Fantastic, Nothing Else To Say!!
Having not been to The Merlin in 3 years due to poor service and awful food we went back for a friends birthday. I had to comment on the changes.
We were greeted by friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere.
Beer was cold, wine chilled and the food fantastic!
The General Manager, Kim came over and introduced herself which was a nice touch. Its the small things that make a difference.
The team were passionate about what they do and this shone through. We will definitely be back now as regulars like we once were.

Starter A Sort Of Pizza Base Was Ok Although Lack
Starter a sort of pizza base was ok although lacking in flavour, but large enough to share with three others ( I think the menu said it was for sharing)
Main course - mine and a friend's were very good - a seafood pasta dish. My wife had a seabass which was mostly ok although one piece was served raw.second friend had a salmon steak which was average.
Sweets were terrible - Blueberry and apple crumble served with ice cream should have been quite nice. Unfortunatly sprinkled with cheese rather takes the edge off it. Regarding what I would like to have known before ordering :- If I had known the cook was having an off day I wouldn't have bothered.

The Merlin, Alderley Edge - Very poor service by inexperienced and/ or non-plussed staff.
We ordered 10 meals as a group at lunch time which took 1 hour to get to us. This was after one of the staff poured a drink over one of our group. After standing around doing nothing, she mentioned she would not charge us for the drink....well duh!
3 of the meals that came out were OK, the rest were either nuked swordfish, dried out confit duck (not sure how I would go about drying out confit duck!),cold food in general, poor presentation.
I am glad it wasn't my money, we were out on a business lunch. We did complain and to fair they gave us 50% back, but I don't how they make any money here. Very poor and considering the cost- unacceptable. I hope they imporve.

Have been going to The Merlin in Alderley Edge for the last 18 months, and it has always been very good. But this time the service was very poor. I am sad
about this because it has a nice feeling as you walk into the place.
Once again, a shame.
