement in principle and would receive the mortgage offer when I had the property and asked them to put the offer forward so that I could then arrange for the final mortgage agreement which would indeed prove I was in a position to buy.

When I challenged whether they could refuse to pass my offer forward to the vendor they seemed less sure. I wasn't surprised though when I heard my offer had been rejected as I hadn't proved my financial status

Unlike all other agents I am dealing with they seemed to be resistant to customer needs and talk about 'requirements' which do not seem to be a problem to other agents.

The result...... I rejected all prorates being handled by them. I will happily pay my fee to other agents. avoid them.......

Q&A

andybarb58

How can I write an honest review on the Sharman Quinney website?? I can only see positive reviews on their website but my experience of using them was dreadful. visitors should have to full knowledge before using the company. Do they block bad reviews??

DonnaBa

I have received very bad customer service from my agent - and now even though I phoned 3 times to confirm that I did not wish to use their solicitors (even on the last occasion them telling me I did not have to) they now want to charge me £250 + VAT. To say I am fuming is an understatement.

Has anyone else had this and if so what was the outcome?

andybarb58

I have had exactly the same service. but for a cost of £420. even their complaints section at Connells were just as bad. no communication, poor sales technique. no data protection. no back up. i have tried to leave an honest review but their website will not accept it.
