Not Good Quality

I bought the continental because it looked fabulous and I believed Falcon were well made and good quality. It cost a lot of money and 5 years later it was covered in rust. It is also very badly designed. After chasing around for the best part of a year I eventually got hold of the company and sent them photographs. That is a major task in itself. They agreed it was in a poor condition and replaced almost the entire front and top. The top had also collapsed into the frame. I really can’t believe that a product that commands so much money looked like that after such a short time. I have no idea where this cooker, or it’s parts are made, but all I can say is steer clear. It is nowhere as good as it looks. Very poor quality. The grill oven doesn’t grill at all and your face gets fried every time you open the oven! I wish I hadn’t wasted my money.

Big Mistake - A “friday Afternoon” Product

I chose the Falcon Continental 1092 Dual fuel range because of its sturdy and smart looks, it’s 5 generous burners (rather than 7 or 8 unnecessary ones) and 2 large fan ovens that you can see into and that are not right at ground level. It was part of an expensive kitchen makeover, so we splashed out for good quality. Or so we thought.

What a disaster. First it arrived missing a small but essential part of the wheel/levelling mechanism. I contacted the retailer who contacted Falcon (Aga Rangemaster actually) to send a replacement. After about a week the wrong part arrived.

In the meantime we started testing the range. The range front and sides got really hot, and it was clear the cooling wasn’t working. We contacted the company directly and they sent a third party engineer - 10 days was the quickest they could do. He arrived alone (unable to move a range on his own, but it was already pulled out fortunately) and discovered that the cooling fan wasn’t even connected. So clearly no quality checking process during manufacturing. He connected it, but it wasn’t running on after the oven was switched off, so it wasn’t working properly. Another call, another 10 day wait.

Separately we were eventually sent the correct part for the levelling mechanism, but it was clear that this would be able to be fitted to the oven base on site. It’s not like you can just flip these things over!

When the second engineer arrived (again alone) with the incorrect parts plus was unable to fit levelling mechanism, he just went away to file a report that is wasn’t repairable. So one month on with no oven, we were faced with at least a 6 month wait for a replacement.

In the end we got the retailer to substitute a different make of range - of course we needed plumbers and electricians to disconnect and reposition/reconnect pipe/wire.

I would steer well clear of Falcon ranges, and I don’t think much of Aga Rangemaster customer service. Fingers crossed we get on better with the new one.

Bought A Falcon Continental Dual Fuel Twin Oven On

Bought a Falcon Continental dual fuel twin oven on basis of looks & features. Sadly this cooker flatters to deceive. Gas burners difficult to light, engineer called twice to fix. Paint markings on cooker controls have dropped out. Main oven now no longer heats properly.

Falcon outsource their warranty repairs - who on current experience seem unable to turn up on the agreed day. Falcon customer care not interested - evidently I have to sort this out with the repair agents.

Grill in main over is very poor - heats unevenly & cannot be effectively controlled.

If only Miele made range cookers....they could clear up.

Wish We Had Bought Another Range Cooker Altogether

Wish we had bought another range cooker altogether! I can't even cook a roast without the ovens setting off all my smoke alarms every time. I can't even have people over for dinner for a roast meal because as soon as you open the oven tons of smoke comes out and fills the air/room! They have sent 2 technicians out to us to 'fix' the problem but the problem is still the same every time I try and roast a joint of meat or a chicken! I HATE this damn oven. Not to mention that the oven doors don't swing back far enough so there's serious risk of burning your arms. and without a window to see thru you need to open the oven doors regularly to check on the food. The grill temperature adjustment is terribly bad too. My mistake was I fell for the Falcon marketing and the 'look' but it's a highly impractical awfully designed range cooker!

I found this review very helpful because..I have found similar problems, after a year of struggling, overcooking food, then undercooking as I try not to overcook. The fumes are terrible and the cooker is a day's work to clean. It takes forever to heat up and the temperature settings seem wildly inaccurate. I have the 1092 induction hob model and I love the hob - it's just the ovens which drive me mad!

Falcom Dual Fuel Falcon Continental 1092

falcom dual fuel

Falcon Continental 1092

the cooker looked good and i was told its was great to cook on with good output of heat. i was very disaapointed in the 1st few months the storage drawer didnt close properly and the oven glass looked a mess after few uses,it looked cloudy between the inner and outer glass on the doors.

rang falcon to complain they sent and idependent repairs that was instruced by them, the engineer identified the fault on the doors and the drawers, and after 2 weeks they came to sort out the faults, i was told by the engineer that falcon was aware that there was fault on the seals on the doors,( only half of the doors were sealed orininaly) and sent part of the seals to be inseted between doors the engineer cleaned the glas sand inserted the missing seal also he replace dthe drawer. after using the over few timet the same problem! same smoky look, rang falcon told that i shoudl take the glass apart myself and clean it, i would need a spanner and that they wouldpost me one, today im waiting fot the spanner that i know i wont be able to use as the doors need someone who knows what they are doing, the rings on the burners have also got chpped. im very disappointed as the cooker was not cheap , come on falcon get ur act together and sort the faults out.

First And Foremost They Promote This Falcon Contin

First and foremost they promote this Falcon Continental 1092 as a 'cooks' semi professional, robust product. This flatters your ego somewhat and you start to believe you can only cook properly with one of these - forget it. The grill heat adjust doesn't work very well so the only way to vary grilling rate is to adjust the height - to do this on the deluxe model you have to take all the food off! Insane in my opinion. The wok ring I find is badly designed and not very powerful - the ring is so large there is a cold spot in the centre almost the size of a football!

We bought this to replace a 55 year old gas cooker which worked fine but was a bit small for our family. We thought it would be nice to buy something robust which would last another 55 years. Disappointmment, this product is nothing special. The enamel flakes off the pan supports and if you complain they send out another set which also flakes. Despite £2500 pounds after a bit you give up - if an AGA company cannot make enameled cast iron products they should give up I reckon.

I found this review very helpful because...I need a robust hard working range cooker that is pracicallity over design, after many years of loyal Britannia usage, reluctantly sold because new kitchen not big enough, I have moved to a old house and need a traditional looking range to match, Falcon looks the part but obviously, with the review in mind, most certainly does not come up to the standard it proports to provide; thank you for your review, the search continues!
