This Indesit WIB111 machine was bought to replace a 30 years old Philips which had finally reached the point where it was impossible to repair. From day one the new machine had extreme problems whenever it tried to go into a high speed spin. The washing function worked quite well and the programme setup was quick and easy with separate controls for temperature and wash programme. The only unusual aspect was the inclusion of an On/Off switch as well as a Start button. The problems began when the machine emptied and then tried to spin the washing. On a medium load of smaller, lighter garments the spin worked well with just a little vibration from the machine. However, right at the end of the spin the drum slowed to a complete stop allowing all the washing to drop to the bottom of the drum. The machine went straight in to a high speed spin and with all the washing at the bottom of the drum the result was that centrifugal force caused the drum to spin out of balance causing the whole machine to shake alarmingly to the point where it physically moved out of position and had to be held down.

When washing a single item (such as a pair of blue jeans) this tendency to shake and vibrate is obvious whenever the machine tries to spin even at low speed. attempts to level the machine as per the instruction manual make no difference to this behaviour. As a result it is not possible to leave the machine to complete a wash cycle unattended since it will almost always need to be held down during its spin cycles.

The machine is also quite noisy when the outlet pump is running and produces a rhythmic thumping noise when all the water has been expelled and the pump continues to run pumping air. This noise is loud enough to prevent holding a normal conversation in the vicinity of the machine.

One other minor point is that the door hinges on the left which means that for a right-handed person access to the inside of the machine (to remove washing) has to be made over the top of the door.

The actual build quality is quite good and after 30 months of use (2 or 3 times a week) the machine shows no signs of corrosion damage to the casings or drum or any evidence of leaks.

I had my machine 3 months the first time it broke, the breeze block had come loose and the whole machine danced around my kitchen. Today 1.5 years later it is now going to the tip. It started turning itself on when ever it felt like it even with the door open. I was standing near the machine when it started smoking. I switched it off and called Indeset. They wanted to charge me £105 to come out to it. I declined and got a local guy out for £20. He advised me that the board had burnt out and it would cost £150 to replace!! I wouldn't recommend this machine to my worst enemy. I will never buy from them again and now have to find a reliable machine that won't set fire to my house.

I wish I'd read this reviews before. Our machine has just given up the ghost. It's only 18 months old and as in other reviews the fan belt won't stay on-it keeps sliding off. Bye bye Indesit-we won't be buying you again!

WORD OF ADVICE - JUST DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM INDESIT! I have had this machine for 17 months; got bought it as a moving in gift. My in-laws might as well just flushed their money down the loo rather than buy this piece of rubbish. I've done 2-3 loads a week maximum, never over-filled it and kept it really clean and well-maintained. This weekend just gone it blew my entire house electrics - I had no electric due to this machine. There were sparks flying out of the plug - I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not! Indesit's response "We take the safety and concerns of our customers seriously" "we charge just £104.97 per repair" - yes, because we all have the money to waste repairing the bloody thing! At the rate these last, you would go through 3 washing machines in 5 years - nobody on a normal salary can sustain that. Absolute rubbish, just leave the brand in its entireity well alone.

Reasonably good product except the drive belt at the rear has a nasty habit of coming off. As I have a screwdriver (I borrowed the wife's) I am able to put it back into place however this is now a problem that is cropping up every two months or so. If any one has not got the ability to identify and repair I can only presume it can be a costly experience.

I have had this machine for four months now. I bought it along with the matching dryer (indesit is60v). Both have broken down several times now. Ive been lucky theyre still under guarantee. The washer draw broke off in my hand when I opened it to put the powder in and when it gets to the final spin it vibrates and jumps around so much it pulls on the water inlet pipe causing it to split and flood my kitchen. I have renewed this pipe 6 times now. Indesit told me the feet needed tightening but this was done at installation and has been checked. The tumble dryer now wont go on full heat only half so now takes up to 4 hours to dry. Indesit customer service is dissapointing and their service engineers are quite rude and try to place reason for breakdowns on you. As soon as the 12 months are up I shall be renewing both washer and dryer, and shall stay well away from Indesit.

Indesit washing machine WIB111 1100 spin

We got bought this machine as a moving in present just under two years ago. We wash 3 times a week, don't have children or any out of the ordinary washing to do and do not consider that we have 'abused' the machine in any way - we have never over-filled it or put anything too heavy in it and yet the drum has split! I would not recommend this machine to anyone. It is unfortunate that my parents paid approximately £250 for it, for what its life span has been. It is definitely not fit for purpose!

For info, if you have one of these and your machine is making a very loud banging noise on the spin cycle (and sometimes get very small hair-like pieces of plastic in your washing) - get it checked out! It is definitely not worth the money, and if you are looking for something heavy duty, this is most definitely not an option for you.

It has put me off buying Indesit again!

I hate this indesit wib111 machine.I bought it after seeing it reduced in Comet,now I know why!Its broken down after a month of average use,I have tried the hints in the book to get the machine working again and nothing works.

When it was working I found it noisy,spin was poor,the "programmes" were also a nightmare to work out.I wish I had looked further for reviews on this machine before buying and then I would have stumped up more but I thought my budget was £200,the only thing going for this machine is it fell moneywise in my budget!The customer service was poor too,Im waiting 5 days for a repair man to come out.Meanwhile,loads of washing piling up!Dont buy it,not worth the hassle.

Bought this Indesit WIB111 machine in December and in 4 months it has broken down 3 times. Googled other reviews to see if anyone else had any problems, I could not find one good review, all the reviews were of similar problems!

My advice is do not buy from this company. They were unable to provide fixed appointment times for repair and will not do repairs on a weekend. This Indesit WIB111 lasted less than a day before needing a repair! Build quality poor and customer service is too.
