The AEG Electrolux Lavamat 64810 works, but the design is generally poor. After one year of service and i official repair and a rather more sturdy home made reinforcement, seems unlikely that the machine as a whole will survive more than about five years. It was expensive and, compared with the previous model I owned - which survived for more than 15 years without any intervention, very poor value indeed. Notat all the German excellence that AEG reputation might suggest.
8 years of heavy use, no issues with latch. The plastics the latch is constructed from are bulletproof and standard in this and other industries for this kind of mechanical closure.
The machine buzzes when a load is finished, but it does not beep nor does it continue to beep for 30 minutes. This is either a fabrication of the original reviewer or they have a fault code that they are ignoring.

This Aeg Electrolux Lavamat 64810 Is My Second Aeg
This AEG Electrolux Lavamat 64810 is my second AEG washing machine after using my old L74620 for 7 years, I moved to new place and bought L64810. Than, looks like washer is build quite cheap. Main door rubber gasket is not perfectly match opening, program switch is too soft(give me filling that it could break easily) and outer drum is built from some sort of plastic materials not a steel. Secondary, it was still detergent residue on a cloth, even with small amount of detergent(persil) and maximum number of rinses ..
