Schuberth, Sadly Dissapointing
Schuberth S1,
I have had my Schuberth S1 for approximately 2yrs and though I am able to speak highly of it's noise reduction and comfort qualities, Iam somewhat lacking in praise for it's all year round weather performance.
I am an all year, all weathers rider averaging 20 to 22000 miles per annum and have found the Schuberths anti fog visor desperately wanting, especially with a price tag anywhere in the region of £430-450 which is a considerable sum of hard earned money to pay for a product that does not live up to it's high quality marketing.
The anti-fog chemical they treated the visor with kept repeatedly peeling as soon as water or moisture of any kind came into contact with it, causing the visor to immediately steam up and obviously creating zero visibility, which is most disconcerting when your on the Motorway in the pooring rain!
When will there be a seriously good quality, value for money motorcycle helmet that actually does: (what it says on the tin)?
Clear vision in the wet that lasts longer than just a couple of months and that Schuberth does not appear to be you!
Am currerntly looking for a new lid.......anyone have any ideas?

Overall A Quite And Comfortable Helmet, But This I
Overall a quite and comfortable helmet, but this is sadly completely over shadowed by poor visor construction and appalling customer service.
Having had the helmet 2 weeks, I sent the visor back as it was fogging up at the first sight or rain, or as soon as the temperature dropped. This was due to the factory installed pinlock not fitting properly, and that my visor had not been fog treated. This really shouldn't have turned into a big issue, but I have now been waiting nearly 3 months for a replacement visor and having spent a lot of money on the helmet, I'm truly unimpressed.
I therefore would not recommend this helmet to anyone.

I've had three Schuberth S1, one was very quiet one noisy and one very noisy. Poor visor fit seems to be the major reason. The gap at the bottom of the S1 Pro visor is big enough for flies to blow in!!!!

Excellent as a fair weather lid, not so good in the rain or cold. Visor anti-fog coating started flaking 3 days after I bought it. Dealer replaced it free of charge, but the second one started to flake after a couple of weeks. Seems to be aggravated by wet weather. Ventilation could be better, this is not a helmet for rainy conditions!

Build quality excellent, supreme comfort, quiet, good peripheral vision through visor, pinlock means no misting. Good ventilation and easy to remove visor. High position of the visor, compared to say AGV, gives great forward vision when low on the bike and looking through the corner.
A great alternative to the top of the range Arai. could be the best with a few tweaks. poor rating on sharp though - 2 stars?

A Large Helmet, But Once You're Used To It, It's U
A large helmet, but once you're used to it, it's un-noticeable. Extremely hard to get one in the states, but those who have them like them. You can find replacement visors on EBay and at some BMW shops. Air flow is ok, centrally located visor flip is nice, either hands works well. I LIKE THIS HELMET. Only real downside is cost, and availability.

I bought this helmet because of the fact that it was quiet due to the high mileage I normally do each year (usually 20000 miles) and it has not disappointed me to date except for the flaking of the visor. I will replace it with another because I am.
