Milk Has Better Coverage Than Microseal White

Cheap quality paint with appalling coverage. I’ve been spoilt using paint and paper library and little green inside the house- but I thought «I only need brilliant white, how bad could it be?» BAD. When will companies realise that time is money and that instead of a garbage £30 product that needs 4 coats it is infinitely preferable to spend £60 on a product that isn’t 50% water and only needs 1 or 2 coats?

I also used the Fine textured Matt trade paint. The grit did a nice job of covering fine cracks- again 2 coats were translucent and insufficient over a dirty white wall with grey filler. Also every bug/ cobweb and micro leaf sticks to the grit and is very stubborn to brush off. It’s like Velcro for natures detritus.

Sandtex - 50 Shades Of Off-white

Wanted to liven up patio slabs so bought Sandtex Microseal smooth masonry paint in Sandstone, Mid Stone and Plymouth Grey. Sandstone turned out to be off-white with a creamy tone. Mid Stone was more like a sandstone (nothing like the tin, but ok for the patio). I bought a little sample tin of Plymouth Grey to check the colour: it turned out to be off-white with a strong blue tinge, nothing like the picture but just about ok for the patio. So I went and bought a full size tin of the stuff which I find is off-white with the slightest blue tinge. Nothing like the picture or the sample paint. I now have a load of off-white paint. Any takers?

Sandtext Rapid Dry Plus Primer Undercoat

Not solvent based, which is good, but completely rubbish - poor coverage, absolutely not rapid dry (was damp for hours) and a waste of money.

I think Sandtext are known for their masonry paint, but give the undercoat/primer a miss.

Terrible Paint For Colours

Painted top of the house with sage green exterior masonry paint. Within two years, the green started to “bleed” It seemed the green pigmentation, separated from the paint and it look awful.

Sandtex did not want to comment on this problem and said it was my fault.

Yes right, they did not know, or more to the point did not want to know!

I will not be using Sandtex paints again, nor recommend it to anybody else for that matter.

Go for the Dulux range of exterior paints, I did on my porch columns, still as good as when they were painted and they were done at the same time as my walls on the same western side.

Endless Coats...

Speaking of the sandtex white masonry paint. This product is a thin a a skeleton that hasn't had anything to eat for a millennia.

After 3 coats on pale shades of green and apricot it is STILL patchy.

I do not recommend.

I like: the fact that I will NEVER BUY this product again.

On the other hand the black is very good and only (still) needs 2 coats.

As for the lighthouses on the tin. The guys that use this rubbish to coat a lighthouse would probably have been swept away before finishing doing 35464 coats of the damn building. Just saying

Blistering And Peeling After Just 2 Months

We bought Sandtex as we wanted a good quality masonry paint. How wrong we were.

After only a couple of months the paint started blistering and peeling off. Apart from the cost and the time the mess of all these bits littering the garden and making such a mess.

My advice to anyone who is thinking of buying this masonary paint, is don't.

Only given a one star as unable to give it a zero

Sandtex Masonry Textured Paint

I have purchased two tins of this paint and after storing it in the shed over winter period it is useless. Cannot stir it or paint with it.

According to Sandtex it has to be stored in above freezing conditions, meaning both my shed and garage isn't suitable for it to be kept over winter period.

Can someone please tell me how many other members of the public think, oh yes it's going to be cold over winter I must bring the Sandtex paint indoors, or perhaps a hot water bottle each night out in shed of garage.

What a waste of money over two years.

NEVER AGAIN.

The only details it says on the tin, not to be stored in very cold conditions. Where else is anyone going to store this, surely they're not put in the living room for the winter period.

Blotchy Colours In The White Paint

After two coats of white textured masonry paint from Sandtex, I am still getting an orange type colour coming through, and stain marks where there has been Polyfilla repairs to cracking underneath. This is quite ugly. Maybe I should have used some preparation paint first?? The beige paint seems better quality than the white. Goes on really easily.
