Fantastic Boots

I am really surprised to read some of these reviews. My experience with Duo Boots has been fabulous. I have recommended them to friends and they have been very happy with the results. I brought my boots nearly 3 years ago, they are still in excellent condition and every time I wear them people ask where I got them from. I have not taken very good care of them but it doesn't matter they still look fabulous. I finally found some boots that fit my foot and my big calf. I don't have to go a size bigger and look like a clown foot. Very comfortable and really well made.

Excellent Quality And Service

I was recommended Duo by a friend last year. I am 50yrs old, a professional woman with size 2 narrow feet. I am now the happy owner of 5 pairs of perfectly fitting beautiful shoes and a lovely pair of narrowband boots. After many years of buying kids shoes or stuffing insoles into shoes that were ill fitting and wasting an awful lot of money I am so pleased I have found this wonderful company. Thank you Duo your shoes and boots are classy, elegant, well made and comfortable and the mail order service has been excellent.

Ugh.

I had to pay $40 in customs fees on top of the $20 to return the boots that did not fit. So $60 to try on a pair of their overpriced boots. Unreal. Never ever again, DUO.

Best Quality And Service

I am very astonished of the bad reviews I reed now because I had the best experience ever at Duo Boots shop Covent garden. I thing people ordering from America are not realizing there is always a custom taxes on what they get or return from a European country...then they are surprise and blame it on the shop! Come on! This is not serious! More over, I would never order a shoe without trying it.

Duo Boots Boots has a very good leather, but not thick on the legs, it is a delicate leather of quality, not like what you can buy at Primark, Next, Top Shop and so on. If you don't like it and prefer thick and stiff leather, go back to these shops. These boots are city boots and if you want to trek with it, you should rather go to Timberland.

I have very narrow calves I am always disappointed by boots usually, floating in it...but a big fan of leather boots though! I came today to Duo Boots because I discovered on internet that they have different calf sizes.

I was particularly pleased by my experience in the shop AND by the quality of the shoes. The adjusted calves size is not the only positive point about Duo Boots shoes, they are also of an extremely good leather quality, very supple, fitting the leg and soft feel!

The service was, without exaggerating, the best I ever received in a shoe store. The saleswomen didn't only bring me the size I like, but also different model according to the shape of my leg and ankle. I found her advices very professional. That's exactly what you should expect of a shoe shop. We are not professionals but they are and they share it with you!

In short: Great leather quality, adjusted models and wonderful service!

My pair is the Elin tanned boots, and I love it!

Just Awful

The wide fit is certainly not a wide fit, the "service" in store is terrible. I wouldn't recommend them at all. Highly disappointed.

Bought Better Quality At New Look

I helped my daughter buy a pair of boots as a treat. After only a few weeks the heel collapsed like an imitiation pair of Ugg boots. They were replaced with no problem as it was a manufacturing problem. They were the same style but I had assurance that if it happened again they would happily replace for another style or refund. Well it did happen again, not as badly but they now say its my daughters fault. She kept the boots in the orginal packaging and took great care of them. The boots she bought from new look for £30 have out shone the Duo boots quality by far.

I feel embarrased that I have recommended Duo to so many people. I also feel disappointed as I love the look of their boots but I cant afford to risk £200.

Extremely Disappointed!!!

As a U.S. customer, it is first and foremost not a good idea to shop with Duo, as customs will charge a 10% fee on TOP of the already exorbitant prices. I had quite a nightmarish shopping experience with Duo in terms of cost, fit, quality, and comfort. I appreciate the fact that the boots are made of leather and are leather-lined. However, after *MUCH* of my time and effort being wasted on phone calls, emails, orders and re-orders, the heels began to wear away from the first time I wore each of the two pairs boots I ended up keeping. They are also made of thin leather that scrunches up on the leg rather than staying up or fitting the calf properly, and the leather is easily scratched. The worst part is that these are NOT comfort boots by any means! They tend to scrape the backs of my ankles and cause considerable foot pain after just a couple of hours of being worn. It is definitely not a good idea to attempt walking around for extended periods of time in these. The soles are not very well cushioned or flexible enough. I would think for the price they charge, this would have been taken into consideration. I have wide calves and have had *much* better luck shopping with Zappos in terms of price, quality of leather, superior fit, and certainly, superior comfort. It's tempting, as some of the styles look more appealing than your average wide calf boot, and I thought it might be worth taking a chance despite the many negative reviews. I would say that based on my personal experience, if you have a few hundred bucks to throw away and don't mind getting an ill-fitting, uncomfortable pair of boots that is not likely to last very long - go for it! Otherwise, stay clear.

Recommend This Store To Your Enemies! Toxic Liars!

Nov 25, 2010 Saville Row. Called 30 minutes ahead from Victoria stn. during vacation, Spoke to a store rep. I made sure she understood that I was on vacation, time was limited and it would cost me a cab ride from the Victoria line station (10 pounds = $17.00 USA), and so it wasn't worth our visit, if they didn't have my hard-to-fit size before we headed out.

