Support? What Support??

Please AVOID this company if you possibly can, they don't know the meaning of support, at one time they had uk support centres which were very helpful but for the last few years their support is overseas and it's ABSOLUTELY DIABOLICAL!!!

We have an un-managed dedicated server with 1and1 and recently we noticed that there were services set up on the server which we had not initiated. We do not have the expertise to correct the issues so we scheduled the work to be carried out by the 1and1 Tech team. We were told about the charge for the work which we were happy to pay.

As they got on with the work there was an error on the server and the server was down. We were not told about this initially, they told us that the delay in the server coming back online was due to them making back-ups of the files, this wasn't true.

Eventually they owned up to the issue and the tech support staff proceeded to restart the server against the advice of my colleague as he had already been advised that this may cause problems in an earlier conversation with a different 1and1 tech staff member.

As the restart was attempted the server did not restart and as a result the server was down for the best part of 3 days. In that time our 20+ clients lost money as their websites were down and our reputation was damaged.

Rather than offering us compensation, 1and1 informed us that the cost to fix the issue that they created was to be paid by us, £359, which they have since taken.

We have contacted them directly and also via social media. The social media manager, was incredibly unhelpful and rather than deal with my complaints in a compassionate manner he instead proceeded to delete my comments from the 1and1 facebook page. They have tried to accuse us of initiating the restart on the server despite having recorded calls. Absolutely shocking customer service and unethical business practices. They are only interested in signing you up, beyond that they don't care about offering any level of customer service.

Avoid using this company, they may seem like a cheap option but they could potentially destroy your company's reputation and overall business. If there was an option for no stars they would get zero.

Useless

Terrible service. Not once have I been able to get through to them to sort the constant issues. No help, No advice, I often wonder if it's run by some teenager sat in a bedroom

You`re Just Horrible...

Been with these for years. Missed one payment as I wasn't able to pay and straight away they locked me out - not able to receive the emails or anything else.

They`ve rang me and said I own one months payment, I said okay, explained my situation, they said okay sir we`ll note that down you`ll pay once on your return from abroad.The following day I couldn't do anything, receive or send emails. The worse - couldn't retrieve my flight details.

Why so harsh?

Never mind, I`ve paid you now and I`ll try and find another provider ASAP.

I`ll be done with you and I won`t loose anything.

You`re system is rubbish anyway.

Still Being Charged

I cancelled my account well within the free trial period. Recieved emails saying they'll pass it on to a 3rd party.

Not happy with them at all, glad I cancelled because I won't be signing up again.

Extras Added To My Account. Awful Customer Service.

I originally wanted some cheap webspace and domain name to host my homemade games and blog if i ever eventually got round to it, and also a domain name to point to my existing, virtually unused, blog.

As i understood it, i would get a reasonable amount of webspace and a domain name at only £1.99 for the first year from 1and1 (1&1). It was also around the same price for extra domain names (depending on extension) for the first year. I totalled what should have been an initial payment of £12-£13 and then nothing for a year, and then the full monthly price. ok, i made my initial payment and had a look around my back panel, everything fine and seems simple to use. Only one problem being that i didnt want the pre built website option and i wanted to be able to upload my own files. I contacted them straight away and had the plan changed to another of the same price plan. my emails adresses would remain intact and the extra domain names moved over. No problem this was done immediately. I checked my account and both plans appeared but it seemed i would be only paying for one. OK Im happy as larry. I have what i shopped for. at this point im expecting around possible £2 a month charge for something not in with the deal, for my first year.

Then, 1 month later, trouble started. Some other purchases of mine from the internet have been cancelled, strange, i checked my bank statement. 1and1 have taken nearly £17 from my purchasing account. I have only the money needed for web purchases in that account. This causing it to decline things i had already ordered that had not been charged/sent yet. Cheeky Monkeys! There must be an error. I emailed support explaining the issue. In the meantime i recieved a bill through the post, that would not have been understandable to einstein. I recieved a reply from 'support' explaining that some service i never wanted or needed or even knew about would be removed from my account.

Unfortunately, I can not tolerate things added on to my purchases without my knowledge, so i immediately emailed to cancel everything as i could no longer trust the company. I recieved some robotic looking reply that answered nothing and helped me in no way. I emailed a couple more times about this issue expecting some sort of human explanation or someone to quench my fears about the company. No such thing. just bills i dont understand and zombielike customer 'service'. The final email i had explained how to cancel myself using the control panel. and nothing more. This company do not care about customers at all. But they will be very helpful if you have problems making a payment. Beware. Awful.

No Support Whatsoever - Domain Control Panel Useless

I have paid for two website domains for two years with 1&1. When I tried to use these with a different website provider the domain panel won't let me assign the new IP address. Automated phone doesn't answer. No email support. They simply re-send the old instructions which don't work. Beyond awful customer service.

Invoiced After Contract Cancelled

I cancelled all my contract with 1 & 1 and then I get an invoice for two more years and they say I have to pay it because the contract was not cancelled at the correct time. They stopped me logging into my account when I cancelled and the call you back page gives an error. I have been having three separate email conversations and none of them have been helpful. Still in the process of trying to resolve this.

I cancelled my free trial but they expected me to pay, so I know where your coming from.

I cancelled my direct debit with them, luckily they've not managed to take money out of my bank account.

I hope you get it sorted, because 1&1 only care about one thing and one thing only $$$

There Is No Website Or Email Support. I Am Currently Abroad

There is no website or email support. I am currently abroad and it is unreasonable to expect to communicate by phone only, especially as there is no evidence or traceability of the phonecalls.
