Purchased Erde 102.1 From Focus Diy Was £15
Purchased erde 102.1 from Focus DIY was £159.99 got 10% off with discount card only cost me £143.99 brand new, exactly the same as in Halfords only half the price!!!
Very easy to put together, light and durable - good idea to put protective ply base in bottom, will be doing myself. The 102 is a perfect size for the average 4 person family to put those extra bits in for camping

I Put A 5 Ply Wood Base In My Erde Trailer For Pro
I put a 5 ply wood base in my Erde trailer for protection and the unit is still as good as the day I bought it although a bit dirtier.
I would like to see a theft proctection system as part of the product and not as an extra.

I Read The Previous Reviews Before Buying, And The
I read the previous reviews before buying, and then found a bargain: Some Halfords have Erdes 102 or 142 displayed with old prices- I got the 102 for £169, much less than on the website or on the shop's computer. (This is Feb '08).
When I unpacked it, I coated and polished all the components with Mer for extra protection, and 3 hrs. later all was assembled.
A socket set with an extender bar helps things along, as does another pair of hands now and then.
The bearing problem: First off, I gave the wheels a spin: no rumbles. Felt for play: OK. Drove it a mile at up to 30 mph, stopped and felt hubs- not hot. Then 5 miles at 50: again, not hot. Sealed for life bearings are in improvement over my old trailer- regreasing was a filthy annual job!
Small prob: one tyre had come off its bead during transit. Friendly tyre centre gave it a blast with hi pressure airline: Sorted!
Accesories: only buy Erde brand if no other way. If you must buy Erde, get it from Western Towing: cheaper than Halfords, free delivery if ordered on the net. Some pattern parts available from Towsure.
I've also treated tyres with Tyreseal from Swiftly Sorted: easier than dealing with a trailer puncture.
I bought a 102 flat-packed at Focus. By using my over 60s discount card I saved a few percent. I built the trailer in the car park and fortunately I had Loctite threadlock in the car which I used on all the screws. The trailer was a bit too small although I once used it to carry a diesel rotovator from the Forest of Dean to Cornwall. I bought a used 122 and sold the 102 to a lady who had a pony. The 122 bearings have been troublesome. My solution was to remove the inner seals from the new ballraces and to pack the hub with a couple of ounces of extreme pressure grease. On a typical long trip visiting a boat for example, the little wheels turn over a million times. Good lubrication is essential.
