I Purchased This Machine (silver Viscount 9500e )
I purchased this machine (Silver Viscount 9500E ) after a detailed search which came down to this model, a Janome 4900c and a pfaff quilter 4.
The price decided me as (IT WAS OVER £200 CHEAPER )I could detect no problems with the build quality.
it is also the quietest machine I tried.
It is very easy to learn its features and the detailed instruction book is clear and concise. the needle threader works like a charm, which helps with poor eyesight.
So far, after three months of use I have detected no faults or problems worthy of comment.Choosing a stitch from the vast (501) selection is a piece of cake.
It will sew through many layers of thick material with ease.
The overlocking stitches have been very useful and give a very proffessional finish.Controlability is excellent, from one stitch a second up to 900 a minute !You do not even need to use the foot controller,if you prefer not to as there is a speed control (slider) on the machine itself.

I Love My Silver Viscount 9000e, I've Had It 2 Yea
I love my Silver Viscount 9000E, I've had it 2 years now with no problems whatsoever. I'd like to see what extra feet etc you can get for it ie. pin tucking foot, and there's no info on this anywhere. The main UK supplier however is generally ultra helpful and their servicing costs are brilliant! I was shocked thinking it would be a fortune and its about £30 + vat. I needed a new automatic needle threader putting on as mine broke, and they say they will be happy to pop one on for me at next service for the cost of the part (about £6.00) + the service. They had a stand at the Harrogate Show recently, and although the lady on the stand was never there, it was good to see the whole range on display. I bought mine from Glenfield Sewing shop, and the chap there was very helpful in every aspect of my purchase. I was originally looking for a Janome Quilters' Companion and he challenged me to spot the difference in quality, build and ease of use - or my money back - and it cost over £250 less than a Janome. I have never regretted buying a Silver Visount, and will happily upgrade to the next model when I'm ready.
I'm glad my review has helped assist people in their buying choices. I thought I'd update things by posting again on this machine.
I'm still using it! I've used it through college (textile design & embroidery) and Uni (costume design), it still works perfectly though is desperately due for a service now. I was given an all singing and dancing brother embroidery machine with pc connection and memory cards - nice - but I still prefer my Viscount and always is my go-to machine for anything other than custom embroidery patterns.
I have splurged and bought lots of super duper compatible feet in the last few years, which are very good and make using the machine even better.
I also was lucky enough to get a GRP moulded case on wheels so that I can take it to class etc, and even on residential sewing weekends.
I would recommend getting a case like this, to answer another lady's review - it makes it completely portable and dead easy to take anywhere with all your sewing caboodle.
I take the point about some of the patterns being messy - particularly the little sun type dot - this rarely looks like it should. Also if you find the machine jams, yes its easier to roll the wheel and get the first stitch down by hand. This seems to be more if your needle is blunt/ not right needle for fabric, or if the fabric you are using would be better used with a guide fabric or walking foot. Ie very fine material or PVC.
I treasure my machine, even though I have 4 others its still my favourite, and the one that travels with me. I still wont hesitate to recommend this machine, and am thinknig of upgrading with Silver Viscount in the next 12 months.
My machine has had heavy use, and still works perfectly.
You can get them of ebay any pin took foot will fit aslong as you have the low shank clip on installed x
I found this review very helpful because...I bought a Silver Viscount from the TV company Ideal World who are supplied by Coopers Sewing Machines, but unfortunately my Silver Viscount 9500E jammed solid after only 4 times of using it,I only made two items and it jammed on my second garment,I love the machine but I am so annoyed as I have only owed it six months.I am now in the process of waiting to see what is going to happen, whether I get my money back or see what Ideal World will offer.Coopers on the other hand where quite offish and did not want to know until after Xmas, even though they promise the earth when they are on TV.If you buy from a good supplier I think this machine is a good one even though I have had a bad experience, but hopefully my problem will be sorted very soon.
I found this review very helpful because..I am thinking of purchasing the same machine. Not having any previous dealings with Silver Viscount it is helpful in my decision to know how well the machine performs.

The Silver Viscount Is A Great Sewing Machine, I R
The Silver Viscount is a great sewing machine, I really love mine. I am used to a treadle, and still prefer my old one, so my comments may be bias, but I'm still trying to learn how to use and adjust all the different stitches to what I want, but it's very easy to use, easy to thread - I love being able to monogram things, though the letters are a rather small set size as far as I can tell. I love the speed controls, and especially the pressure sensitive foot petal, it's very nice to be able to slow down for curves and things, and speed for gathering etc. The button hole gizmo is excellent, no adjusting to try to make sure it's the right size for the button, you just slot a button in the thing and it does it all for you, it also sews buttons on quite well for a machine, though I had to learn to turn the speed all the way down and try to be very careful not to break the button or needle if it's slightly off, the knot function works very well for most things. It tends to bunches up quilting, but I'm pretty sure that's adjustable as well, I just haven't learned it all yet. It may just be fluke but after jamming up a week ago I can't get the bobbing to catch, I've taken the plates off, and can't see why it won't work, I cannot find a repair number in the manual or any information about this.
I bought this machine through Coopers and then saw the report on Watchdog and was horrified that I might have made a very big mistake. I actually contacted Silver who are in this country surprisingling and they were very helpful so if I have any problems I will deal with them direct. Seems to be no problem to them and they said that I had bought the machine at a very good price, I paid £399 and then saw on Coopers website it had gone up to £599 so I was more than happy. Having used the machine I am very impressed with it, the build quality is excellent, the only problems I have are (1) the alphabet because you can't adjust the size of the letters or numbers which is a bit disappointing as the size does seem to be a little small and on the italics is especially messy. The other problem is the weight of the machine, I go to quilting classes and have to take my machine with me and as the lessons are held and the end of this ladies garden which is a gravel pathway I can't even use a bag on wheels to take it to the studio so for the lessons I use my Brother 8080 which is much lighter and also a very good machine which I've had for years. I would definately recommend the Silver Viscount 9500e to anyone. Those of you who have found that the machine jams, the best advice I can give is make sure you put the needle down into the material before you start the foot pedal, I found it kept jamming but this seems to have cured the problem and this was suggested to me by Silver Viscount.
I bought the Silver Viscount 20HD for quilting; it jams up as well and as I'm abroad its going to be difficult to repair even though still under garantee. Seems like a hefty fault and if I'd known before the machine wouldn't have been bought.
I have just read your review and had exactly the same problem of the bobbin thread not catching on the upper thread. I had to take my machine to be repaired. It was at the shop ror about 3 weeks before I got it back, so I am very nervous of it jamming again. It jammed before this incident and wouldnt work that time either so had to send it back to the retailers to be fixed. I dont think I would buy this machine again.
Q&A
Why is it so complicated to get an answer about the silver viscount, if it was a singer or brother they would answered my problem without doing all this messing around for a problem, very upset
My sewing machine has a few problems, I would like to know where I can get it fixed. Who makes this machine please? The needle threader has fallen out, i put back in but wont thread.
