Laney Linebacker 50 Reverb

Where do i start, the linebacker is a really hard working amplifier, it has 50 watts of pure power and built in reverb. There are 3 channel inputs, which is quite a lot considering how small the amp really is! (Channel A, Channel B, and Channel Mix) On Channel A only, there is the option of a pull boost on the bass and gain controls. Whilst the pull boost is off, you get a nice, medium kind of distortion, suitable for light rock and country music. But once the pull boost control is turned on the distortion goes from mild and warm, too crazy levels. I play mostly Status Quo music through the linebacker in conjunction with my squier telecaster and the sound is unbelieveable! As most people will know, Status Quo songs can get pretty heavy and the distortion and the linebacker will easily cope with it thus is an added convenience as you don't have to go out and buy an overdrive pedal, though i have used one through the amp and it works really well. As for the reliabilty of the linebacker, it is so reliable you wouldn't believe. It dates back to the mid 80's and it has been really well looked after and regularly gigged at high levels, it just keeps giving and giving !! Also the construction is completely solid, i have read similar reviews on different sites and people have said that the amp has been dropped and tripped over with no damage. Also another person commented that his linebacker got soaking wet, all he had to do was replace the speaker, all the wiring and everything else was fine!! that just gives you an idea of how reliable it really is. Another good point is because it is quite old, you will most probably get it for under 100 pounds, I paid 80 pounds for mine and i still am just amazed as the first day i bought it! Overall, I rate the linebacker 9/10, and take it from me, if you get the chance to purchase this amp, just do it and you won't be disappointed !!
