Why does a washing machine need to beep 3 times at the end of every cycle? Why is this stupid feature necessary. It's just a damn nuisance if you have to press a series of buttons to stop a beep every time you use the damn machine. Even if you set the machine for a short spin, at the end of the cycle Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep (5 seconds gap) Beep Beep Beep ... continuous continuous.

Such a totally stupid feature. Why would anyone need to hear this when it's finished anyway? The fact that the constant whirring and whining and spinning would even tell a deaf person it's finished.

My old AEG simply finished and clicked as it finshed. That's all that is needed.

The machine works as well as expected. You put dirty clothes in and they come out clean.

However, the machine lets you know when it's finished it's cycle by beeping, not just once or twice but forever! Want to do a wash before going to bed? Don't! The beeping will keep you awake all night. Want to put a load on before settling down with your feet up to watch a good movie? Don't! Just as you get comfy, BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! And it doesn't stop. You would imagine the designers at AEG would say set the end-of-cycle reminder for 3 beeps, that would be useful. A normal human being could ignore that. Or maybe an option to turn it off? But to set it to run constantly is mad.

This machine has driven us mad and I can't wait for it to break so we can replace it. Seriously, Do not buy any AEG product unless you can be sure any beeping can be turned off!

I have the same problem. During a washing program, the washer doesn't seem to pump away - after about 35 min - excess dirty water (although you can make it pump away the water by resetting the program and directly going the draining task thru the program knob). When it tries to spin, it almost immediately stops with a big rumble leaving the machine inactive. For 4 months, my wife has kept on trying to wash with this washer by restarting the program each time it fails, hoping the failure would surface at some point. When that didn't happen, we asked a technician to look at it but, apart from replacing the electronic control circuit for a cost of 200€, even he didn't have any real solution. It is probably due to an inconsistent or not fully tested design. We also lost every confidence in this wacher brand.

After 2 1/2 year's service the washer developed a fault in the programm sequence ( p. ex. goes into spin without fully drained at 73 min programm countdown and cuts out). Similar errors also occur after spin cycle, even when set on rinsehold. This machine has become unusable, despite attempts to reset it. An inspection performed by an engineer showed that all of the main parts seemedd to be in good order. Replacing the control board would cost about £ 200 without a guarantee that this will fix the machine. Should I go ahead with this repair? I've lost all brand confidence in AEG.

We have had this washing amchine for over a year and are very pleased with it. We have two boys who both play football twice per week and go through scool clothes at speed. The machine has never failed us, cleans very well and is easy to use. The 'time saver' function is great for freshening up clothes that are not stained, and the full cycle works great for the muddiest of kits and large loads. It has a larger than average capacity, which makes it efficient, although we don't use the energy button (instead we wash at low tempereatures and on time saver mode when appropriate).

I cannot convey how stupid, irritating, annoying I found the bleeping on this AEG Lavamat 74810. It is utterly pointless and it does it constantly. My neighbours even complained as I'd set the machine to wash when I went to work in the morning. It was still bleeping when I returned 8 hours later. Neighbours complained they had to listen to it all day. What on EARTH IS THE POINT OF THAT AEG? CARE TO EXPLAIN THAT 'BRAINWAVE'?!?

I hate washing, reason being is I know that at the end of the cycle I will be tormented with the non-stop,l persistent, annoying and really LOUD acoustic signal from the Lavamat 74810. This is the most useless and annoying feature on a washing machine EVER. it doesn't beep once, or twice but non-stop until you stop whatever you're doing, whether it's cooking your dinner, showering, watching TV and go and turn the machine off.

I hate it and according to AEG you can't turn this idiotic feature off.

This machine broke down four times within five months of purchasing and the service from AEG was abominable. Each time the machine broke down it took AEG's engineers 7 - 12 days to visit and repair. Each time we requested a replacement but this was refused till the very last and fourth occurrence. We lost hundreds of pounds with: a) the machine breaking down overnight while full of dirty water and clothes b) time off work to meet repairmen.
