I Would Not Recommend This To Any Person Wishing

I would not recommend this to any person wishing to trim Leylandii hedges. I have such a hedge dimension 80 ft length, 20 feet height, 8 feet width. This needs trimming once yearly. I was given the Flymo HT 600 as a present. The initial use was fine and it cut through the yearly side growth with no problems. The first effort saw some 40 to 60 ft length cut in 2 hours, and fairly neat. It then began to labour, Jam up regularly, and the blades seemed to distort. This was taken back to B and Q who replaced it.

The replacement has been fine for small and non leylandii hedges, but struggles with the leylandii. It has lasted 3 years and yesterday failed. With no warning it appeared to jam with the motor humming, but no action. It smells like it has burnt. Given the hedge is cut once yearly ( 3 in total), and given minor other use it has not been worth the money. Prior to it failing it took a good few hours of intermittent use to cut 20 ft.

I am looking to change to another make as have no confidence in this brand.

Summary - fine for small hedges with thin branching, but not fit for anything more.

Mmmm... you need to get the right tool for the job . Common sense is needed . Fine for small hedges and thin branches . So the review would be 4-5 stars then. Reviewing a product for a task its not designed for is silly.

My Flymo Ht600 Electric Has Been Totally Unreliabl

My Flymo HT600 Electric has been totally unreliable, gearing stripped, the cog inside machine also stripped, jams easily, unable to cope with anything thicker then new growth hedge. Complained to Flymo, no reply as of yet

I Bought One Flymo Ht600 Electric Hedge Trimmer Ab

I bought one Flymo HT600 Electric Hedge Trimmer about 3 years ago to cut about 60 M2 of leylandii hedge once a year. It didn't cut well (ragged cuts and slow) when new; on the third year it took about 2hrs to cut about 20m2 before it started jamming altogether.I went out and bought the equivalent Bosch and cut the same amount of hedge in 20 mins. Although the Bosch is heavier it cuts like a dream and because you only need one pass is a lot less work. The Flymo is on its way to the skip.

If You Have A Little Hedge Buy One, If You Have A

If you have a little hedge buy one, if you have a large one don't. Can't say anything more fair than that.

I Had To Clip "stripped" Yew Twigs With Hand Shear

I had to clip "stripped" yew twigs with hand shears, after using my Flymo HT600 Electric, to tidy up messy cut. I agree with other reviewer and will bin the HT600 and buy another (non-Flymo) for next year. Worse than useless.

There Are Now Power Rating Labels And I Was Convin

There are now power rating labels and I was convinced it wa a puny 300 watt motor until I looked it up on the web. You could sell the

Flymo HT600 Electric at Toys- R-Us as incapable of cutting off fingers. Impossible to cut privet across the whole length of the blade. Grinds to a halt and very prone to jamming on twigs. This same model in different colours is badged by other companies e.g. Draper so beware you don't buy one by mistake. I can generally run any model into the dust afetr 4/7 years but this one is being binned in it's first season as completely unfit for task. Not my best buy on Ebay!

I Am Astonished To Find A Machine From Such A Nota

I am astonished to find a machine from such a notable manufacturer unable to cope after 40 sq. m. of Leylandii and 40 sq. m. of beech. The blades on the Flymo HT600 electric hedge trimmer are undoubtedly the problem, and material quality is the issue. Also, the design of the blades is like a clasp, which means that if they can't cut through a twig, they will jam, making the motor squeal for mercy until you let go of the trigger and spend the next few minutes clearing the obstruction. The rubber on the handle is already starting to fray, which takes some believing in a machine with only a few hours work on it.
