Leightons Provided A First Class Highly Professional Service
At the age of over 86 years, I needed a lot of expert help in relation to both my eyesight and my hearing. Fortunately the expert staff at Leightons branch at 15 Peach Street, Wokingham have repeatedly proved fully capable of dealing with both with impressive skill and success. As a consequence both my eyesight and my hearing have improved very considerably for which I am truly grateful.

All About Money!
I've used Leightons in Woodley on three occasions. The first time was a frame adjustment where a member of their staff said that Optyl plastic cannot be adjusted (not true).
Other occasions when they struggle to get a frame adjustment right and simply gave up... told me to try elsewhere. I did and it was corrected first time.

Bad With Kids
I took my nine year old son for an eye test and paid 100 pounds for his glasses , he could not wear them and they gave him a headache , I phoned and booked another eye test , the male optician was very rude and made my son very upset by shining his torch on fall briteness for a prolonged period , my son asked him if he could lower the briteness a bit as this is what other opticians do , he snapped no very abruptly and said a lady had sued an optician because they failed to spot he had hydrocephalus and needed to see if my son had it , I thought he was Over reacting , he found first prescription was wrong , but I would never traumatise my son again by taking him back

A Rip Off
Very expensive, sales people very, very pushy, they won't let you go until they emptied your pockets. I just wanted to get an eye test and they charged me £55 for it, more than double than their competitors, and on top of that, they wanted to charge me £500!! (£250 for the lenses plus £200 for the frames.) I will never come back there. Highly NO recommended. My advice: Get the eye test on Boots or any other known opticians and buy the frames online.

Exceedingly Expensive
Just been fleeced £148 for just a eye sight test and contact lens check. OK, lots of tests done but no warning that it would be that expensive. I'd explained when booking that I was after a second opinion, but would not have gone here at that price if I had known. Insult to injury that I paid £89 in the store only to be phoned up later for a further £59.
Sales assistance very pushy that I needed to spend another £500 on new glasses, even though the optician hadn't mentioned it. He also wouldn't let me go even though I explained I had to get back to work until he measured up.

Swindon Branch - Excellent Service
I took my daughter for her check up in the Old Town branch in Swindon, and found the staff to be very kind, polite, helpful and professional and the facilities to be of an excellent standard.
They had experienced several referrals and emergency's that day and were running very slightly (5 mins) late but they came to me and explained which I like as it made me feel that were were valued.
The optician doing the examination made my 15 year old daughter relax, he was patient and explained fully what he needed her to tell him about her sight and she has told me that she felt very comfortable and would like all her future appointments there.
Her diagnosis was fully explained and this was something that should have been done at previous appointments with other opticians.
We were able to choose from a variety of frames without any pressure and my daughter was able to find ones that she will feel comfortable in and at 15 this is very important!!!
As she is 15 and qualifies for NHS sight test for free, the staff had her paperwork ready for me to sign when we arrived again something I found to be very professional as previously I have had to ask for this at other places.

No Gaurretee Given Rude Manager .
I paid £450 for a pair of reading glasses 4 years ago and the arm has broken away from the frame, I took them back with the receipt and asked to see the guarantee, apparently there is no written guarantees just a verbal one , surly the guarantee should have been on the receipt, but no. Also there was no records on there computer that I was a customer even though the receipt had there name and address on it.

Seemed Desperate To Charge Extra
During my eye test I was persuaded to pay for a separate examination of some kind (explained in a rush, not clear what it was) and then had to remind the optician to tell me what the extra test had showed. No written record of the test results was offered. Seemed a bit desperate to be looking for ways to add an extra charge like that. The whole appointment was then rushed through towards the end.