Asked if had equestrian style boots to fit a size 11 (English 9, European 42) narrow foot that pronates with narrow ankles and heels, low heeled for comfort. She excitedly assures and re-assures me that they have many boots in my size and will certainly find something to fit me, as they are very experienced in specialized fitting their shoes and boots. I asked again, so you're sure you have size 11 Narrow (Euro 42 w/ narrow heels and NARROW ankles)?

She says YES; enthusiastically encourages us to come, explaining they have all the sizes in the store to try on, I should have no problem finding something in my size, as no shoes/boots leave the store and would have to be shipped to our hotel room or to the US, even though their website specifically says they do not ship to U.S. (something fishy here). My boyfriend confirms the info and gets directions for the cab from her.

Few boot styles were on display. No clerk greets us although available. Flagging down an available clerk, she tells me no one there has experience in fitting hard-to-fit feet, all they do is measure calves!! and that they have few 11's, and well, they do not carry any narrow boots at all, no narrow and no wide boots, only ONE size.

She insists I should take a size 40 (two sizes too small). I said no, please, I take a 42. She does not measure the length of my foot, but only measures the width of my calf. So , of course, what does she do? She brings out two pairs of size 41 boots, neither equestrian, which are way too tight at the toe and gap very large around the ankles -- I could fit two pair of wool socks in the gaps.

I asked her again to please bring me a size 42/English size 9 for me to try on. She says I don't think we have them in stock, checks and says no they don't have them. My boyfriend and I are both thinking, What the ?? -- only had 2 pairs of 11's that ran narrower than the others, but not narrow!

So, I explain exactly what we were told just 30 minutes prior on the phone and asked who we might have spoken to. She says, well I didn't answer the phone so I don't appreciate your complaints. I said, "what?" I'm asking you to find out who misled me; somebody here doesn't know what you have in stock. Don't you care that someone is mis-informing customers who call??

So, she just stands there, doing nothing. So I directly request, "Will you please get the manager!" She frowns and doesn't want to move, so I say, "Will you get the manager???" and then finally begrudgingly turns and goes into the back. Get this, Out comes the manager, who tells me that SHE was the person on the phone and without any apology, she tells me that she feels she made herself perfectly clear on the phone that they do not sell boots in any width only by numbered size!

I asked her again why she told me that she could fit a size 11N if they didn't carry anything remotely close?. She just kept repeating her routine, w/ no apology whatsoever, saying I made it clear boots have one width.

My boyfriend and I felt like we were on the Twilight Zone series. I reminded her of the cost of the cab that she cost us. She repeated this width routine she'd just come up with, and says I feel I explained things perfectly. I told her NO, Ma'am!, The appropriate answer would have been an honest one, which would be to admit that you didn't have any boots in 11/9/42 narrow range and at best, perhaps add that a few boots might be in the range, if I wanted to chance it.

Knowingly costing us over $30 cab fare and wasted time to/fro of travel on our vacation, and frustration knowing she couldn't fit me, I told her she was the greediest, most inconsiderate person I've ever met! and then left. Our evening on holiday was lost, and we were both very upset by the ordeal.

Visiting several other boot stores in the vicinity of Harrod's and in York in the days to come, I found the salespeople to be caring and honest about their inventory; bought super pair of Stuart Weitzman @ Russell & Bromley 50/50 stretch low heel, that superbly fit narrow ankles cheaper than NYC and Zappos', which don't carry my size.

It is my opinion that the management of DUO has to be the most cold and insensitive. I'm sure some people have had the fortune of fitting in their shoes, but I assure you that it isn't worth the trip with the unconscionable behavior of the management and staff. Imagine if you need exchange/return or have issue w/ something, how you may be treated. Too many other boot stores around to waste your precious time at Duo.

The British friend that had recommended them to me in the first place as being wonderful, has recently finally had a problem with one of her orders and found out how unprofessional they are in not rectifying shoddy quality with the boots. That is why I'm just now posting my Yelp! review here for all to see and learn from w/o having to actually suffer their toxic business.

I had written their e-mail w/ general ? and they wrote right back. When I replied to same e-mail with detailed description of what happened above, there was no response. I resent it again in case of Internet error, and they never replied. Don't expect them to care when they or their product goes wrong.

$73 Customs Return Fee!

Do NOT shop here as a U.S. customer unless you are willing to pay $73 to return your boots. In addition to the $20 charged by Duo, I got slapped with a $53 customs bill from DHL. I called to complain at Duo and they said that they mention on their web site that customs fees might apply! I online shop from overseas a lot and this has not happened before.

Avoid At All Costs Shocking Quality Shocking Afterservice

I am not surprised to see lots of bad reviews here. My Duo boots did not even last 1 day before the leather came of the heels and they looked like an old pair of boots wrinkling badly at the ankle. Duo try to tell me that it was my fault. That I should be careful when wearing them and that the fault was down to lack of maintenance. As I wore them for 1 day sitting in a meeting that is a joke. they then tried to charge me for new heels. then they offered to fix the heels. 5 weeks later they tell me they cant fix them so do I want a replacement. They said it wasn't a manufacturers fault that the quality was normal. That must tell us that all their boots are substandard. As if I would want to have some more boots from them after all this. They are refusing to refund so I am taking legal action
