Buy A Nespresso

Started using this machine mid December. Makes great coffee. First week in April we got error message saying change grinder from fine to coarse. We did this, the message continued and eventually only gave half a cup of water. Called the technician. He "repaired it". About a week later we had the same problem. A technician came, thoroughly cleaned the machine, advised us if we had the same problem he would replace the grinder. After a few days we had the same problem. Had our 3rd call out in 6 weeks on 15 June. The grinder was changed, but before the technician left the house we were getting an error message. He suggested we were using the wrong beans. We went to specialist coffee shop, bought new beans. After 15 cups the same problem. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. The technician couldn't suggest what beans do suit the machine. Presumably we have to try every type and keep calling the technician. ive now bought a 60€ Nespresso. It works every time.

Lovely Coffee, But What A Faff!!

My machine is built in above a warming drawer and an oven, so quite high.

It looks great and to be fair coffee is lovely, but there are too many things about this machine that irritate me!

It's always telling you something needs doing, Empty Drip Tray, Short Rinse System Required, Milk Frother not set up Correctly, Bean container almost empty, water tank almost empty etc etc etc....

This machine is not plumbed in - mistake number 1

The milk sits in a separate container, attached by a tube to the frother - mistake number 2

Despite having had the machine for almost a year, I still forget to put the milk dispenser in the fridge at night, and am therefore confronted with yoghurt filled machine parts in the morning, which are a nightmare to clean. The milk brother gets a build up of some off milk collecting through the day anyway, inspire of the machine's demands for a short rinse system! I have all but destroyed the rubber parts of the frother trying to clean it.

The double walled milk container won't keep the milk chilled for long, and I have to sniff it before I make a coffee, and even then, I'm occasionally confronted by what looks like cottage cheese on my coffee.

I live in Cornwall, and we don't get limescale at all, so the descale which takes forever is an irrelevance.

In conclusion, the water needs to be plumbed, and the milk contained within, in a refrigerated part to make me buy this again. We're about to have our dream home built, and I'll be trying to find a better machine: or I'll go back to the trusty Nespresso!

Overall Experience

No question, this machine produces a wonderful cup of coffee. The price you pay is regular cleaning of the tray, descaling is an issue and its an un plummed machine. I've had the machine for about 6 years and overall I'm happy with my purchase.

I love the quality of the coffee it makes, but am not a big fan of the maintenance.

The Neff C7660 Makes Good Coffee, Worked For A Yea

The Neff C7660 makes good coffee, worked for a year, then seemed to gradually slow up. Looks beautiful. Not plumbed in, therefore needs refilling, which is tricky when it is mounted up high. The tray reservoir also needs emptying too often and the 'tray missing' sensor is too sensitive. Descaling is a nightmare and I am on the point of getting rid of mine-have spent a day doing it today! Make it plumbed in and wired in. Increase the size of the tray reservoirs or even link it to the drainage so it is automatic!
